Chargers vs Bills Prediction: The Leak Doesn't Matter
By Jake Hari
September 25, 2026

Prices as of Friday, September 25, 2026, 6:58 a.m. ET. Kalshi prices, before fees.
Buffalo is 2-0 and has given up 62 points, more than any other unbeaten team. Houston scored 31 on the Bills. Detroit scored 31 on the Bills. If you want a reason to take the Chargers and the points on Sunday, that is the reason, and it is a real one.
The Chargers are 0-2 with a minus-24 point differential, and both losses came at home, 26-14 to Arizona and 26-14 to Las Vegas. Fourteen points, twice, in their own building. Sunday is their first game away from SoFi, and it comes in Buffalo, where the Bills just put 41 on the Lions.
So the argument is a defense that lets everyone score against an offense that has not scored. The market has settled it at Bills by a touchdown. My call is at the bottom. First, pick the game you see.

Pick the game you think we get. You'll see the price the market puts on it, what has to happen, and the cleanest way to bet it. My pick is at the bottom.
Script: Bills cover · Buffalo wins by 8 or more
48% market chance · Bills by 8 or more costs 48¢. Bills by 7 or more is 56¢; the 8 cents between the rungs is the 7-point win.
What has to happen
- Buffalo scores like it has. It has not scored fewer than 36.
- The Chargers stay at 14. Both home games ended there.
- Herbert keeps giving it away. The Chargers have 5 giveaways already.
How to bet it
| Contract | Price | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best | Bills by 8 or more | 48¢ | The sportsbook cover at a Kalshi price, and it is under a coin flip. |
| Also | Bills by 7 or more | 56¢ | Eight cents dearer, and a 7-point Bills win cashes instead of losing. |
| Skip | Bills to win | 76¢ | Seventy-six cents to win 24. A cover script deserves the cover price. |
My readThe Chargers have not reached 15 and the Bills have not scored fewer than 36. Hold that thought.
Script: Bills roll · Buffalo wins by 14 or more
34% market chance · Bills by 14 or more costs 34¢. Bills by 17 or more is 27¢, by 21 or more 19¢.
What has to happen
- The first road trip goes the way the two home games went, and Buffalo has had ten days off since the Thursday night win over Detroit.
- The turnovers keep coming. Herbert put the ball on the ground three times against the Raiders on top of two interceptions.
- James Cook runs like he did on Thursday: 21 carries for 135 yards and a touchdown.
How to bet it
| Contract | Price | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best | Bills by 14 or more | 34¢ | The blowout at a third of a dollar. If the Chargers keep handing it over, this is the rung that collects. |
| Also | Bills over 31.5 points | 38¢ | Buffalo scored 36 and 41. If your blowout is really a Bills-offense call, bet the Bills' points and let the Chargers score. |
| Skip | Bills by 21 or more | 19¢ | Three scores of margin needs Buffalo's defense to do something it has not done yet: hold a team down. |
My readThe blowout is live because the Chargers cannot hold onto the ball, but Buffalo's defense keeps everyone in the game.
Script: Chargers cover · Los Angeles wins or loses by 6 or fewer
45% market chance · No on Bills by 7 or more costs 45¢. No on Bills by 8 or more is 53¢ and adds the 7-point loss.
What has to happen
- Buffalo's defense keeps leaking. It has allowed 62 points, the most of any unbeaten team.
- Omarion Hampton does to Buffalo what he did to Las Vegas: 23 carries, 94 yards and a touchdown.
- Herbert stops giving it away. Five giveaways is the difference between 14 points and 24.
How to bet it
| Contract | Price | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best | No on Bills by 7 or more | 45¢ | The side the Bills' defense argues for, at the sportsbook number. |
| Also | No on Bills by 8 or more | 53¢ | Eight cents dearer, and a 7-point loss cashes instead of losing. |
| Skip | Chargers to win | 25¢ | A close-game case does not need the Chargers to finish it. Take the points. |
My readThe case is Buffalo's defense, and it is real. The problem is that the Chargers have only shown 14 at home, and Buffalo will not be easier.
Script: Chargers shock · Los Angeles wins outright
25% market chance · Chargers to win costs 25¢. Chargers by 4 or more is 17¢.
What has to happen
- Herbert has his first big day of the season. He has not thrown for 210 yards yet; 250 or more trades at 37¢.
- The turnover column flips. Buffalo has zero giveaways and only 2 takeaways, so the Chargers have to take the ball from a team that has not been handing it over.
- Buffalo's defense leaks for a third week and the Chargers finally have an offense that collects.
How to bet it
| Contract | Price | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best | Chargers to win | 25¢ | Three to one before fees, and the cleanest way to say the Bills' defense finally costs them a game. |
| Also | No on Bills by 4 or more | 37¢ | Cashes on every Chargers win and a Bills win by a field goal or less. |
| Skip | Chargers by 4 or more | 17¢ | A 14-point offense winning comfortably on the road is the last thing the first two weeks suggested. |
My readI do not see it. An offense averaging 14 needs turnovers to win a game like this, and Buffalo has not given the ball away once.
Script: Shootout · The teams combine for 54 or more
41% market chance · Over 53.5 costs 41¢. Over 50.5 is 48¢, the closest rung to a coin flip.
What has to happen
- Buffalo's games keep landing where they have: 67 total points at Houston, 72 against Detroit.
- The Chargers get to 21. Chargers over 20.5 trades at 51¢, and they have not reached 15.
- Herbert throws 40 times chasing the game. Herbert 250 or more passing yards is 37¢.
How to bet it
| Contract | Price | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best | Over 53.5 | 41¢ | Both Bills games cleared this number with room to spare. |
| Also | Herbert 250+ passing yards | 37¢ | If your shootout is the Chargers chasing, this pays on the chase even when the total falls short. |
| Skip | Over 59.5 | 25¢ | Needs the Chargers in the high 20s, and they have not scored 15. |
My readBoth Bills games cleared this number, but the Chargers are the half of the shootout that has not shown up. Bills over 28.5 points at 52¢ is the version that fits what I have seen.
Script: Allen runs it in · Josh Allen scores a touchdown
55% market chance · Allen to score costs 55¢, any touchdown he scores himself. Allen to score twice is 17¢.
What has to happen
- Allen keeps the goal-line job. He has 4 rushing touchdowns in 2 games, 2 at Houston and 2 against Detroit.
- Buffalo keeps getting to the red zone. The Bills have scored on every trip so far.
- The Chargers' front is thin: Dalvin Tomlinson is doubtful with a hamstring and Tuli Tuipulotu is questionable.
How to bet it
| Contract | Price | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best | Josh Allen to score | 55¢ | Four rushing scores in two games, priced as a coin flip. |
| Also | Allen 40+ rushing yards | 40¢ | If your script is Allen's legs, this pays on the yards even when Cook gets the score. |
| Skip | Allen first touchdown | 15¢ | You are guessing the order, not the outcome. |
My readFour rushing touchdowns in two games is Buffalo's goal-line plan, not luck, and the price still says coin flip.
Why Buffalo Is Laying A Touchdown
A touchdown is a lot to lay on a team that has given up 62 points. The number says the Chargers' offense is the bigger problem.
Chargers: Fourteen Points, Twice
The Offense Has Not Shown Up
Two home games, 14 points in each, five giveaways. Herbert has not reached 210 yards.
Hampton Is The Only Thing Working
Omarion Hampton carried 23 times for 94 yards and a touchdown against the Raiders, and he is why the Chargers rank eighth in rushing touchdowns. The passing game is short on targets: David Njoku is on injured reserve, Charlie Kolar is out, and Oronde Gadsden is the only healthy tight end. Up front, Dalvin Tomlinson is doubtful and Tuli Tuipulotu is questionable.
Lean: the Chargers' side of this is Hampton and the Bills' defense. That is a points argument, not a moneyline one.
Bills: The Offense Nobody Has Slowed
Allen Is Scoring It Himself
Josh Allen has 5 touchdown passes, no interceptions and 4 rushing scores. James Cook just ran for 135 yards on Detroit. Buffalo leads the league at 38.5 points a game and has not given the ball away once.
The Defense Lets Everyone Back In
The 62 points allowed are the most of any unbeaten team. The pass rush is the part that works, 7 sacks against a quarterback who has taken 6 already. Ed Oliver is questionable on the line, and two receivers, DJ Moore and Keon Coleman, are questionable too.
Lean: Buffalo by more than a touchdown, because the team that keeps the Bills' defense honest has to score, and this one has not.
My Take
The reason to back the Chargers is the Bills' defense, and I will grant it: no unbeaten team has given up more. But Houston and Detroit each brought an offense. The Chargers scored 14 on the Cardinals and 14 on the Raiders in their own building, turned it over five times, and Herbert has not reached 210 yards. Now they fly to Buffalo for their first road game against a team that scored 36 and 41 and has not given the ball away once.
I will pay 48 cents for the 7.5 rung rather than 56 for 6.5. The 8-cent difference is the 7-point Bills win, and I do not see this as a one-score game late. Buffalo scores in the 30s, the Chargers get their 14 and a garbage-time drive, and the margin lands past a touchdown.
