Anthony Davis

PTS 28.0 | REB 13.0 | AST: 4.9

The New Orleans Pelicans have managed to work themselves up to a 12-13 record and currently sit 11th in the Western Conference, however, they continue to play inconsistent basketball and seem to lack the kind of depth that will make them a threat come the backend of the season.

Something that hasn’t changed, though, is Anthony Davis’ play. He’s playing a ton of minutes for them (37.5 per game) and is putting up big numbers as a result. Davis is pretty much locked in for a double-double each night, as he’s managed one in 16 of his 21 games this season. He not only makes an impact scoring the ball and on the glass. Davis is averaging a career-high 4.8 assists this season, which is more than double what he averaged last season. He can pretty much do it all and is one of the most exciting players to watch in the NBA.

Tonight, he’ll matchup with DeAndre Jordan and the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs have been quietly solid to begin the 2018-19 campaign, led by rookie sensation Luka Doncic out of Slovenia. Davis, though, won’t have to deal with Doncic. Instead, he’s set to duel with the defensive-minded Jordan, who may present some resistance. Jordan has always been a well-known defensive option in the post, but Davis’ skillset allows him to operate on the perimeter more frequently and that’s where he could have success against Jordan. Davis can attack off the dribble, something he’s doing more of this season, and drag Jordan out to an area where he’s less effective defensively.

The Mavs are 8-2 over their last 10 games and are going to be tough to beat. The key will be Davis and how he handles the matchup with Jordan. The Brow should be able to produce no matter the outcome, though, so we can plan accordingly.

Predicted stat-line: 31 PTS, 13 REB, 4 AST

Giannis Antetokounmpo

 PTS 27.6 | REB 13.2 | AST: 6.0

After their hot start to the season, the Milwaukee Bucks have stumbled of little. They’re still 15-7 and sit second in the Eastern Conference, though, and will have the fourth placed Detroit Pistons in town tonight. The Pistons had won five straight before losing to the Thunder in their most recent game and will be motivated to get back on track in Milwaukee.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has put up some monster numbers of late. He went off for 33 points, 19 rebounds and seven assists against the New York Knicks, and has recorded a double-double in eight straight games. Like the aforementioned Anthony Davis, Antetokounmpo is essentially a lock for a double-double each night no matter the opponent.

The Pistons have mostly leaned on their defense for success early in the season, so as a team they’re tough to score on, but when it comes to guarding The Greek Freak their options are incredibly limited. It’ll likely be a combination of Glenn Robinson III and Blake Griffin tasked with defending Antetokounmpo and each player brings a different defensive skillset to the table, but they won’t be able to do much to stop him.

His double-double streak is one thing, but in five of his last six games he’s managed at least 30 points and 10 rebounds. Antetokounmpo has also dished at least seven assists in each of his last four games, so that’s another aspect to consider when predicting his stat-line. He should have no problems producing for the Bucks tonight, so set your sights high.

Predicted stat-line: 34 PTS, 14 REB, 8 AST

Kawhi Leonard

PTS 25.6 | REB 8.5 | AST: 3.0

The Toronto Raptors were on cruise control before their 106-103 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Monday, winning eight straight games and cementing their position at the top of the Eastern Conference. They’ll remain at home tonight but will have Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers in town, winners of four straight games. The two teams have met once already this season, and it was the Raptors running away with a 129-112 victory, so tonight marks their second meeting of the season.

Kawhi Leonard is at the center of the Raptors’ success this season with his tremendous play on both ends. He’s dropped at least 30 points and eight rebounds in two of his last three games, but the matchup with Jimmy Butler tonight will certainly be intriguing. The addition of Butler has helped defensively, but the Sixers still allow 111.8 points per game (21st in the NBA).

The good news is that Leonard has been fairly consistent this season, which makes life easier when predicting his performance. In his 19 games this season, Leonard has only scored less than 20 points four times. He generally settles in between the 35-20 range when it comes to points, 8-11 in rebounds and 2-5 in assists. The Raptors should be able to get back in the win column tonight, and that bodes well for Leonard’s potential production.

Predicted stat-line: 29 PTS, 8 REB, 3 AST
