PGA DFS & Golf Betting Picks: Wells Fargo Championship
My rooting interests will rely solely on my bets and DFS lineups for the second straight week, as none of my favorites have made the trip to Maryland this week. I reckon it will be another few weeks before we see any of them.
PGA Weather Forecast
Sadly, it looks like the weather will be an issue this week. Thursday will be fine, albeit cool, but Friday looks like rain all day and hard at times. Then on Saturday wind will come in with gusts up to 30 mph before ramping down for Sunday.

Wells Fargo Championship Fantasy Golf Picks & Projections
These golfers will have anywhere between 20% and 50% allocation.
Rory McIlroy
$11,500 DraftKings/$12,200 FanDuel | 20-1 First Round Leader/8-1 (Outright/Eachways)
While his odds to win are longer and his salary higher, McIlroy’s ownership will be lower than Jon Rahm‘s was last week at the Mexico Open. McIlroy is projecting around 25% this week, and putting in in 30% to 40% of the lineup projects to be a good leverage spot, similar to that of Rahm last week. That is especially true on FanDuel and Yahoo, where salaries are a little more friendly. McIlroy is one of the best value bets in terms this week is his first-round leader odds, as he has the highest expected win rate to be Round 1 leader of any golfer in the field. There is more like this on our new OddsShopper Golf Page.
Gary Woodland
$9,100 DraftKings/$11,100 FanDuel | 36-1 (Outright/Eachways)
With a $9,900 salary last week and an expected winning score of 15 under or better, one would have to putt well or have an incredible tee-to-green percentage to make the top five. For those reasons, Woodland was a fade last week. He is now $800 less and with similar ownership, plus he gained almost 10 strokes on the week, so it is safe to give him a go. The winning score should not be as low as it was last week. With birdies being harder to come by, his two putts for pars will not cost him as many strokes as they did previously.
Max Homa
$8,600 DraftKings/$10,600 FanDuel | 40-1 (Outright/Eachways)
Goal setting is important for any tournament, and for Homa the goal was to make the weekend at Augusta. He did, although it did not help all that much, as he shot weekend scores of 77 and 78. The experience should help him continue to get better at that event. Outside of that event, he was on a run of five straight top-20 finishes, with his worst being a tie for 17th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He has only missed one cut since January — all the way back at the Farmers Insurance Open — and continues to improve all aspects of his game. Homa should be in a position come Sunday for a chance at his first top-five or better of the year.

Lanto Griffin
$7,600 DraftKings/$8,800 FanDuel | 150-1 (Outright/Eachways)
It was a stellar week ball-striking for Griffin last week, as he just could not get the putter rolling. A total switch in surface and a very similar field should give Griffin the boost of confidence he needs in search of his first top-10 since January.
Brandon Wu & David Lipsky
$7,500 DraftKings/$9,100 FanDuel | 100-1 (Outright/Eachways)
$7,500 DraftKings/$8,900 FanDuel | 100-1 (Outright/Eachways)
The importance of using the different sites to gain access and exposure to golfers is enormous. Wu’s and Lipsky’s DFS value is immense on Yahoo this week compared to FanDuel or DraftKings, as they come in at the minimum price. Obviously that comes with higher ownership, but with contest sizing not as large, the chance of duplication is much less.
Alex Smalley
$7,300 DraftKings/$8,700 FanDuel | 130-1 (Outright/Eachways)
The start directly after big finishes has not gone well for Smalley in the past, but if the momentum remains, he will be there again on Sunday.
Cam Davis
$7,100 DraftKings/$8,600 FanDuel | 100-1 (Outright/Eachways)
Speaking of momentum, Davis carried a made cut at the Masters into his best finish of the season at the RBC Heritage a few weeks ago. He is just starting to find his groove, and Davis should be higher priced in the weaker-than-usual field.

Greyson Sigg
$7,000 DraftKings/$8,300 FanDuel | 150-1 (Outright/Eachways)
Without top-end form, Sigg is a consistent option this year, as he has made 13 of 17 cuts in his short PGA Tour career. He is more of a DFS option here this week than a betting option.
Chez Reavie
$6,700 DraftKings/$7,00 FanDuel | 210-1 (Outright/Eachways)
Reavie tied for 13th last week in Mexico. He gained everywhere but off the tee, struggling to find fairways. That should be the case this week, as target golf typically suits Reavie a tad better than “bomb it and find it.”
Trey Mullinax
$6,500 DraftKings/$7,400 FanDuel | 280-1 (Outright/Eachways)
A very solid week last week was hampered by a lousy putter. Hopefully Mullinax’s ball striking remains and his putter wakes up on the switch of surfaces.

Cameron Young looks like he is about to enter the list of PGA Tour winners in his rookie season. He bounced back after a missed cut at the Masters, coming in third at the RBC Heritage, and Young is trending toward being one of the highest owned on the slate. However, at some points he could be worth it with how much his form is trending. I will add him to the betting card this week.
