FanDuel MLB DFS Cheat Sheet: Aug. 28 Picks And Stacks
By Sam Smith
August 28, 2026

Today's free FanDuel MLB DFS cheat sheet from Stokastic settles the hardest slot first. Dylan Cease tops the Aug. 28 projections at 39.63 FanDuel points, and the field is all the way there at 48.2% projected ownership. Unlike most towering chalk, the Sims agree, rostering Cease at 48.7% top-150 exposure. On a one-pitcher site, that settles the arm. Tonight's separation comes from the bats, and mostly from one game: Baltimore against the Athletics.
The Quick Answer
Play Cease; there is no leverage in a pivot for its own sake. The bats are the edge: Pete Alonso at 36.7% exposure on just 19.0% ownership, Jackson Chourio the top leverage play at 18.7%, and an Orioles-Athletics game holding both top stack slots. The full board and the Baltimore build are below.
Today's Board For Aug. 28

| Panel | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Top Projections (Proj FP) | Dylan Cease 39.63 | Cam Schlittler 35.36 | Logan Henderson 33.39 | Reid Detmers 31.58 | Hunter Brown 28.18 |
| Highest Ownership (Own%) | Dylan Cease 48.2% | Ronald Acuna Jr. 19.7% | Pete Alonso 19.0% | Cam Schlittler 17.9% | Gunnar Henderson 13.6% |
| Top Values (Value) | Jeff McNeil 4.32 | Lawrence Butler 4.01 | Gunnar Henderson 4.00 | Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 3.98 | Pete Alonso 3.94 |
| Top Exposures (Exp%) | Dylan Cease 48.7% | Pete Alonso 36.7% | Gunnar Henderson 28.7% | Jackson Chourio 28.0% | Ronald Acuna Jr. 26.7% |
| Leverage Plays (Lev%) | Jackson Chourio 18.7% | Pete Alonso 17.0% | Lawrence Butler 17.0% | Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 14.7% | Jeff McNeil 14.6% |
| Top 4-Stacks (Exp%) | BAL vs ATH 14.7% | ATH vs BAL 10.7% | PHI vs LAA 10.0% | ATL vs COL 8.7% | CWS vs MIN 6.7% |
Alonso's line is the one I keep coming back to: 19.0% ownership, yet 36.7% exposure and 17.0% leverage. The Sims roster him at nearly double the field's rate; that gap, not a pitcher pivot, is where this slate is won. Cam Schlittler (35.36, 17.9% ownership) is the field's pivot arm, but he never cracks the Sims' top-five exposures — the sheet gives you no reason to leave Cease.
Stacks On FanDuel's Four-Batter Cap
FanDuel caps you at four batters per team, and Baltimore-Athletics is the only game in the stack panel twice: the Orioles at 14.7%, the Athletics' run-back at 10.7%. Gunnar Henderson fronts the Baltimore side (4.00 value, 28.7% exposure on 13.6% ownership); Lawrence Butler carries the Athletics' answer at 4.01 value and 17.0% leverage. On a four-man cap, correlation means two short sides of one game, and the freed slots go to one-off bats: Chourio (18.7% leverage, no Milwaukee stack in the top five), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (3.98, 14.7% leverage) and Jeff McNeil (top value, 4.32). FanDuel's flatter scoring narrows what a fade buys you (FanDuel vs. DraftKings covers why), and the sheet agrees on the biggest chalk bat: Ronald Acuna Jr. is 26.7% exposure against 19.7% ownership, so inside the 8.7% Atlanta-Colorado stack I'm eating that chalk, not fading it.

Worked Example: Henderson Into The Baltimore Build
Gunnar Henderson's row is the entry, and the reason is cross-panel agreement: value, exposure and his team's stack all point at the same game.
- Start him: 4.00 value, 28.7% exposure against 13.6% ownership — the Sims more than double the field on a bat the field barely holds.
- Extend to four Orioles in the 14.7% top stack. Two of the board's top three values (Butler 4.01, Henderson 4.00) come from this one game; the sheet is saying its scoring concentrates there, not just that the teams are popular.
- Run it back with Butler from the 10.7% Athletics side, so the build keeps the game's ceiling whichever dugout provides it.
- Finish: Cease in the pitcher slot, then Alonso, Chourio or McNeil in the freed slots; confirm salary and position fit in the MLB DFS projections, ownership and stacks in the DataHub.

Half the field lands on the same arm tonight, and for once the Sims say fine — that 48% is not the number worth fighting. The fight is Alonso at 19.0% and two short sides of Baltimore-Athletics. That call is Aug. 28.
