Andy Dalton Says He Will Be The Bears’ QB1 During Introductory Presser

When the Chicago Bears signed Andy Dalton to a one-year contract earlier in the week, it was widely assumed that he would be the teams starting quarterback next season.

However, there are likely still some dominos to fall with quarterbacks around the league, and the NFL Draft still has not happened yet. While Dalton gives the Bears a veteran with experience, maybe he was just an insurance move while the Bears continue to look for other quarterback options? Yeah, probably not.

Dalton had his introductory press conference over Zoom today, and claimed he was told that he would be the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears in 2021.

Interestingly, Andy Dalton said he talked with a lot of his new Bears teammates, but not disgruntled receiver Allen Robinson. A-Rob has been unhappy with his contract situation with the Bears over the past year, and was recently slapped with the franchise tag.

It’s still unclear whether Robinson will report to camp without a holdout if he doesn’t get a long term deal with the team. Maybe Andy Dalton wants to call his top offensive weapon? Seems like that would be the QB1 thing to do. What do I know, though?
