Aaron Rodgers Next Team Odds: Steelers Or Retirement

The Quick Answer

The Aaron Rodgers next team market on Kalshi is about as answered as an open market gets: Pittsburgh is bid 94 cents and offered at 96, roughly a 95% implied probability, after Rodgers signed a one-year deal worth up to $25 million and told reporters at May OTAs that 2026 is his final season. The live number on this board is the tail: Retires/No Team is quoted 5 bid, 7 ask, and Kalshi's own dedicated retirement binary prices the same basic fear even cheaper. What that 95% answer and its 5-to-7-cent tail do to a fantasy draft board, plus the cheaper sibling market that says part of that tail is not even football risk, is below.

If you searched "aaron rodgers next team" this month, most of what ranks is a museum piece: pages still debating the Giants and the Raiders from a news cycle that ended when Rodgers re-upped in Pittsburgh. The market moved on. This page is the current answer, read live from the exchange on August 13, 2026, and translated into the language a fantasy drafter actually uses in August: projections, target shares, and how much certainty you are allowed to bake into a Steelers stack. Think of it as the settled counterpart to our Tyreek Hill next team board; the two pages make a useful pair because they sit at opposite ends of the certainty spectrum.

What Kalshi's Aaron Rodgers Next Team Market Says

Kalshi lists the question as one event, KXNEXTTEAMNFL-26ARODGERS8, "Aaron Rodgers's Next Team," with 33 outcomes: all 32 franchises plus a Retires/No Team bucket. Each contract settles at $1 if that outcome happens and $0 if it does not, the structure we walk through in our sports prediction markets guide. Trading runs until November 30 at 11:59 PM ET, and the market can close early once the answer is official. When I pulled the board from Kalshi's public trade API on August 13, 323,890 contracts had changed hands across the event. Here is the board, with everything trading at the minimum tick grouped into one row:

Prices and contract counts pulled from Kalshi's public trade API, August 13, 2026. All 31 teams outside Pittsburgh show a zero bid with a penny ask, which is the exchange's minimum tick, not real buyer interest. A contract's price is its implied probability: a 96-cent ask implies a 96% chance, a 94-cent bid implies 94%, and the truth trades somewhere inside the spread. This edition is the market read.

The row worth staring at is not Pittsburgh. It is the Retires/No Team bucket, quoted 5 bid, 7 ask, with 94,215 contracts still open against Pittsburgh's 52,426 on the same pull. Be careful with the volume column, though: those are lifetime counts on a market that has been open since long before the re-signing, back when the retirement leg was the contested one, so the 181,185 traded there measures a year of news cycle, not fresh conviction. The honest way to read today's board is the quote and the open interest, and the quote says the market is still holding back five to seven cents of doubt. Where that doubt actually lives deserves a section of its own.

Why The Market Is At 95 And Not 99

The facts behind the 94/96 quote are public. Rodgers signed a one-year contract worth up to $25 million with Pittsburgh, then told reporters at the Steelers' May OTAs that 2026 will be his 22nd and final NFL season: "This is it." The hire that reopened the door was his old Green Bay coach, Mike McCarthy, brought to Pittsburgh after Mike Tomlin stepped down following 19 seasons. Green Bay's 11,698 contracts of penny-lottery volume, and Arizona's 17,327, tell you some traders bought nostalgia and noise at a cent anyway. Nobody with size joined them.

So why does a signed contract trade at 95% rather than 99%? Not because of the settlement rules. The market's primary rule is plain, "If Aaron Rodgers's next team is Pittsburgh before Dec 1, 2026, then the market resolves to Yes," and the series' contract terms count signing a contract as joining a team, so the re-signed deal squarely fits the Yes side. The doubt lives in two other places. The first is the small chance the final season never actually starts: a 42-year-old who has already announced the ending could always step away before the paperwork meets the field. Kalshi runs a separate binary on almost exactly that fear, "Will Aaron Rodgers announce their retirement in 2026?" (KXARODGRETIRE-26), which resolves Yes only on a retirement announced before the first regular-season game, and on the same August 13 pull it was quoted 1 bid, 4 ask. Sit with that spread for a second: the dedicated retirement market prices the walk-away risk at 1% to 4%, while the next-team tail holds 5% to 7%. The extra cents are the second place the doubt lives, and they are friction, not football. Buying Pittsburgh at the 96-cent ask risks 96 cents to win 4 before fees, Kalshi's fee scales with price times one-minus-price, and the capital sits committed until the market settles. Deep favorites on long-dated boards rarely trade all the way up to their true probability, a dynamic we unpack in expected value for DFS players, and this board is a textbook case.

The Fantasy Draft Translation

Here is the part written for anyone drafting this month. A 95% market is permission to project quarterback continuity, and only that. You can anchor Steelers passing volume to what Rodgers actually did in his first Pittsburgh season, 3,322 passing yards with 24 touchdowns against 7 interceptions, now installed in a McCarthy offense he knows from their 13 shared seasons in Green Bay. The target tree is a different story: Pittsburgh added Michael Pittman Jr. to start opposite DK Metcalf, so Metcalf's share still needs a fresh projection even though his quarterback no longer needs a camp-battle discount. August camp reporting has had both wideouts managing minor knocks, worth a status check on draft day. The NFL DataHub carries our projections, ownership and stacking data for exactly this kind of read, and the number one input to every Steelers projection in it, who is throwing the ball, is about as settled as an August variable gets.

The 6-cent tail is the more interesting lesson, because it is the one your league-mates are not pricing at all. Think of it the way we frame ownership and leverage: ADP treats a signed starting quarterback as binary, a 100% yes silently baked into the price of every Steelers pass-catcher, while the venue with real money on the question says roughly 95% and holds the change back for the scenario where the final season never starts. If that tail hits, every Steelers pass-catcher reprices overnight. You do not restructure a draft around a scenario the dedicated retirement market prices at 1% to 4%, but you can respect it the way a GPP player respects a low-probability, high-impact outcome: know which of your picks share the same single point of failure, and do not stack three of them in a lineup or a roster build that dies together.

A Worked Example: Reading A Steelers Stack Off This Board

Say you are weighing Metcalf as a WR2 with Pat Freiermuth as the late-round stack partner. The market read goes in three steps. One, the quarterback delivering their targets is a 94-to-96-cent proposition, so project the room off 2025 usage, not off a camp battle. Two, the shared downside on both picks is one and the same number, the walk-away tail the retirement binary quotes at 1 bid, 4 ask, so the correlated risk in the stack is real but small. Three, check the calendar: this market runs until the end of November, but your fantasy season is decided in weeks one through 17, so the scenario that matters for you, a retirement or absence before or during the season, is a subset of what the tail is pricing. That is the whole exercise, and it is the same muscle we build in prediction markets for DFS players: treat a liquid price as a projection input, then make your own roster decision with it.

Pressure-test exactly those assumptions in the Sims before your draft: Rodgers' active rate, the Metcalf and Pittman target split, Freiermuth's red-zone share, and how the stack's floor behaves if the quarterback misses time.

Where This Board Sits On The Next-Team Spectrum

Zoom out and this market is the settled end of a genre. The Tyreek Hill board is a open question, a live argument where the favorite is a bucket, not a franchise. The NFL trade deadline board is the in-season version, where these questions get asked and answered in days instead of months. The Rodgers question itself now spans two markets: this board, plus the dedicated retirement binary our sister site broke down in its Aaron Rodgers retirement model verdict. Even a settled board keeps its oddities, too: Arizona's 17,327 contracts, third most on the market, attach to no Rodgers story I can find, a standing reminder that penny buckets collect flow that has nothing to do with news. That is the real value of watching prediction markets as a fantasy tool: the prices do not just answer the question you asked, they tell you which question the money thinks is still open.

Until trading closes at the end of November, the market will keep score on the last open piece of a 22-year career: not where Aaron Rodgers plays, but whether the ending he already announced gets played out in full. Your draft board should have the first piece written in ink either way.
