R.J. Barrett Fewer Than 21.5 Points
This pick assumes that Julius Randle will play tonight. If Randle does play, the scoring output for Barrett is likely to decrease, as Randle is the primary scorer for the Knicks. Barrett has struggled in the past when playing alongside Randle, and if Randle is in the lineup today, it should be a similar story.
Even if Randle is not in the lineup, Barrett is not a lock to score more than 21.5 points. He has been in consistent this season and has had some poor games where he has struggled to get his shot to fall. It is worth noting that Barrett is also facing a tough Heat defense, even if Jimmy Butler ends up not playing.
Bam Adebayo More Than 36.0 Fantasy Points
Unlike with Randle, here the assumption is that Butler will not. Butler badly turned his ankle in Game 1, and if he sits, this could be a big game for Adebayo.
Adebayo is the focal point of the Miami Heat offense when Butler is not on the court. He has the ability to score, rebound and assist at a high level, and he will likely be asked to do more with Butler out. If he does not perform at a high level, the Knicks will smack the Heat around, so this is a big game for Adebayo. A projection of 36 fantasy points is simply not enough if Butler sits. Once he is confirmed out, this projection could jump up to 40.0 or higher, so there is a lot of value in taking Adebayo at his current mark.
