Fliff Coins Vs Cash: Is Fliff Real Money? (2026)

Seen Fliff advertised next to DraftKings and FanDuel and assumed it was just another sportsbook? The most useful thing to know is the one way it is not: on Fliff, no real money is ever wagered on your picks. It is a sweepstakes social sportsbook, which means you make predictions with virtual currency under sweepstakes rules instead of betting cash at a licensed book. That single legal distinction is why Fliff's state map looks nothing like a real-money app's, why it runs two different currencies, and why a winning balance does not become a prize the instant you tap "collect."

Get the sweepstakes model straight (what the two currencies do, which one can ever pay out, and where you are allowed to play) and Fliff stops looking like a knockoff sportsbook and starts looking like what it is: a low-cost, no-real-money way to make sports picks with real prizes on the line.

In Summary

• Fliff Is A Sweepstakes Social Sportsbook. You make picks with virtual currency, not real-money bets. That model, not a state sports-betting license, is what sets where Fliff can operate.
• Two Currencies, Only One Pays. Fliff Coins are free, for-fun, and worth nothing outside the app. Fliff Cash is the redeemable sweepstakes currency, the side that can turn into a prize.
• The Welcome Offer Stacks Two Layers. Claim free daily credits with no purchase, then optionally spend $5 and get $50 in Fliff Cash, plus a 100% match on your first purchase up to $100 with code STOKASTIC3. Confirm the live offer on the signup screen before you buy.
• Cashing Out Has A Published Gate. Your Fliff Cash must be played through, then reach Fliff's $50 minimum (50 Fliff Cash) to redeem, with a $5,000 cap per sweepstakes period.
• Free To Play, 18+, Not Everywhere. No purchase is necessary, you must be 18 or older, and the sweepstakes is excluded in 20 states (listed below). The signup flow is the final word for your state.

What Is Fliff, Exactly?

Start with the label people get wrong. Fliff calls itself a social sportsbook, and the word doing the work there is social. You browse the same kinds of markets you would at a real-money book (moneylines, spreads, totals, player props across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and college sports) but you enter them with virtual currency, not a deposited bankroll. There is no cash bet, no line to withdraw the second a game ends, and no state sports-betting license behind it. Legally, Fliff is a promotional sweepstakes, the same framework that lets a fast-food chain run a "no purchase necessary" prize game.

That framework changes everything downstream: because no real money is wagered, Fliff answers to sweepstakes law instead of gambling law, and that legal footing shapes the currencies, the payout gate, and the map of where you can play. Readers of our explainer on what Onyx Odds is will find the model familiar: Fliff is another operator running the same sweepstakes playbook, with its own currencies and its own rules.

Fliff Coins Vs. Fliff Cash: The Two Currencies

Almost every question about Fliff traces back to this split, and the two currencies are not interchangeable.

The bottom row is the whole game. Fliff Coins are the practice sandbox, worth nothing outside the app no matter how many you stack. Fliff Cash is the side that can actually become a prize, so when Fliff advertises a bonus, the number that matters is how much Fliff Cash it puts in your account.

The one rule to remember: Fliff Coins are for fun; Fliff Cash is the prize. Every question about "can I cash this out" is really a question about your Fliff Cash balance.

So the honest way to read Fliff's welcome offer is to ask how much Fliff Cash it hands you, and what it takes to get that Fliff Cash out. Here is both.

How The Fliff Welcome Offer Works

The sign-up deal comes in two layers, and mixing them up is where new players get confused. The first layer is free: Fliff hands out daily free credits with no purchase and no deposit, because a sweepstakes has to offer a no-cost way in. That is your no-cost way to learn the app before spending a dollar.

The second layer is the first-purchase bonus. Right now, spend $5 on your first Coin purchase with code STOKASTIC3, and Fliff credits you $50 in Fliff Cash, plus a 100% match on your first purchase up to $100. The exact match amount scales with the size of your first purchase, so read how it applies on the signup screen before you buy. Sign up through our link with STOKASTIC3 attached:

That last row is the one I keep coming back to. The bonus is not cash you withdraw the moment you buy in. It is a stack of the redeemable currency you make picks with, and it becomes a prize only after it clears one requirement most people never read about until they try to cash out. That requirement is where the sweepstakes model shows its teeth.

Cashing Out On Fliff: A Worked Example Of The Gate

Say you claim the full bundle: your free daily credits to learn on, then a $5 first purchase that lands you $50 in Fliff Cash, plus Fliff's 100% first-purchase match. You put 10 Fliff Cash on an MLB hitter to go over his total-bases line, the pick hits, and the winnings come back as Fliff Cash. That balance is still not a prize yet. Two things stand between it and a payout, and to Fliff's credit, it publishes both.

First, the playthrough: Fliff Cash has to be played at least once in an eligible Fliff Cash contest before it counts toward redemption, and the app can require more than one pass depending on the amount. Treat "one lap" as a floor, not a promise. A single required lap is very survivable, but each extra lap is another chance to bust the balance before it ever gets to leave. Second, the redemption minimum: your played-through Fliff Cash has to reach 50 Fliff Cash, which currently corresponds to a $50 redemption request, before you can request a payout, with a $5,000 cap per sweepstakes period.

That $50 floor is the number worth memorizing, because it is the actual line between "I won some picks" and "I can cash out." Here Fliff separates itself from a chunk of the sweeps field: some apps make you clear a minimum they never print, so you are guessing at the finish line the whole way. Fliff states it at $50, which means you can do the math before you buy in. Play your bonus Fliff Cash through, keep the balance above $50, and the payout button sits a known distance away instead of behind a mystery number.

The math that matters: a $5 first purchase can hand you $50 in Fliff Cash, but that $50 is a starting line, not a finish line. It has to survive at least one playthrough lap and stay at or above the $50 redemption floor before any of it becomes a real prize.

Where Fliff Is Legal: Eligible States And Age

The sweepstakes model gives Fliff a wide footprint, but not an unlimited one. Per Fliff's official sweepstakes rules, play is open to US residents 18 or older (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, whichever occurs later) at the time of entry, excluding Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Washington, and West Virginia. Live in one of those 20 states and no promo code changes the outcome, because the app will not let you play.

This is the payoff of the model, not a random blocklist. Because Fliff runs under sweepstakes rules rather than a state sports-betting license, no real money is wagered on your picks, and that legal line, not a betting license, is what draws the map. Sweepstakes rules shift as legislators revisit them, so eligibility can change, and the signup flow is the final word for your state. For a deeper look at how these operators pick their state maps, our breakdown of Onyx Odds legal states walks the same logic through a sibling sweepstakes app.

Finding An Edge On Fliff: Price The Pick First

Back to that $50 gate. Because the playthrough can push your Fliff Cash through more than one pick before it reaches the redemption line, every one of those picks has to be worth making. A free stack of bonus Fliff Cash lowers the cost of a bad pick; it does not turn a bad pick into a good one, and on Fliff the cost of a bad pick is an extra lap you did not want to run.

That makes pricing your picks the highest-leverage habit on the platform. On a real-money book, a winning bet cashes the instant the game ends; on Fliff, every pick is one more playthrough lap your Fliff Cash has to survive before it can redeem, so a coin-flip slip costs you twice. Fliff's boards run on the same games and players as the sportsbooks and pick'em apps you already use, so the projection you would use to attack a PrizePicks or Underdog slate works just as well on a Fliff slip. Build the pick around a real number: Stokastic Prop Tools (PrizePicks + Underdog projections) is a projection tool, and the tool surfaces a data-backed number for each player on the slate. Compare that projection to the total Fliff is offering, and lean Fliff's way only when its side reads as the better number once you have accounted for that playthrough lap.

The tell to watch for: if a projection pegs the over as the more likely side but your Fliff slip is on the under, your own research disagrees with your ticket. That is your cue to reconsider before you spend a lap on it. Player props tend to swing harder than a straight game line, so the projection check earns its keep.

For the deeper slate work — ownership, stacks, and the game-level context behind those player numbers — the MLB DFS projections, ownership and stacks in the DataHub give you the same edge you would bring to a cash-game lineup, applied to a sweepstakes slip. Do that a few times and you stop guessing which side to tap, which is exactly what the playthrough rewards: every required pick becomes one you would have made anyway, not a coin flip you are running just to reach that $50 line. Is Fliff Legit? The Honest Read

Legit in the sense most people mean (is it a real product that actually pays) yes. Fliff is an established sweepstakes operator that publishes its rules, prints its redemption floor, and processes real prize payouts once you clear the gate. What it is not is a real-money sportsbook, and going in expecting one is how people get frustrated. You are not placing cash bets; you are making picks with sweepstakes currency, and the "winnings" are prizes you redeem after a playthrough. Judge it as what it is, a free-to-play, no-real-money way to make sports picks with prizes attached, and Fliff holds up. Judge it as a stand-in for DraftKings and it will disappoint you, because it was never trying to be one. New to the sweepstakes model itself?
