Patriots Vs Seahawks Showdown DFS: The Quarterback The Market Keeps

The NFL season opens Wednesday, September 9, at Lumen Field with a rematch of Super Bowl LX, which Seattle won 29-13 over New England in February, and the DraftKings Showdown slate for Patriots at Seahawks is posted. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the most expensive player on it at $10,600, Sam Darnold is $9,400, and the champions' side of the game is where I expect most of the field to start building. Kalshi's player-prop board on the same game tells the same story: the busiest contracts are Seattle scorers.

Nine AI models priced every one of those contracts without seeing a Kalshi number, and on the crowd's favorite lines they landed within a few cents of the market. They refuse to agree in two places, a Seattle tight end's touchdown market and, by a much wider margin, the visiting quarterback's passing-yards ladder, and the second disagreement decides who I captain.

Why A Prop Board Is A Showdown Ownership Map

A player-prop market on an exchange is a crowd voting with small tickets, and this vote is lopsided. As of September 3, 2026, at 7:26 AM ET, the busiest player contract on the Patriots-Seahawks board is Jadarian Price to score two or more touchdowns, at 9.5¢ with 8,392 contracts traded and 8,392 currently open. Smith-Njigba to score twice is 8.5¢ on 6,367 contracts, AJ Barner has about 12,000 contracts across his two touchdown rungs, and New England's busiest line is A.J. Brown to score twice, at 5.5¢.

A showdown field has the same instinct, in a game the market calls close: Seattle to win by more than 3.5 points trades at 49.5¢, a favorite of about a field goal, and the total ladder crosses 50% between 43.5 and 44.5 points, which splits to roughly 24 for Seattle and 20 for New England. Nothing there says blowout, and a close game keeps both quarterbacks throwing into the fourth quarter.

The rookie back is the crowd's favorite ticket for a reason. Zach Charbonnet ($8,200) is OUT on DraftKings, on reserve/PUP since August 30 with the ACL he tore in January, so he misses at least four games and Price ($7,200) is the lead back, with George Holani ($4,200) and Emanuel Wilson ($4,000, Questionable, hamstring) behind him. Price's one-touchdown contract trades at 37.0¢, second on the board by price behind Smith-Njigba at 42.5¢ and ahead of Brown at 34.5¢. When Kalshi's crowd and the DraftKings salary ladder agree on the top of the scoring order, ownership follows, and the leverage has to come from somewhere the crowd is not looking. The Ladder Nine Models Refused To Price Like The Market

The models were handed every player's 2025 game log, both rosters, the injury report and six dated news items, and no prices. Drake Maye's passing yards is where they broke from the market, on every rung from 150 through 275 yards, converging again at the top of the ladder.

The 250-yard rung is the widest disagreement on the entire Week 1 player board, and the cleanest, because it has a real order book: 28 bid, 35 ask, more than 2,000 contracts traded. In payout terms a 31.5-cent contract turns $100 into about $317 before fees when it hits and nothing when it does not. The panel's case is Maye's 2025 log: he cleared 250 yards in 12 of 17 games, 13 of the 17 landed between 220 and 295 yards, and he never finished below 155. New England then traded a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth for A.J. Brown, who cleared 70 receiving yards in seven of his 15 Philadelphia games.

The market's case is everything a game log cannot hold: opening night on the road, a Seattle defense that produced 47 sacks and 18 interceptions last season, and a New England run game that averaged 128.9 yards a game and takes the ball out of its quarterback's hands with a lead. The market also marked this rung down overnight, from 33.0¢ when the panel ran to 31.5¢ this morning, widening the gap rather than closing it, and across the thousands of settled calls on our public graded ledger, the market has been right roughly two thirds of the time when the two have disagreed by ten cents or more. Every seat's argument, and the 49ers-Rams contracts, are on the full board.

The Board, Priced For A DraftKings Showdown Lineup

The long version cannot put a salary next to each contract. The DraftKings column is the FLEX price as posted September 2; the Captain slot costs 1.5 times that and scores 1.5 times the points (format guide).

The row I keep coming back to is Barner. His one-touchdown contract was quoted 7 to 21 cents a day ago; overnight buyers moved the bid to 15 and the midpoint to 18¢, and the panel still sits at 32%. At $4,600 he is the cheapest piece on this slate with a touchdown market the models like, and that salary is what fits a Maye captain under the cap.

A Worked Example: What The Maye Gap Does To The Captain Slot

If the panel is right about 250 yards, the captain slot on this slate is priced wrong. Smith-Njigba at $15,900 in the captain spot is the field's default because he is the most expensive player and the best receiver on the home side. Maye at $15,000 costs less, and his Kalshi ladder says the crowd expects a modest passing night. Put the two ladders in DraftKings points, which pay 0.04 per passing yard. Summed rung by rung, the panel's ladder implies about 246 expected passing yards, roughly 9.8 points from yardage alone, against about 216 and 8.6 points for the market's; the captain slot multiplies the difference by 1.5, so the panel's read is worth close to two captain points before a single touchdown, and Maye's 25+ rushing-yard contract at 49.5¢ is a floor Smith-Njigba does not carry. Smith-Njigba's own ladder, 42.5¢ for one touchdown and 8.5¢ for two, implies about half a touchdown, roughly 3 points, at a $15,900 price. Those numbers are the play: a quarterback captain whose passing yards the market discounts, stacked with the receiver that first-round pick bought, via the captain and FLEX tool.

Stevenson is the New England back in that build because of the injury report. TreVeyon Henderson ($7,600) is Questionable on DraftKings with the right ankle he hurt on the practice turf on August 25; the beat expects him to be ready for the opener, but he had not been cleared for full practice as of September 1. Kalshi quotes Stevenson's anytime-touchdown market 2 bid, 36 ask (his first-touchdown contract is tight at 9 to 11), so nobody will price whether he scores at all, and a Maye captain needs the game to run through the Patriots for four quarters.

The three Seattle pieces are the bring-back, each a contract the crowd already likes: Price's one-touchdown market at 37.0¢, Barner's at 18.0¢, and Kupp's at 22.0¢ as the receiver who benefits from coverage rolled to Smith-Njigba. Ownership is the number I cannot show you yet. It posts with the NFL DFS projections, ownership and stacks in the DataHub as the slate fills in, and that column turns this lean into an exposure. If Henderson is a full participant on Friday, he takes the Stevenson slot at $7,600 with the rest of the build held and $800 unspent. If New England signals a full committee instead, that slot goes to Hunter Henry ($4,800), whose one-touchdown contract trades at 19.0¢, and the savings move Kupp up to Romeo Doubs ($6,600): a $47,800 lineup.

What Moves This Before Wednesday Night

Seattle's Friday injury report settles its backfield: Wilson out hands Price the goal line alone and firms up his 9.5¢ two-touchdown contract. Kayshon Boutte ($5,600) is already OUT for New England, which concentrates the Patriots' targets on Brown, Henry and Romeo Doubs ($6,600). Inactives land about 90 minutes before the 8:20 PM ET kickoff, and every seat's number is graded the next morning. The main-slate work lives in the NFL DFS hub.

Both crowds have priced a Seattle night: the most expensive captain on DraftKings, the busiest touchdown tickets on Kalshi, a home favorite of about a field goal. Nine models with no prices in front of them agreed with almost all of it, then put the road quarterback's passing ladder 20 to 30 points above the market from 200 through 275 yards. The ledger says gaps this size have gone the market's way about two thirds of the time, and a showdown captain does not need better odds than that: a low-owned captain only has to be right on the nights the chalk is wrong, in a lineup that costs the same $50,000 as the crowd's. Wednesday grades the argument in public.
