Looking for a way to learn Fantasy Golf without jumping in with both feet? We have a perfect solution for you. Yahoo and Yahoo Fantasy are offering a $15,000 freeroll called the PGA “Yahoo Cup.” This contest awards a winner for weekly events and one winner at the end of the season who has the most cumulative points. It will go for 39 weeks, with the lowest nine weeks of scoring being dropped from your total score. Each week also features a $150-to-first contest, making every round matter just as much as the last. So let’s dig into the best Fantasy Golf picks this week and DFS Golf value plays for the 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Course Preview: Bay Hill Golf Club & Lodge
This week is another staunch Florida test for the golfers as they tee it up at iconic Bay Hill. With water coming into play for half of the 18 holes and the longest rough they have seen all year, scoring is bound to be difficult again. The four par 5’s on the course give golfers the chance to score quite a few more times than last week, but expect a tough, grind-it-out week in Orlando.
Top Three Fantasy Golf Picks This Week for the 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational
Keith Mitchell ($25)
Yahoo will rarely price the same golfer at a value price two weeks in a row, but that is happening with Mitchell. He has been incredibly solid all year, with four top-12s and just one missed cut. He has transformed his game into a consistent one after a bit of volatility in his first few years on tour. Mitchell’s preferred surface is Bermuda, as he has his best career results in the state of Florida, including two top-sixes at Bay Hill. That is a perfect pairing to match him up with Rory McIlroy at the top for a solid, balanced lineup.
Keegan Bradley ($23)
Bradley is on the shortlist of golfers that would win a ton if they only knew how to putt. Similar to Luke List, who just won a few weeks ago at the Farmers, Bradley has been playing solid golf this year and at this course. Since the turn of the new year, he has teed it up four times, making the cut in all four but only recording one top-12. While those are not ideal results, consistency is key once the core is nailed, and at this price Bradley will do well if he just plays all four days. He also has not missed a cut at Bay Hill in over 10 years, and he has three top-10s.
Erik van Rooyen ($21)
Speaking of volatility, that is exactly what van Rooyen was last season, his first on tour. But after the win at the Barracuda last year, he has settled down nicely. Since the turn of the calendar to 2022, van Rooyen has made all five cuts and finished in the top 25 four times. He has also played here once and made the cut, even during his tumultuous phase. At basically minimum price this week, van Rooyen sets up as one of the best values on the board — if he can make the cut, that is.
