Most Passing Yards 2026: The Models' Favorite Isn't On Your Sunday Slate
By Jake Hari
September 3, 2026

Kalshi's market on who throws for the most passing yards in the 2026 NFL season is three names deep at the top: Dak Prescott, Jared Goff and Joe Burrow. We handed the 28-quarterback field to nine AI models without showing them a price, and they came back with the defending champion, Matthew Stafford, on top and the market's three favorites behind him. That disagreement is the story on the full board, which walks every contract and the trade tape. This page is the DFS reading of the same market, and it starts from a scheduling fact the long version never had to price: the models' favorite plays Thursday night U.S. time, in Melbourne, so the DraftKings Sunday main slate never sees him. The passing title is a pure volume market. DraftKings prices quarterbacks on something else. The gap between those two ladders is the Week 1 read, and the one top-three passing name that Sunday's salary ladder prices eighth costs $6,000.
Why The Passing Title Is An Attempts Market
Every seat read the passing-yards ledger since 2000 the same way: a title takes roughly 575 attempts across 17 games at a decent rate, against a median winning total of 4,830 yards. The 2025 attempts column is the whole argument: Prescott threw 600 passes, Stafford 597, Goff 578, Bo Nix a league-high 612 at the worst rate in the group. Drake Maye threw only 492 at 8.9 yards per attempt, the best rate on the board, which is why the panel likes him and why it can't rank him higher on a 14-3 team that rarely trails.
The one number the market charges Stafford for is 38. The panel priced it and moved on: the ledger's only leader past 37 is Tom Brady, at 40 and again at 44, a thin sample rather than an exclusion. Stafford was a full camp participant this summer after back trouble cost him last August, and every seat put him first or within a point of first. The disagreement is the ranking: the market has three quarterbacks ahead of the champion after Thursday morning's Maye sell-off (four when the long board was priced Wednesday evening), and the panel has none.

The Board, Read For Sunday
Prices are resting bid and ask from Kalshi's live book as of September 3, 2026, 11:00 UTC. The AI median is the nine-seat number from the full board, generated price-blind on September 2 and not re-run since. The DraftKings salary is the Sunday main slate (12 games, first kickoff 1 p.m. Eastern, September 13); a quarterback playing outside that window shows his game day instead. All 28 midpoints sum to about 113 cents, so every price runs rich by roughly 13 cents on the dollar; compare the names to each other.

| Quarterback | 2025 line | Kalshi bid / ask | AI median | Week 1 | DK Sunday salary |

| Josh Allen (BUF) | 460 att · 3,668 yds | 5¢ / 6¢ | 2.5% | at HOU, Sun. 1 p.m. | $7,000 |
| Any Unlisted Leader (The Field) | Tagovailoa, Watson, Cousins, Murray, Dart | no contract | 7.9% |
The field row is the scenario Kalshi does not sell: five Week 1 starters have no contract, and if any of them wins the title every contract on the board pays zero. The only bid that moved since the long page went up is Maye's. His book read 7 bid, 9 ask on Wednesday evening; on Thursday morning a seller hit the bid for 285 contracts at 7 cents and about 180 more at 5, and the quote settled at 5 and 7. Nothing in the fetched record changed for him. The book just found out how thin the buying was below 7.
Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated event-contract exchange whose sports contracts are in active federal litigation (on August 28, 2026 the Ninth Circuit ruled Nevada can regulate them as sports bets); it requires users to be 18+ under its own platform policy, and availability varies by state as of September 2026. In payout terms, an 8-cent Stafford contract turns $100 into $1,250 if he wins the title and nothing if he does not. These are model estimates, not predictions of fact and not financial advice.
Two Ladders That Rank The Same Quarterbacks Differently
DraftKings prices a quarterback on total fantasy points, and rushing yards count in that number. Kalshi's contract pays on passing yards alone. So the most expensive quarterback on Sunday's main slate is Josh Allen at $7,000, a price built on the 112 carries and 579 rushing yards the passing-title market pays him nothing for, and the panel prices him at 2.5% for the title. Goff, at $6,000, sits eighth on that ladder, below Allen, Burrow, Lamar Jackson ($6,800), Jalen Hurts ($6,600), Jayden Daniels ($6,500), Caleb Williams ($6,300) and Justin Herbert ($6,100). On the passing board he is tied for second with the market and with the panel. Nobody is wrong: DraftKings is pricing Sunday's fourth quarter, Kalshi is pricing 17 games, and Goff at $6,000 and 12 cents is the one name cheap on both clocks.
The game environment is the check on that read. Kalshi's Week 1 markets have Detroit at 73 cents bid, 74 ask to win, a home favorite of about a touchdown (Detroit by more than 6.5 points trades 53 and 54), with the total priced right around 50 (over 49.5 at 52 and 53). Against a Saints team whose highest-priced pass-catcher on the DraftKings feed is Chris Olave ($6,700), that is the shape of a game that hands the fourth quarter to Jahmyr Gibbs ($8,000) and caps Goff's attempts in this one game, without saying anything about his season. Cincinnati's spot is closer: the Bengals are 64 bid, 66 ask to win, with over 50.5 points at 48 and 49. A tighter game at a similar total is the better single-week passing script, which is exactly why it costs $900 more at quarterback. A one-week contest cannot buy a season-long claim, so read the passing board for what it is on Sunday: a tell that Goff carries title-level volume whenever the script allows it, at a price that assumes it will not. The Week 1 NFL predictions board runs that comparison game by game, and the NFL DFS quarterback strategy guide covers the rushing-floor math that makes Allen the salary king.
The Week 1 Stacks, With The Injury Tags Attached
A quarterback is only a DFS play with his pass-catchers attached. Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown ($7,500) is the volume stack, with Jameson Williams ($6,000) as the deep-ball piece and Sam LaPorta ($4,400) carrying a questionable tag on DraftKings' player status as of September 3. Burrow's stack is the higher ceiling and the higher risk this week: Ja'Marr Chase ($7,800) and Tee Higgins ($6,300) both carry questionable tags on the same feed, so that stack is a Sunday-morning decision. In a tighter game the bring-back is live, and Emeka Egbuka ($6,200), also questionable, is Tampa Bay's priciest receiver.
The stack I keep landing on is the cheaper one. Goff with St. Brown is the only pairing on the slate where the quarterback is a top-three name on the passing-title board and priced outside the top seven on the salary ladder. The game script argues against it for one week; the volume case runs all season. Ownership decides how much of that to chase, and the Week 1 numbers land in the NFL DFS projections, ownership and stacks in the DataHub as soon as the slate posts. The fantasy QB1 board is where Allen and Hurts get the ranking their legs earn.

The Bottom Line
The passing-title market and the DraftKings salary ladder disagree about the same quarterbacks because they pay for different things: the public price on pocket volume says Goff belongs with Prescott and Burrow, while Sunday's salary ladder prices him eighth. The decision rule that falls out of it: Goff with St. Brown is the tournament stack when the DataHub's Week 1 ownership projection has the field chasing Burrow, and Burrow's extra $900 is the better spend only once Chase and Higgins clear their questionable tags on Sunday morning. Stafford, the panel's top name, is a Thursday problem and a Melbourne one, and Maye's Thursday-morning sellers show how thin this board is below the top three. When the final leaderboard settles it, every panel number above gets graded in public.
