Fantasy RB1 Odds 2026: Gibbs Leads, Bijan Is The Value

The Quick Answer

Kalshi's 2026-27 fantasy RB1 board makes Jahmyr Gibbs the clear favorite at 29¢, with Christian McCaffrey and Ashton Jeanty tied behind him at 16¢ and Bijan Robinson at 14¢. Our eight-model AI panel, which never sees the prices, agrees Gibbs is the top name but caps him at just 17%: with 20-plus live backs and no repeat RB1 winner in recent memory, even the defending champion is an underdog to the field. The panel's sharpest splits from the market: it rates Bijan Robinson above his 14¢ price, and it fades the market's enthusiasm for Ashton Jeanty at 16¢. Prices as of Aug 17, 2026. This is a thin, episodically-traded board: right now there are no live resting quotes on any contract, so every price below is the last trade printed on that market, not a live bid/ask. Treat the cents as indicative with a wide spread. The page re-scores when the market moves or the depth chart changes, and the "as of" stamp carries the evidence.

The Board

The 2026-27 crown settles on ESPN's PPR (points-per-reception) running back rankings for the full regular season. One contract per back; only one can win. "Panel" is the median of our price-blind model estimates after a revision round.

The 21 YES contracts on this board sum to about 136¢, not 100¢. That gap is the exchange's spread across a wide field plus the unpriced "field" outcome, so read each cent count as a slightly high estimate of true win probability, not a clean percentage.

Every Seat's Number

Four of the panel's eight model seats scored this board on this run. Each saw the same fetched context card (2025 results, 2026 expert consensus, RB1 history) and none saw the prices. Numbers are the round-two, post-revision estimates.

Every seat on this panel is graded against real market settlements — records to date: Claude Opus 85% on 578 graded calls · Claude Sonnet 84% on 556 graded calls · GLM 81% on 2,367 graded calls · DeepSeek 80% on 2,392 graded calls. Recomputed daily; the full graded scoreboard is public.

Market Card

• What It Settles On: the single back who finishes as the #1 scoring RB on ESPN Fantasy Football PPR rankings for the entire 2026-27 regular season. Postseason is excluded. If backs tie for #1, the $1 splits proportionally among the tied contracts.
• When: expected settlement around Feb 1, 2027, after Week 18.
• Availability: Kalshi event contracts, CFTC-regulated, for users 18 and older where offered.
• Liquidity Honesty: the orderbook is empty across the field right now, so the prices are last-trade marks on a thin market. Volume has concentrated on Jeanty, the most-traded contract on the board; the deep longshots have traded only a handful of times.

The Setup: The Favorite Is Still An Underdog

Jahmyr Gibbs is the cleanest story on the board. He was the 2025 fantasy RB1, posting 366.9 PPR points on 1,223 rushing yards, 13 rushing touchdowns and 77 catches, and with David Montgomery no longer in Detroit, the expert consensus now puts him at RB1 overall for 2026. The market rewards all of that with a board-high 29¢.

The panel does not argue with the ranking. It argues with the price. The number every model kept returning to is history: in the last six seasons the overall fantasy RB1 has been a different back every year (Christian McCaffrey in 2019 and again in 2023, Jonathan Taylor in 2021, Austin Ekeler in 2022, Saquon Barkley in 2024, Gibbs in 2025), and none has repeated in consecutive years. Gibbs is trying to become the first back-to-back RB1 of that stretch, and he is doing it against 20-plus live contenders where only one contract can pay. That single-winner math is why all four seats capped him near 17% even while calling him the best back on the board. As Sonnet put it, "zero repeat-RB1s since 2019 caps both under 20%."

The stalest thing about this board is what happened to Jonathan Taylor. Three weeks ago the market treated him as a co-favorite; today he trades at 6¢. There is no injury behind the drop. Taylor is healthy, just signed a two-year, $44 million extension, and still sits at RB4 in the fetched consensus. What changed was the board itself: early, thin trading had him propped up, and as real volume arrived the money flowed to Jeanty and McCaffrey instead. The panel, reasoning from the depth chart rather than the price history of recent trades, actually lands above his current price at 7.2%.

Where The Panel And The Market Disagree

Strip out the board's overround and three real gaps remain.

Bijan Robinson is the panel's value. He is the one top contender the models rate at or above his price: 15.0% panel against a 14¢ market. Every seat sees the same profile, an every-down bell cow in an improving Atlanta offense with the rushing and receiving volume that wins PPR crowns. If you think one number on this board is a touch cheap, the panel says it is this one.

Ashton Jeanty is the panel's clearest fade. He is the most-traded contract on the board and the market prices him like a top-three back at 16¢. The panel prices him like the RB8 the consensus says he is, at 5.0%. The gap is real: the market is paying roughly three times the panel's number for a second-year back whose ceiling is a projection, not yet a result.

McCaffrey, Cook and Chase Brown all look rich to the panel. McCaffrey (16¢ vs 8.7%) carries a real age and durability discount at this point in his career. James Cook (12¢ vs 5.8%) and Chase Brown (9¢ vs 2.4%) are quality backs the market has bid past the panel's read of their ceilings.

Dark Horses The Panel Won't Dismiss

The card told every model the same uncomfortable truth: the RB1 crown routinely goes to a back who was not the preseason favorite, so the "field" is a real outcome, not a formality. DeepSeek made it the point of its verdict: "since 2010, the RB1 often emerges from off-radar backs due to injuries or breakout roles."

• The Field (7.2%). Some back not named on this 21-man board can still finish #1. History says that is normal, not a fluke.
• Jonathan Taylor (7.2%, Market 6¢) And De'Von Achane (6.7%, Market 7¢). The two spots where the panel and market roughly agree the value is fair. Achane's appeal is pure PPR: a Miami pass-catcher who can spike into the 90-reception range that wins these crowns.
• Jeremiyah Love (2.9%, Market 1¢). A rookie priced at a penny whom the consensus already ranks RB7. The panel gives him nearly three times the market's number as the highest-ceiling longshot on the board, and he is the favorite on our top fantasy rookie board.
• Derrick Henry (3.0%, Market 2¢). Proven volume the market has nearly written off.

Where The Panel Changed Its Mind

After round one, every model read the others' anonymized reasoning and could revise. The clearest move belonged to Opus, which raised Christian McCaffrey from about 7% to 10% after re-weighting "the highest talent ceiling and pass-catching profile that historically wins PPR crowns," calling his age a "real discount not a disqualifier." — Opus

The seat that held was Sonnet, which kept Gibbs and Robinson essentially flat across both rounds. Its reason never moved: with "20-plus live contenders and zero repeat-RB1s since 2019," no back on this board earns a number that looks like a lock, so there was nothing in the peer reasoning to talk it off its top two. — Sonnet

What Would Change The Panel's Mind

Every trigger below is event-shaped, so you can check it yourself as the season unfolds.

• A Preseason Or Early-Season Injury To Gibbs Or Robinson. This is the single biggest mover on the board; it would redistribute the two favorites' mass straight to the next tier and lift the field.
• A Backfield Clearing Out. If a contender's committee-mate is traded or lost (the way Montgomery's exit lifted Gibbs), that back's number should climb toward the top two.
• Jeanty Proving The Ceiling On The Field. A hot September that turns his projected upside into actual production would justify the market's 16¢ and force the panel up off 5%.
• A Quarterback Situation Resolving. Taylor's ceiling in Indianapolis leans on his offense; the panel would move him if the passing game stabilizes his volume and touchdown share.

The Bottom Line

The market and the panel agree on the shape of this board: Jahmyr Gibbs on top, a cluster of talented backs behind him, and a wide-open field. They part on a few names. The market pays a premium for Gibbs at 29¢ and for Ashton Jeanty at 16¢; the panel says both are rich, caps the defending champ near 17% on the weight of history, and points instead at Bijan Robinson as the one top contender priced at or below what he is worth. Those are the splits that matter. Only one of these 21 backs can wear the crown, and if the last six seasons are any guide, it will not be the name you most expect. We grade every one of these calls in public when the market settles.
