PGA DFS: The Fit & Form Guide for the Sanderson Farms Championship

During the 10-week hiatus, we worked on our content to deliver you the best possible info out there. One of those changes was combining the course history and recent form articles to showcase two of the most essential elements when building out PGA DFS lineups each week. Since we were on a 10-week hiatus, we’ll use form from this year and course history back to 2015. Let’s get into the Fit & Form guide to make your PGA DFS picks for your daily fantasy lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel for the Sanderson Farms Championship.

Form From Past 11 Weeks

It is a full field of 144 players this week, with players competing across all different tours in the world — some on the European Tour, some on the Korn Ferry Tour and others competing in amateur events. I’ll give you the synopsis of all the best performers, regardless of which tour they play on.

Positive

Top 10s

Much will be made about Scottie Scheffler’s recent run of golf, having played six times over the last 11 weeks and coming inside the top 10 in half of those starts. Those three aren’t even half as many as Will Zalatoris has, who comes into the week with six top 10s over the last 11 weeks. He’s played nine times over those same 11 weeks, coming in the top 25 in all nine. Other golfers in the field this week who have at least two top 10s over this time frame include Zach Johnson, Sebastian Munoz, Adam Long, Chez Reavie, Luke List, Emiliano Grillo, Richy Werenski and Korn Ferry and minor tour players Davis Riley and Sahith Theegala.

Top 25s

As we just mentioned, Zalatoris looks almost unstoppable, with nine top 25s in the last 11 weeks. Scheffler has six, going 6-for-6. Riley has four, while Xinjun Zhang and Pat Perez are the two PGA Tour players with four. Munoz leads a whole host of names, 15 to be exact, with three top 25s in the last 11 weeks. Of the names we haven’t mentioned, Sungjae Im, Si Woo Kim, Kristoffer Ventura and Cameron Percy have a top 10 as well. Byeong Hun An, Dylan Frittelli, Charley Hoffman, Patrick Rodgers and Talor Gooch all have three top 25s as well but with no top 10s.

Cuts

Only six golfers have made every cut — if you give Perez a pass for his back-to-back withdraws. Rodgers doesn’t have any withdraws and has made all seven cuts. Cameron Davis has made all five, while Adam Schenk has made six.

Negative

Top 10s

Sixteen fewer golfers than last week will be searching for their first top 10 — 98 to be exact. A couple are names we just mentioned like Rodgers and Davis. A few other surprising names include Henrik Stenson, Keith Mitchell, Mark Hubbard, Doug Ghim and Kevin Chappell.

Top 25s

There are still plenty of names that are searching for their first top 25, with names like Will Gordon, Chris Kirk, Patton Kizzire, Jamie Lovemark, William McGirt, Brandt Snedeker and Keegan Bradley among them.

Cuts

Five golfers have missed five cuts in the last 11 weeks. Only Martin Trainer has missed all five starts. Fifteen others in the field have missed four cuts, including former champion of the event Ryan Armour, Wyndham Clark, Chase Seiffert, Jhonattan Vegas, Matthew NeSmith, Bill Haas, Zac Blair, Brian Gay, Ted Potter, Lucas Glover, Sam Ryder, Sebastian Cappelen are the names.

Course History at Country Club of Jackson (Sanderson Farms)

The Country Club of Jackson has been used for quite a few years, so we have plenty to go off of. When we have that, I like to look at the last five years of data. There aren’t that many in this field that have played here.

Positive

Top 10s

Only three golfers in the field have multiple top 10s here in the last five years: Kizzire, Carlos Ortiz and D.J. Trahan. Those are three names I didn’t expect to see, I must say. Another 24 will have a chance this week to join those three, golfers like Im, Munoz, An, Frittelli, List and Sam Burns.

Top 25s

Nine golfers outside of Ortiz, Kizzire and Trahan have multiple top 25s here in the past five years. Those golfers are Glover, McGirt, Rodgers, Percy, Denny McCarthy, Bronson Burgoon, Vaughn Taylor, Nick Taylor and Brandon Hagy.

Cuts

Two golfers have teed it up four times in the last five years and saw the weekend in each of them: J.T. Poston and Percy. A few others have done it three times, including Rodgers, Munoz, Burns, Schenk and Cameron Tringale.

Negative

Top 10s

Twenty golfers are making their first start here at the Country Club of Jackson, while 92 others will be searching for their first top 10.

Top 25s

Around 30 of those 92 have at least one top 25, but that still leaves over 60 searching for their first top 25.

Fit & Form for PGA DFS

Now that we’ve covered both course history and recent form, let’s see if we can find any crossovers.

  • The first three names that pop up on each positive side here are Burns, Munoz and List. All of them have a top 10 here and a top 10 in the last 11 weeks.
  • Scheffler has played here twice, coming in the top 16 last year, and has all that recent form to go off of. Im also came in second here last year and has a couple of top 25s in the previous 11 weeks. He is still searching for a top 10, though.
