This Week in DFS is a weekly feature highlighting anything newsworthy in the DFS community. Have any DFS tweets or articles you think should be included? We’d love to see them. Tweet them at @AwesemoDFS and @Awesemo_com using #ThisWeekinDFS.
Super Bowl LI didn’t disappoint with the largest offensive output of any Super Bowl ever. The Eagles prevailed over the Patriots, despite Brady’s big performance, but the big winner of the night was the world’s most contrarian dude.
Dude who won the @DraftKings SHOWDOWN Milly Maker had Nick Foles and three Patriots receivers. Skill game!

Until he wasn’t.

The long wait until Week 1 now begins…

The NBA controversy of the week was, of course, #SmoothieKingGate, the “rainout” caused by a leak in the Pelican’s Arena.
DFS Twitter was not pleased.
Opening twitter for the morning feels like opening your front door in Philly the day after the Super Bowl, trying to see what all got burned down. I'm just here for the trade deadline; don't hurt me.
— Edward Fear (@FastEddieFear) February 8, 2018
Some blamed the sites.
First site to offer refunds gets my NBA business the rest of the year. Any site who doesn't offer refunds won't see me in NBA rest of the year.
— Eric Crain (@EricCrain) February 8, 2018
And at least one of them obliged.
Refunding anyone who didn’t cash who had at least one player in the rained out game. https://t.co/qDg3swobSR

While others directed their anger elsewhere.
If a #DFS site goes down or they have a software issue that costs me, I'll be mad at them. But for tonight, I'm mad at the basketball organization valued at $1 billion for not having a proper arena.

Thanks for trying @PelicansNBA

I am boycotting Smoothie King forever lol/whatta f***cking nightmare

But we all know who the real culprit was.
☔️🏀 The ol’ basketball rain delay. RIP my mentions. https://t.co/MRDBb2HiG8

The days that followed had DFS’ers a little on edge.

Looks like @KevinRothWx has confirmed that there is a small amount of frost on the windows of the Air Canada Centre. The league says there is a 50/50 chance the game is postponed.
— Turd Ferguson (@gneiffer07) February 9, 2018
But the silver-lining in all of this was that DFS Twitter was finally able to agree on something.
I have changed my stance to #teamlateswap. Screw family time. I was wrong. #FanDuel #DraftKings

After tonight, I’m ready to come to the dark side. #TeamLateSwap

The world fell in love with Cedi Osman for a night. I have a feeling he may be a one-hit wonder. But just in case, a PSA for all you DFS touts.
@nvalencia30 I know you are boycotting @NBA right now, but make sure our RG peeps know it is pronounced JED-E Osman when they are on their shows today. #ItIsNotAirenado

February 9th was historic in the number of revenge games taking place. I generally don’t give credence to narratives but they’re the one exception. Some, however, may have gone a tad overboard.
