EPL Odds Report
Wolverhampton (-111) vs. Crystal Palace (+320), O/U 2.5
The EPL DFS Breakdown | Oct. 30
We have an interesting game here between two evenly matched teams. Crystal Palace is below average in the EPL, with an expected goals against of 8.7. Wolverhampton is mid tier with an expected goals against of 6.7. I would credit the fact that they are allowing 1.5 goals against to the saves made by both keepers, Rui Patricio and Vicente Guaita. I do not think this game will end without goals, as both clubs have two of the current top scorers in the league in Raul Jimenez and Wilfried Zaha. Both of them also take penalties for their respected clubs. I think this game will be very close and will end in a draw 1-1.
Captain Picks
Andros Townsend (DraftKings $14,400 FanDuel $12)
Pedro Neto (DraftKings $15,300 FanDuel $13)
In what looks to be a tight, low-scoring affair, I like taking the volume points from the set piece men of the two clubs. Andros Townsend brings a safe floor, with crossing volume from both open play and set pieces. He has added value with 6.2 tackles won/interceptions and 2.2 drawn fouls per game. Townsend’s upside comes from his 37% goal involvement in Crystal Palace’s overall scoring.
Pedro Neto ranks top 20 in the EPL in set piece corners, and he can also provide open-play ones. He provides offense in different ways, including two shots and 3.16 chances created per game, and he has contributed on 33% of the Wolves overall scoring this season. To add to his value, Neto accrues a few drawn fouls and interceptions.
I give the advantage to Townsend over Neto for two reasons. First, Neto should draw the higher ownership, along with Raul Jimenez. Second, Neto has the set pieces well covered but is at risk to less open-play action with the likes of Daniel Podence and Adama Traore around.
Other Options:Â Raul Jimenez (DraftKings $18,00, FanDuel $14)
Flex Picks
Wilfried Zaha (DraftKings $10,800 FanDuel $15)
Wilfried Zaha is the scoring threat for his club. He has accounted for 75% goal contribution for Crystal Palace on the year. He is top 25 in the EPL in shot volume and top five in fouls drawn. The Wolves do not leak goals that often, so I do not think I will get to Zaha as a Captain play unless running 10-plus lineups, but the upside is certainly there. He should also get leverage over Jimenez, Neto or the other Wolves wingers, depending which one starts.
Daniel Podence (DraftKings $8,800 FanDuel $12)
If Traore gets the start, I like him equal to Podence. I would not expect both to start, but if they do, I think Neto would be left off and bump Podence up, as he should assume the corner sets for the Wolves. Podence is averaging three chances created and 1.4 shots to complement the few crosses and drawn fouls. Beware the minutes for either Podence and Traore, as neither seems to complete more than 70 minutes per game while starting.
Other Options:Â Nelson Semedo (DraftKings $6,200, FanDuel $7), Romain Saiss (DraftKings $5,200, FanDuel $9), Jeffrey Schlupp (DraftKings $5,600, FanDuel $8), Michy Batshuayi (DraftKings $6,800, FanDuel $13).
