Form Guide Past 11 Weeks: PGA DFS Picks DraftKings + FanDuel

There are 156 Players in the field this week, the biggest field we’ve had in quite some time. The lack of daylight forces that, but this tournament also provides a great opportunity for those down the priority list to make some money and earn some much needed FedEx Cup point list.

Positives

Top 10s

Even as his Masters hopes and dreams ended in the pond on 15, Tyrrell Hatton can still hang his head on the four top-10s over the last 11 weeks. He’s the only golfer in the field to have that many. Two others have three — James Hahn and Mackenzie Hughes. Another 14 check in with two, including Doc Redman, Talor Gooch, Denny McCarthy, Sam Burns, Ian Poulter and Russell Henley.

Top 25s

Both Sebastian Munoz and Webb Simpson, who each have two 10s as well, made their fifth top-25 in the last 11 weeks last week in Augusta. Lee Westwood also has five, while Hughes, Tommy Fleetwood, Corey Conners and Joaquin Niemann have four. Sungjae Im, last week’s runner-up, also has four top-25s in the last 11 weeks, spanning eight starts.

Cuts

Speaking of Im, he’s the only golfer in the field to have made the weekend in all eight of his starts over these last 11 weeks. Munoz is 7-for-7, while Matt Wallace, C.T. Pan, Brian Harman and Bernd Wiesberger are all 6-for-6. Only seven others have made the cut in all of their starts, including Niemann, Zach Johnson, Louis Oosthuizen and Cameron Davis.

Trending Up

  • After missing the cut at the Shriners, Gooch, Maverick McNealy, Aaron Wise and Russell Knox have really turned things around. Each of them has at least two top-26s, while Gooch has two top-fives in the four weeks since Vegas.

Negatives

Top 10s

With such a large field, it’s no surprise that 93 golfers will be searching for their first top-10 this week here in the Golden Isles of Georgia. Some of those names include Harman, Wise, Michael Gligic, Justin Rose, Scott Piercy, Patton Kizzire, Doug Ghim, Harold Varner, Alex Noren, Hank Lebida, Shane Lowry, Brendon Todd, Chesson Hadley, Kevin Kisner, Charl Schwartzel and Xinjun Zhang. That’s a lot of names; what do they all have in common?

Top 25s

They all have at least two top-25s over the past 11 weeks. While still searching for their first top-10 in the last couple of months, they haven’t gone without a couple of decent paychecks over this stretch. Others like defending champion Tyler Duncan, Fabian Gomez, K.H. Lee and Branden Grace will be looking for their first top-25 in the last 11 weeks.

Cuts

All of them, however, have made at least two cuts. That’s not the same for Michael Kim, Bo Van Pelt, Martin Trainer, Aaron Baddeley, Ted Potter Jr., Chris Baker and Kevin Stadler, all of whom haven’t made a cut in the last 11 weeks.

Trending Down

  • After the sixth-place finish at the Shriners, Cameron Davis hasn’t fared so well, coming in 52nd and 68th in his next two starts. But hey, at least he made the cut in each of them.
  • Luke List went to the Dominican to search for his game, and he found it by coming in eighth that week. However, since then he has struggled, missing three cuts and coming in 53rd the one time did he make it. Hopefully this seaside course will serve him well.
  • A fourth-place finish almost two months ago has been Nate Lashley’s lone bright spot as of late. Since then he’s missed two cuts, and the other two cuts he did make he came in 52nd and 38th.

Course History at RSM

Plenty of history here in Seaside Island means only 24 golfers in the field are making their first appearance here in the last five years. A couple of those names include Oosthuizen, Lowry, Rose, Westwood, Wallace, Hatton, Fleetwood, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Jason Day and Andy Sullivan.

Top 10s

Kisner, one of many local residents, has been a total feast or famine at the RSM Classic. Who knows what it is really, but he is the only golfer with three top-10s over the past five years. Eight others have two, including Simpson, Henley, Johnson, Vaughn Taylor, Charles Howell II, Henrik Norlander, Patrick Rodgers and Jamie Lovemark. Kisner isn’t the only one with struggles, as each of the golfers except Simpson has at least one missed cut over the last five years. Simpson had a withdraw in 2017, but his father was dying, so Simpson withdrew after two rounds. He was in 12th heading into the weekend.

Top 25s

Remarkably, David Hearn has been the most consistent golfer at the RSM Classic over the last five years (aside from Simpson), with three top-25s and no missed cuts in four tries. The others with three top-25s — Kisner, Howell and Brian Stuard — all have two missed cuts to go along with their three top-25s.

Cuts

Hearn is one of three golfers that have made all of their cuts in four attempts over the last five years here at the RSM Classic. No golfer has gone 5-for-5. Those that are 4-for-4 include Hearn, Gomez and Ryan Armour. Nine more are 3-for-3, including Duncan, Austin Cook, Lucas Glover, Kyle Stanley, Tim Wilkinson and Rob Oppenheim.

Trending Up

  • After missing the cut in both 2015 and 2016, Harman has bounced back with three made cuts, one top-five, another top-15 and a 32nd.
  • Norlander missed the cut here in 2015, but since then he has two top-fives and two other made cuts in his four tries.
  • Johnson missed the cut here in back-to-back years, like Harman. However, since then Johnson has two top-10s, and another made cut in his three trips home.
  • Richy Werenski missed the cut each of the first two times he came to the RSM Classic, but in his last appearance in 2019 he figured it out, coming in 15th.

Negative Course History

Top 10s

One would think that Peter Malnati, who primarily uses his approach game and putter to make his money, hasn’t made a cut here in the last five years, the only golfer to be 0-for-5. Obviously, that means no top-10s either. Other names that have competed at least four times with no top-10s here include Werenski, Gooch, Kevin Streelman, J.T. Poston, Harris English, Cameron Tringale, Jonathan Byrd, Matt Kuchar, Adam Schenk and Bill Haas.

Top 25s

All of those previous names have at least one top-25 here in the last five years. A couple of names that don’t and have come here at least four times include Baddeley, Hadley, Joel Dahmen, Brice Garnett, Sung Kang and Bronson Burgoon.

Cuts

I already mentioned Malnati’s struggles here in the Golden Isles. He’s the only one with more than four missed cuts, as Poston, Streelman, English, Baddeley, Burgoon and Nick Taylor all have three.

Trending Down

  • After back-to-back top-10s in 2015 and 2016, Lovemark has gone the other way with one missed cut and a 65th-place finish in his next two appearances here.
  • Streelman had figured it out for a couple of years, but the last two have been bad, missing the cut in each of them.

The RSM Classic Fit & Form for PGA DFS Picks + Fantasy Golf

The best of the best are here, and some of them have been playing great recently. So there’s a bunch of names to choose from that are a good fit and in good form. I’ll choose what I believe to be the top three.

  • Harman has been one of the most consistent golfers as of late and is working off three straight good starts at the RSM Classic.
  • Simpson, the perennially good easy-course golfer, is working on four straight made cuts here and has multiple top-10s in the last 11 weeks.
  • McCarthy has an eighth-place finish in the last three weeks and one here last year. Triple 8s pay well, so why not another eighth-place finish on the horizon for McCarthy this week?
