Euro 2020 DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Lineups | June 21

These are listed in order of what I believe are the top plays, including median projection, floor and upside.

Euro DFS Picks: Forwards/Midfielders

Ruslan Malinovskiy (DraftKings $7,900, FanDuel $16)

There is an interesting match to be played out in Group C of the Euro 2020. Ukraine takes on Austria with both teams tied in points. The goal differential is also tied, so goals scored has Ukraine as the No. 2 team right now. Simply put, Austria needs to win the match, and Ukraine cannot lose. The high-priced Belgium and Netherlands starting 11s could see a short run of minutes given favorable matchups and a possibility for rest with advancement secured. This match should be a fight to the finish.

Ruslan Malinovskiy continues to provide a solid floor with set shares and created chances with his teammates converting on different occasions. His shot volume and crossing volume make him a core play on DraftKings. Similar to the previous match, the preference on FanDuel rolls to Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk. Both attackers up front for Ukraine have a higher on-target percentage, with Yaremchuk yet to miss the net on an attempt this tournament. Yarmolenko can provide open play crossing volume and has more potential shot volume given his ability to self-create on the wing.

David Alaba (DraftKings $6,700, FanDuel $15)

Austria needs to win their matchup against Ukraine. They look to be more aggressive, and David Alaba is their set-piece man. His lack of shooting has been no surprise given his setup in the center back role. His floor is built off crossing volume from open play and sets and matched with interceptions/won tackles on the opponents’ counterattacks. The price on DraftKings is too low for a floor that easily hits over 1.5x value. On FanDuel the missing on target volume is a concern for me, so fill the void with other targets on a four game slate.

Up front for Austria, Marko Arnautovic returns after a one-game suspension. He looks to secure his second goal of the Euro in an attempt to secure advancement for his nation. In GPP he is a solid goal-hunting option that will go overlooked given the high price and more favorable matchups for other attackers. Ukraine’s defense has been undervalued since the start of this tournament, but if they score first, a sit-back approach will leave Arnautovic with some chances.

Martin Braithwaite (DraftKings $7,300, FanDuel $16)

Yussef Poulsen (DraftKings $6,700, FanDuel $17)

Time is running out for Denmark and their hopes of advancement. They need a convincing win against Russia, as they have a -2 goal differential. A win by a smaller margin than two goals might not be enough considering Finland holds the tie breaker and a matched 3 points to take second. In this situation Denmark will need enough goal differentials and goals scored to advance over the other third place finishers.

Martin Braithwaite has taken it upon himself to fire away shots. He will need to make those chances count, as he failed to put six attempts on target in his last match and missed his two against Finland. The volume will be there, and Russia’s defense has looked confused under pressure in both their previous matches. The other goal-scoring option for Denmark, Yussuf Poulsen, has found the back of the net. He will be asked to do it again and comes in a few hundred cheaper. Poulsen also has a higher floor with open-play crossing volume and assisted shots at his disposal. a GPP pairing of the two in a match were volume and pace is at their advantage makes sense.

Aleksandr Golovin (DraftKings $7,800, FanDuel $13)

Russia cannot rest on the current lead and certainly cannot lose this matchup. Aleksandr Golovin has done his part with crossing volume of eight per match. His price is creeping up, but security of staying in the full run of time and ability to draw fouls makes him a core go to for the third straight siting. Golovin has gotten little in terms of help from his teammates, so he should take more chances at the net. At Monaco he averaged 2.27 shots per match and a 44% on-target accuracy. There lies his upside or a created chance that sees help connect on the score sheet.

Kevin De Bruyne (DraftKings $10,900, FanDuel $23)

Memphis Depay (DraftKings $11,400, FanDuel $20)

Kevin De Bruyne and Memphis Depay never come cheap, and for good reason. Both Belgium and Netherlands have secured advancement to knockout stages of the Euro. Both also have favorable matchups, and a win leaves nothing to chance on having to settle for second in the group. De Bruyne and Depay handle the respective set shares for their teams and produce offensively as staple goal scorers in big moments. The only concern is an early goal by either club, or their full-game run being cut short for rest as a priority for the knockout stage.

It is possible that the goals come from either Depay and De Bruyne or if the matches are close their metrics build enough floor to still be optimal. One way to attack it is roster lines with one or the other. Both in the same lineup does not make sense considering the high price, concern over run and average value mentioned above.

The goal hunters from Belgium and Netherlands cannot be ignored. They provide zero floor but have brace upside. Romelu Lukaku comes at a high price, so one goal is not enough to get to the top given the number of matches on this slate. The brace upside makes him a viable GPP option. Wout Weghorst provides a bit more margin for error at under $9,000, and his work rate may get rewarded against a subpar North Macedonia defense.

Euro DFS Picks: Defender

Denzel Dumfries (DraftKings $6,600, FanDuel $14)

Oleksandr Zinchenko (DraftKings $4,400, FanDuel $11)

Denzel Dumfries continues to look like one of the deadliest strikers of the tourney, and being a defender means he does not cost a forward slot. His mix of open-play volume and assisted shots provide upside. The sub-$7,000 price is one of the cheaper ones for a scoring threats on the most explosive offense on the slate.

Oleksandr Zinchenko comes at a low cost. He is a defender from Manchester City that sits as a winger for Ukraine. His created chances and open-play volume are known well in his few starts in the EPL. Zinchenko is an underrated defender with 2.99 clears at the club level. He averages 1.57 shots per match and two created chances and four tackles won/interceptions at the national level.

Other Options: Andreas Ulmer (DraftKings $3,800, FanDuel $7), Daniel Wass (DraftKings $5,000, FanDuel $12), Thomas Meunier (DraftKings $6,500, FanDuel $14)

Top Goalkeepers

Thibault Courtois (DraftKings $5,900, FanDuel $13)

Georgi Buschan (DraftKings $4,600, FanDuel $10)
