Rams Vs 49ers TD Odds: The Sims' Top Player Is Kalshi's Third Choice

Prices as of Thursday, September 10, 2026, 4:46 a.m. ET, about 16 hours before kickoff. The game is 10:35 on Friday morning at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The Stokastic Sims project Puka Nacua for 21.2 DraftKings points in the Melbourne showdown, the highest number on the field, a half point ahead of Christian McCaffrey at 20.7. Kalshi's first-touchdown market disagrees about the order. McCaffrey asks 15 cents to score the game's first touchdown, Kyren Williams 14, and Nacua sits third at 10. The exchange charges 50 percent more for McCaffrey's first touchdown than for Nacua's on a projection that is half a point lower.

The question here is narrower: when the Sims and the exchange rank the same players differently, which one is pricing the first drive?

Short version, if you're in a rush: the exchange charges the running backs about twice as much per projected point as the receivers, which is normal for a first-touchdown market. Nacua is the exception it has not priced: the Sims' top projection on the field, already treated like a first-drive player, at 10 cents against 15 for McCaffrey. He is the one first-touchdown contract I would buy tonight on what the Sims say.

The Sims Against The Board

Sims projection is expected fantasy points for the game. Kalshi ask is the price in cents to buy the first-touchdown contract now; "anytime" is the same player's Kalshi ask to score at least once. Cents per point divides the first-touchdown ask by the projection.

Read down the cents-per-point column and the board sorts itself into two groups. The three running backs cost 0.72, 0.77 and 1.01 cents of first-touchdown price per projected point. Every receiver costs between 0.47 and 0.65. The quarterbacks are their own case, since a projection built on passing yards says nothing about a sneak, and both are priced at a cent or three accordingly.

Why The Exchange Charges Backs Twice As Much Per Point

The gap does not mean the exchange is wrong about receivers. A Sims projection counts every touchdown a player scores and every yard he gains, from the first snap to the last; a first-touchdown contract only pays on one play, the first score, whenever it comes. The first drive of a game is scripted, and the play at the goal line on a scripted drive goes to a back more often than a receiver, so the market shades backs up on this contract and receivers down. Kyren Williams at 1.01 cents per point is the market saying his projection undersells his goal-line share; Nacua at 0.47 is the market saying his 21.2 points arrive in 12-yard pieces between the twenties.

The last column is where the two views can be checked against each other. First touchdown as a share of anytime is the market's own estimate of how much of a player's scoring lives on the early drives. The backs and Kittle sit at 27 percent. Nacua is at 25, close to the backs. Corum, Evans, Deebo Samuel and Adams sit at 20 or 21, which reads as the market pushing their touchdowns into the second half: Corum's to the carries a timeshare gives him late, per The Athletic's Nate Atkins, relayed on ESPN's injury page, Adams's to a game plan that has not used him in a live snap since last season, since he did not take a preseason snap.

The exchange's real disagreement with the Sims is narrower than McCaffrey over Nacua. Nacua, the only receiver the market treats like a first-drive player, still costs a third less than the two backs per projected point. A receiver with the Sims' top projection, priced at 25 percent of his anytime number like a back, is the cheapest first-drive projection on the board.

Anytime Touchdown: Where The Sims And The Exchange Agree

Kalshi's anytime contract, one or more touchdowns, bid / ask in cents, against the Sims projection. Cents per point divides the anytime ask by the projection.

The anytime board says the same thing, less sharply. The backs cost 2.7 to 3.9 cents per projected point, the receivers 1.9 to 3.0, and Nacua is again the cheapest projection on the field at 1.89. The exchange sells his anytime contract at 40 cents, $41.69 per $100 of payout with the fee, under the $43.48 DraftKings wants and within 90 cents of the best sportsbook price on our screen. Kittle's anytime quote, 5 bid and 22 ask, is a 17-cent spread, which says the market does not know how many snaps he will play.

Signal Vs. Noise: What The Sims Can And Cannot Tell You About The First Touchdown

Signal means it should change how you price this market. Noise means it looks like information and is not. Watch means real, but unresolved until the inactives or the coin toss.

The 10:35 A.M. Kickoff And The Rams' 24-Hour Trip

The 49ers landed in Melbourne on September 4 after a 15-hour charter and have practiced there all week. The Rams planned to arrive about 24 hours before kickoff and stay on Pacific time, so their bodies read 5:35 p.m. when the ball goes up, per NFL.com. Nobody has data on what either plan does to a scripted opening drive in front of 100,024 people. The one thing the schedule does settle is the Rams as the favorite: Kalshi's game market has them at 64 to 65 cents to win, a 3.5-point favorite on the sportsbooks with a 48.5 total, so the team the market expects to score about 26 points gets the extra trip inside the 10.

George Kittle and Nick Bosa came off the 49ers' injury report and will play, though neither is expected to carry a full snap count in his first game back from an Achilles and an ACL, per ESPN. A tight end on a managed snap count is a worse first-drive contract than his 27 percent ratio suggests, and Kittle has traded 661 contracts all week, the least-traded starter on the board.

Here is where the Sims leave me, writing at 5 a.m. ET. The market's ordering, two backs and then Nacua, is a reasonable reading of how first drives end, and I would not sell McCaffrey to buy anything. But the exchange is charging half again as much for the back's first touchdown as for the receiver's, on a lower projection, for a receiver it already prices like a first-drive player, on the favored team, in a game where the other team's starting tight end is on a snap count. If I am buying one first-touchdown contract tonight on what the Sims say, it is Nacua at the ask, $10.64 per $100 of payout with the fee, knowing a contract at that price loses nine times in ten by its own arithmetic. Corum at 7 cents is the second name, for a different reason, and that argument is on the OddsShopper first-touchdown board, where the exchange is cheaper than every sportsbook on him. Re-run both against the inactives about 90 minutes before kickoff; they are the last thing that changes these numbers before the game does.
