The Fit & Form Guide for all 30 Golfers in The Tour Champoinship | DraftKings + FanDuel PGA DFS Picks

During the 10-week hiatus, we worked on our content to deliver you the best possible info out there. One of those changes was combining the course history and recent form articles to showcase two of the most essential elements when building out lineups each week. Since we were on a 10-week hiatus, we’ll use form from this year and course history back to 2015. Let’s get into the Fit & Form guide to make your PGA DFS picks for your daily fantasy lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel for The Tour Championship.

Recent Form Since the Return of Play (Charles Schwab)

With only 30 golfers in the field, I wrote up a line about all of them for both recent form and course history.

  1. Dustin Johnson: The hottest golfer on the planet, Johnson has been either the runner-up or the winner each of the last three weeks. Before that he went through a weird patch where he had three rounds over 78, but since then he’s been all but unstoppable.
  2. Jon Rahm: Rahm is one of only two golfers (Collin Morikawa) with two wins since the restart. Outside of his two wins, he only has one top 10, with the rest finishing in mediocre starts.
  3. Justin Thomas: Thomas has had a rocky restart that has included a win and a second place, but he has only one other top 10 in the other five starts.
  4. Webb Simpson: The only golfer to sit out last week, Simpson is coming into East lake with back-to-back top 10s on his card. He has four since the restart and only one missed cut. A small rib injury kept him out of last week, but a little rest and relaxation surely did him good.
  5. Collin Morikawa: The two wins, including a major, have been incredibly impressive, but Morikawa has shown he is human as well. He played the weekend at 4 under par this weekend, second only to Rahm. Momentum seems to be on his side heading into this week.
  6. Daniel Berger: Outside of his missed cut seven weeks ago at the Memorial, Berger has come inside the top 25 every start, including three top fives
  7. Harris English: English is possibly the biggest surprise on this list, at least in terms of position on the board, but his play has been nothing short of stellar. Last week was the first time he has come outside of 23rd place in the last 11 weeks, finishing 40th. He has six top 25s outside of that 40th.
  8. Bryson DeChambeau: DeChambeau has struggled since his rocking restart. Sure, he has a win and three other top 10s, but he also has two missed cuts, a 50th and a 30th. Now he comes to a course where the driver should be his best friend.
  9. Sungjae Im: Im has really only had one good start: At Sedgefield two weeks ago, where he finished ninth. Outside of that start, there hasn’t been a finish inside of 35th over the last 11 weeks, including four missed cuts and four starts outside of the top 50.
  10. Hideki Matsuyama: After a rough restart, where he missed the cut out of the gate, Matsuyama has turned it around to include six starts inside the top 30, including last week’s third-place finish. He has only one other missed cut among those six.
  11. Brendon Todd: The putting machine, Todd has used his wizardry with the flat stick to four top 17s, five top 25s and only two missed cuts over the last 11 weeks.
  12. Rory McIlroy: The soon-to-be dad still doesn’t have a top 10. I know the days leading up to my son’s birth, I was a nervous wreck, so maybe that’s been plaguing McIlroy’s game. Now, within days of the birth of his daughter, McIlroy seems to be focused on that instead of his golf. He may not play all four rounds this week.
  13. Patrick Reed: The typical sure-handed putter, Reed had struggled a bit over the last month with the flat stick. In that time he has notched three top 10s, even with the bad putting. But on the whole, he has a couple of missed cuts and four starts outside of the top 39, so not all is well in the Reed camp.
  14. Xander Schauffele: While Schauffele hasn’t shown the upside, he also hasn’t shown much downside either the last 11 weeks. No missed cuts and seven straight top 25s are both solid measures. But only two top 10s is showing his upside could be capped a bit.
  15. Sebastian Munoz: I have chronicled Munoz putting and short-game woes, but his ball striking had been there. That capped off last week with his first top 10 since the restart. He adds a bunch missed cuts and terrible starts into the mix.
  16. Lanto Griffin: Griffin has taken advantage of course fit two of the last three weeks, notching top 25s in the PGA Championship and last week’s BMW, which had a similar setup.
  17. Scottie Scheffler: One of the hottest golfers entering last week, Scheffler couldn’t get his putter going until Sunday. He shot the second-best score of the tournament, a 66. That got him into the top 25 for the fifth straight start after missing the first three cuts of the restart.
  18. Joaquin Niemann: A young golfer that had really done nothing since the RBC Heritage, Niemann played a fantastic weekend like Morikawa and Rahm and got himself into third.
  19. Tyrrell Hatton: After a roaring restart that included top fives in each of his first two starts, Hatton’s play went through a period of regression with a 69th and a missed cut after that. Since that missed cut he’s bounced back with two top 25s, including a 16th place last week.
  20. Tony Finau: Finau has had two good weeks with one missed cut sandwich in between. He has played the shorter, harder, par-70 courses better than a course like TPC Boston, which should suit him better. But alas, Finau makes it to the Tour Championship without a win yet again.
  21. Kevin Kisner: It has been strong last five weeks for Kisner, including two top fives and another three top 25s. He comes home to Georgia looking for a massive week.
  22. Abraham Ancer: After a fantastic start to the resumed season, Ancer’s play has dropped off dramatically. Since his second place at the RBC Heritage almost 10 weeks ago, Ancer hasn’t found himself inside the top 10 since, including a missed cut and two other starts where he finished outside of 40th.
  23. Ryan Palmer: Palmer has found a good patch of consistency since his missed cut at the Workday, which has included two top 10s, three top 25s and 5-for-5 in made cuts.
  24. Kevin Na: I can’t remember a period of 10 events that Na has not had a withdrawal in one of them. At least this past one was well before lock time, so no one should have been affected by it. Two top 10s for Na in the last 10 weeks are a big part of why he’s here this week.
  25. Marc Leishman: Talk about out of form. Leishman hasn’t finished better than 40th since the restart. That includes three missed cuts.
  26. Cameron Smith: Smith had to play well the last two weeks just to get here, and he finished inside the top 20 in both events. He had a great weekend at Olympia fields as well, taking a ton of momentum into this week.
  27. Viktor Hovland: Hovland entered last week as one of the only guys that couldn’t make the Tour Championship based on his play entering the week. He almost lost it, finishing 40th on the week. Still, he’s here, and his play since the restart has been good with no missed cuts.
  28. Mackenzie Hughes: What a two weeks for the Canadian, as he needed two top 15s to make it here. That including a slippery five-foot downhill putt on his 72nd hole last week, which he made.
  29. Cameron Champ: I can’t believe Champ ended up making it. After a missed cut and a 65th-place finish the last two weeks, Champ had to hold on for every breath on Sunday. But he’s here and will look to pull from the top 10 at the PGA Championship four weeks ago.
  30. Billy Horschel: Corey Conners will likely be receiving a nice bottle of wine from Horschel. The three-putt from five feet on 18 cost Conners the chance to go to East Lake and moved Horschel in. Horschel went through a really nice stretch where he finished inside the top 25 in four of five starts leading up to the playoffs.

Course History at East Lake

  1. Dustin Johnson: Johnson is one of only three golfers that have competed here each of the last five years, Matsuyama and Reed being the others. In those five starts, he has three top 10s, one last place and one 17th.
  2. Jon Rahm: Rahm has competed here each of the last three years and has come inside the top 13 each of the three years.
  3. Justin Thomas: Thomas has made it to the Tour Championship each of the last four years. He has come inside the top 10 every time. His best finish was second three years ago.
  4. Webb Simpson: This is three straight years for Simpson, and his resurgence in the game has been welcomed by most. He’s finished fourth, 13th and 20th in those three starts.
  5. Collin Morikawa: Morikawa will be making his first start at East Lake as a pro.

  22. Abraham Ancer: Ancer has made it to East Lake for the second straight year, finishing 26th last year.
  23. Ryan Palmer: Palmer will be making his first start at East Lake in the last five years
  24. Kevin Na: Na has played here three times in the last five years and hasn’t finished better than 16th.
  25. Marc Leishman: The tall Aussie has made it here the last three years but hasn’t finished better than 20th.
  26. Cameron Smith: Smith made it to the Tour Championship two years ago when he finished 20th.
  27. Viktor Hovland: Viktor will be making his first start at East Lake as a pro.
  28. Mackenzie Hughes: Hughes will be making his first start at East Lake as a pro.
  29. Cameron Champ Champ will be making his first start at East Lake as a pro.
  30. Billy Horschel: Horschel has only made it to the Tour Championship once in the last five years. He made the most of it coming in second in 2018.

Fit & Form for PGA DFS

Now that we’ve covered both course history and recent form, let’s see if we can find any crossovers.

  • Schauffele is the first name that comes to mind here. His form is simmering but not yet hot, but really good course history should spell a good week.
  • Matsuyama has a number of quality starts here at the Tour Championship. Add that with his coming off of his best week since the restart.
  • Finau is the last on the list. He came in the top five last week and has three good finishes here at East Lake.
