The Fit & Form Guide The Northern Trust | DraftKings + FanDuel PGA DFS Picks

During the 10-week hiatus, we worked on our content to deliver you the best possible info out there. One of those changes was combining the course history and recent form articles to showcase two of the most essential elements when building out PGA DFS lineups each week. Since we were on a 10-week hiatus, we’ll use form from this year and course history back to 2015. Let’s get into the PGA DFS Fit & Form guide to make your PGA DFS picks for your daily fantasy lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel for the Northern Trust.

Recent Form Since the Return of Play (Charles Schwab)

It’s been 10 weeks since the Charles Schwab, which feels like an eternity ago at this point. Only two golfers in this week’s field have played every week, Troy Merritt and Si Woo Kim. Patrik Reed, Matthew Wolff, Luke List, Sungjae Im, Emiliano Grillo, Sepp Straka, Denny Mccarthy, Bubba Watson, Xinjun Zhang, Patrick Rodgers, Talor Gooch, Brian Stuard, Tom Hoge and Wyndham Clark have all competed nine of the ten weeks. Adam Scott and Tiger Woods are the only two golfers in the field that haven’t competed at least three times in the past 10 weeks.

Positives

PGA DFS Picks: The Fit & Form Guide for the Northern Trust including PGA Picks like Patrick Reed, Gary Woodland, Hideki Matsuyama and more.

Top 10s: Bryson DeChambeau leads the world-class field in terms of the number of starts inside the top 10 since the restart. The answer is 5. Two others have four, Justin Thomas & Jason Day. Six others have three top 10s, for a total of nine golfers with at least three top 10s since the restart. The last six are Xander Schauffele, Daniel Berger, Collin Morikawa, Webb Simpson, Tony Finau and Patrick Reed.

Top 25s: Outside of Scott, who came in 22nd in his one start, Xander Schauffele, Harris English and Daniel Berger are the only golfers to average a top 25 in 80% or more of their starts. Schauffele leads with six in his seven starts, English 5/6 and Berger 4/5. Abraham Ancer, Cameron Champ and Hideki Matsuyama are all four for six in finishing inside the 25.

Cuts: Nine golfers, if you include Woods and Scott, have made every cut. Ancer, Viktor Hovland, Patrick Cantlay, Scott Stallings, Rory McIlroy and Adam Hadwin are the others.

Negatives

  • Top 10s: Even with 10 weeks of competition already taking place, 54 golfers are still in search of their first top 10. The most surprising name among them is Rory McIlory. Others are Marc Leishman, Rickie Fowler, Hideki Matsuyama, Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Kuchar, Brendon Todd and Harris English. It almost goes without saying but, I like my odds of at least one of those guys getting inside the top 10 this week.
  • Top 25s: Only 25 golfers in the field, however, are in search of the first top 25. Fleetwood, Leishman and Smith are among them.
  • Cuts: Everybody in the field has earned at least one paycheck in the last 10 weeks, but Wyndham Clark is the only golfer with seven missed cuts. Xinjun Zhang, Beau Hossler and Brian Gay all have five.

Positives

PGA DFS Picks: The Fit & Form Guide for the Northern Trust including PGA Picks like Patrick Reed, Gary Woodland, Hideki Matsuyama and more.

Top 10s: Patrick Reed is the only golfer with three top 10s here at TPC Boston since 2015. A handful of others have two, including Paul Casey, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose.

PGA DFS Picks: The Fit & Form Guide for the Northern Trust including PGA Picks like Patrick Reed, Gary Woodland, Hideki Matsuyama and more.

Top 25s:

With no top 10s but five top 30s, and four top 25s, Gary Woodland just has found enough to get inside the number. Jason Day and Hideki Matsuyama have four top 25s, with one top 10 each.

Cuts: All three of those guys, Woodland, Day, and Matsuyama, are the only ones to have played here each of the last five years and make the cut in every start. Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, and Louis Oosthuizen are all four-for-four.

Negatives

  • Top 10s: A couple of golfers that have competed here in each of the last five years with no top 10s and they are Brian Harman, Zach Johnson, Keegan Bradley, Kevin Streelman, Brendan Steele, Charles Howell III and Danny Lee.
  • Top 25s: Four golfers above have no top 25s either, Howell, Lee, Steele and Streelman.
  • Cuts: Incredibly, only a few golfers have multiple missed cuts here since 2015, including Danny Lee, Russell Henely, Charley Hoffman, Billy Horschel, Chez Reavie and Kevin Na.

Fit & Form for PGA DFS

Now that we’ve covered both course history and recent form let’s see if we can find any crossovers, either negative or positive.

  • The first criteria I’m looking at here for this week are golfers that show up in both positives categories. Patrick Reed, Hideki Matsuyama and Jason Day.
  • The next thing I’ll look for is a golfer that has at least two top 25s in the last six weeks and two top 25s here since 2017and those include Hideki Matsuyama and Gary Woodland.
