Always confirm you are on the site you are actually entering.
- Contest Type: choose classic or showdown. Showdown (single-game) contests carry their own captain-multiplier scoring, so that data loads separately.

The Core Projection Columns
Once the slate is set, the left side of the hitter table is the raw ingredients of a projection:

The column baseball rookies skip and pros never do is Order. In MLB DFS, opportunity is everything: a leadoff or two-hole hitter gets an extra plate appearance or two over the course of a game compared with a guy hitting seventh, and over a full slate those extra trips to the plate are where fantasy points come from. That is why a projected total for a No. 2 hitter is built on firmer ground than the same total for a No. 6 hitter, because one loose lineup-card change can move a bat from the heart of the order to the bottom and cut his opportunity. Read the batting order first and the projection second.
The one habit that matters most: confirm the batting order before you trust a projection, and re-check it once lineups are official. A projected total means something very different when it rides on a confirmed two-hole spot versus a hitter the manager might drop to seventh against a tough same-handed starter.
Value And Ownership: The Roster-Construction Layer
Value, fantasy points per $1,000 of salary, is the great equalizer between an expensive star and a cheap fill-in: it tells you which one returns more production for the cap space so you can afford bats elsewhere. A cheap hitter who just got bumped to the top of the order is the classic value spike, because his salary has not moved yet.
Projected ownership is the field's plan written down. On its own it is just context, but paired with the Sims metrics below, ownership is where tournament leverage is born. The Sims Metrics That Separate Good Lineups From Great Ones

Ceiling and floor are not the most or fewest points a hitter could conceivably score; they are the top and bottom of a normal game, the realistic range you should plan around. The Top Stacks Tool: The MLB-Specific Edge
Everything above reads one hitter at a time. Baseball, though, is a correlated game (when a team bats around, four hitters cash together), so the DataHub also gives you a Top Stacks view that scores whole teams instead of individuals. - The Park And The Run Environment: the biggest environmental lever there is. Before you upgrade a stack, read its implied team total, the park's run and home-run factor, the handedness of the lineup against the starter, and the temperature and wind. A high-total offense in a hitter's park with the wind blowing out is a stack the raw projections may still be catching up to.
- The Stack's Ownership Versus Its Optimal Rate: the same leverage idea from the player table, one level up. A stack the Sims love that the field has not piled into yet is the leverage stack you are hunting for in tournaments.

A Worked Read: Finding The Leverage Stack
Here is the exact sequence I run off the DataHub when I sit down with a slate, and it pays off the promise from the top of this article, finding the stack before the field does:
- Open Top Stacks and sort by optimal rate. This surfaces the teams the Sims put in winning lineups most often, not just the highest raw projected totals.
- Cross-check the matchup. For the top few stacks, glance at the opposing starter and the park. The one I keep coming back to is the strong offense facing a fly-ball starter in a home-run park, and that is the outlier the whole read is hunting for.
- Check the stack's leverage. Compare that stack's projected ownership to its optimal rate. If the Sims love it but the field has not caught up, you have a leverage stack, not just a good one, which is exactly the ownership gap we flagged earlier.
- Anchor with a pitcher, fill with value. Sort the pitcher table by projected points to lock an ace on the other side, then drop back to the hitter table, sort by value, and grab a cheap bat (often one who just moved up the order) to pay for the stack.

Staying Current When A Late Scratch Breaks Your Stack
MLB lineups drop late and change often, and the most dangerous moment is a scratch that lands on the stack you just built. - Check the timestamps first. The last-updated stamps at the top of the screen tell you whether the projections and ownership have already absorbed the news. If they just refreshed, the numbers below already reflect the change; if not, treat them as pre-scratch.
- Filter the stack back up. Filter by team contains and type your stack's team so only that roster is on screen, and confirm the new batting order — a scratch usually shifts everyone behind him up a spot, which quietly helps the bats still in your lineup.
- Re-read the Top Stacks row. The team's projected stack total and its optimal rate will have moved. If the stack still grades out and its ownership drops because the field is fading the injury, your leverage just went up, not down.
- Swap with the value column. Sort the hitter table by value to find the cheap replacement bat, ideally one whose own order just improved, so you keep the stack four or five deep without blowing the salary cap.
That is the whole point of reading the data on one page: the news that scares the field into abandoning a stack is often the news that hands you a cheaper, lower-owned version of the same stack.
