The 2026 NFL season kicks off tonight in Seattle, and the most expensive rookie on Kalshi's top fantasy rookie board will not take a snap until Sunday. As of September 9, 2026, the contract on Jeremiyah Love, the third pick of April's draft, shows a 23-cent bid and a 62-cent ask. Buyers and sellers sit 39 cents apart on him, because the Arizona Cardinals spent the last month deciding how much of their backfield he gets.

The board settles on one question. Which member of the 2026 rookie class scores the most fantasy points across the full regular season, judged on Sleeper's points-per-reception scoring, the platform Kalshi names in the contract terms. We handed all 45 listed rookies, plus the possibility that none of them wins, to nine AI models and let none of them see a price. They agree with the market about who the best rookie in this class is. They disagree about what kind of season it is, and the name they rate third is the one traders have spent the week dumping.

The Class Leader Opens As A Backup

Love arrived in Arizona as the highest-drafted running back in the class, and Sleeper's own player ranking puts him 15th among every player in the league. The next rookie on this board sits 39 spots below him. Then he rolled his ankle.

The injury is a high-ankle sprain suffered on August 13 in the preseason opener against the Raiders. Then came the depth chart. On September 8 the Cardinals published their unofficial order for Sunday's opener at the Chargers: Tyler Allgeier first, Love second, Bam Knight third, as reported by Pro Football Talk. Head coach Mike LaFleur has said he is optimistic Love plays, with the caveat that he splits carries early.

Two other sources still list Love as Arizona's RB1: Sleeper's ledger and ESPN's depth chart, both of which describe the season rather than Sunday. The panel was handed the disagreement rather than a resolution, and every seat weighed it the same way. The team's own dated document governs Week 1. It does not govern January.

Watch what the price did with that. Love's contract closed at 29, 28, 27 and 31 cents on the four days ending September 8. This morning it printed at 65 cents on fewer than 20 contracts while the best standing bid sat at 23. One small trade moved the last-sale number 34 cents; nobody has offered to buy at anything close to it. On a board this thin, the bid and the ask are the price, and the gap between them is the story.

Nine Seasons Say A Quarterback Wins This

Here is the part of the market most fantasy managers get wrong. This is a raw points race under one scoring system, so a quarterback's passing yards and touchdowns compete head to head with a running back's touches. Over the nine seasons Sleeper has scored, quarterbacks have taken four of these titles, receivers three and running backs two.

That is the path 2026 closed before anyone played a game. The Associated Press reported this week that no rookie quarterback is set to start in Week 1, which has happened only once before in the last 19 seasons. Fernando Mendoza, the first pick of the draft, opens behind Kirk Cousins in Las Vegas. He is the first quarterback taken first overall to begin his career on the bench since Baker Mayfield in 2018, and the last six No. 1 picks before him all started the opener.

Which is where the rest of the record earns its keep, because a full season of starts has never been the requirement. Alvin Kamara won this race in 2017 with three starts. Garrett Wilson won it in 2022 and Jaxson Dart last season, each with 12. Three of the nine winners took the title without starting 13 games, and Cousins turns 39 next August.

So the panel refused to write the quarterbacks off, and every one of the nine seats landed on Mendoza as the best version of that bet. The market has spent the week going the other way. His contract closed at 19 cents on September 5 and shows a 2-cent bid this morning.

The winning total has run anywhere from 215.7 points to 385.8, with a median of 302.6. Four of the nine races finished inside 20 points. Two of those were desperately close: Dart beat Ashton Jeanty by 1.5 last season, and Ja'Marr Chase beat Najee Harris by 1.9 in 2021. Nobody on this year's board needs a monster season to win. Wilson took the 2022 title with 215.7 points and 12 starts.

The Board

Nine seats scored all 45 contracts in one pass, twice, with a revision round in between, and the Panel column is the middle number of the nine after that round, the blend we grade in public. They also scored a 46th outcome, which sits in the second-to-last row: if the rookie who leads the class is not one of these 45 names, every listed contract pays zero. Read the two price columns as a range, because the best bid is what a buyer will pay you today and the ask is what a seller wants.

Only 18 of the 45 contracts have both a buyer and a seller posted. The other 27 show an ask at a penny or two with nobody bidding at all, which is a displayed market rather than a real quote. Add up the bid column and you get 79 cents; add up the asks and you get 221. Neither total lands near 100, so no number in either column is a probability you can read straight off the screen. The board has traded 54,386 contracts in its life, with 50,397 of them still open. That trading is spread thin rather than concentrated: the four busiest contracts hold about 22% of the volume between them, and the most-traded name on the board is Jadarian Price at 4,545.

That unlisted group is bigger than it sounds. There are 103 rookies on NFL rosters right now at a scoring position without a contract on this board, and although the listed 45 cover every rookie Sleeper ranks inside its top 190, history says the group wins sometimes. Kamara went 67th in the 2017 draft and Nacua 177th in 2023.

Where The Panel Changed Its Mind

After the first round, each seat read the other eight rationales with the names stripped off and could revise. Three moved hard.

Fable arrived with Love at 25% and left at 14.5%, the largest single revision on the board, after the group's reading of the Arizona depth chart landed:

Dark Horses The Panel Won't Dismiss

Fable put about 15 points of its board on rookies who need somebody ahead of them to get hurt, and called it a match for the base rate. Three of the last nine winners never started 13 games.

• Makai Lemon (PHI, pick 20). The panel has him at 4% while the best bid on his contract is a penny. He opens third in a Philadelphia receiver room behind DeVonta Smith, in an offense that scores.
• Ty Simpson (LAR, pick 13). Nobody is bidding for him at all. The panel still gives him 3.9%, because the only thing between a first-round quarterback and the Dart path is two names on a depth chart.
• Malachi Fields (NYG, pick 74). A third-round receiver working as the Giants' second option behind Malik Nabers, at 3.5%.
• The handcuffs. Mike Washington Jr. sits behind Ashton Jeanty, Emmett Johnson behind Kenneth Walker III, Kaelon Black behind Christian McCaffrey. Each is one absence from real volume, and the panel prices them at 3.0%, 2.5% and 1.8%.
• Jordyn Tyson (NO, pick 8). The eighth pick of the draft went on injured reserve with a hamstring strain on August 30 and will miss at least four games, with the return timeline reported at roughly two months. The panel has him at 1%, and his contract has no buyer.

What Would Change The Panel's Mind

Every trigger below is a specific event you can check yourself, and every seat named a version of the first two.

• Cousins is benched or hurt before Week 6. Mendoza moves toward the high teens and the running backs come down. This is the single largest mover on the board.
• Love takes a clear majority of Arizona's backfield touches on Sunday. Opus said that pushes him toward 22 to 25, which would end the argument about the depth chart in one afternoon.
• Zach Charbonnet comes off the physically-unable-to-perform list and reclaims Seattle's backfield. The seats that priced this trigger cut Price by four to five points, because his whole case is the job he holds while Charbonnet finishes rehabbing a January ACL tear.
• Ashton Jeanty, already carrying a questionable tag, misses time in Las Vegas. One seat has Mike Washington's 3% doubling, and the backup tier stops being a lottery ticket.
