RSM Classic Data & Stats | PGA DFS Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel Lineups

Having a variety of viewpoints and data points can be both a curse and a blessing. This column will sift through all the data and top picks from the four statistical angles that make up PGA DFS. The swing season finishes this week in beautiful Sea Island, Ga. This year the tournament is sponsored by RSM and will again be played at Sea Island resort on its two courses, the Plantation Course and Seaside Course. The purpose of this DFS golf article is to take an in-depth look at the stats to focus on for the week when making PGA DFS picks on DraftKings and FanDuel.

PGA DFS Data Deep Dive | The RSM Classic

Since becoming a full-time member, Scottie Scheffler has done everything but win on the PGA Tour, including shooting 59 in a playoff event last year. He has been close to that elusive first victory in each of the previous two weeks, coming in fourth down in Mexico and falling just short last week at the Houston Open after holding the lead for a long time in the final round. Scheffler is one of just a few golfers in the field that has two top-10s and at least four top-25s over the last 12 weeks. Talor Gooch is the only other golfer in that category. However, neither of them has as many top-10s as Sahith Theegala and Hayden Buckley. Each has three in the last 12 weeks, but neither has played well over the last three weeks.

If looking for consistency with golfers that have made the cut in every start over the last 11 weeks, then there are plenty to choose from, with 19 golfers making every cut. Some of those names include Cameron Smith, Russell Henley, Alex Noren, Adam Scott, Mackenzie Hughes, Joel Dahmen, Henrik Norlander, Corey Conners and Louis Oosthuizen.

Negative Recent Form

Matt Wallace has had an interesting few months, as a stretch of two starts yielded a fourth and a 14th, but outside of that it has been five missed cuts. Only he, Curtis Thompson and J.T. Poston have that in the last 12 weeks. Joseph Bramlett and David Lipsky have missed three straight cuts.

Course History at Sea Island Resort

While the tournament setup uses all 36 holes on this property, the format of the tournament has remained the same since its inception. As such, there is a full dataset to work with when analyzing course history.

With close to 20 golfers or more competing that make their permanent residence on the Island, the home theme will be plentiful this week. An interesting theme with these golfers, however, is they have a bit of feast or famine, especially Kevin Kisner and Zach Johnson. Each of them has three top-10s in the last five years, but the other two starts resulted in two missed cuts for Kisner, and one missed cut and a one 60th place finish for Johnson. Six other golfers have had multiple top-10s here since 2016, including Webb Simpson, Patrick Rodgers, Henrik Norlander, Andrew Landry, Camilo Villegas and Vaughn Taylor.

Norlander is the only golfer other than Corey Conners to have made the cut in all four of his starts here since 2016. Conners is 3-for-3.
