Davante Adams is my Captain for Rams at Broncos, the Week 3 Sunday night game on September 27 at 8:20 p.m. ET, and this DraftKings NFL Showdown cheat sheet makes the case. He leads Captain Exposures in the Stokastic Sims at 23.3%, 6.6 percentage points clear of Bo Nix.
The Quick Answer
Captain Adams at $15,300 with Nix, Matthew Stafford, Kyren Williams, Terrance Ferguson and Adam Trautman under him is the chalk build; the tournament build swaps Stafford and Trautman for Harrison Mevis and the Broncos defense. Puka Nacua is listed doubtful and projected at zero; if he is active when the inactives post, the Adams case weakens.

Ferguson's row is the one I keep coming back to: fifth in ownership at 43.5% and missing from the top five Flex Exposures, where the last spot is Williams at 42.0%, so the field is heavier on him than the Sims are. I keep him at $3,800 but stay under the field. Mevis, the Rams kicker, is the opposite case: fourth in Flex Exposures at 46.0% against 32.30% leverage, so the field is under 14% on him.
Why The Sims Land On Adams
With Nacua doubtful and projected at zero, the Rams' targets run through Adams. He and Nix are a tenth apart in projection and within $100 as a Captain-plus-FLEX pairing, so the Captain panel decides it, 23.3% to 16.7%. Against our ownership projection, the field is 4.00 points light on Adams at Captain and 3.80 light on Nix in the FLEX.
Worked Example: Adams To $48,700
- Adams at Captain costs $15,300, his $10,200 at 1.5x, the same multiplier his points get.
- Nix ($10,000), Stafford ($10,400) and Williams ($8,600) in the FLEX, running total $44,300.
- Ferguson ($3,800) and Trautman ($600). Final: $48,700.
That chalk build, the five most-owned names plus Trautman, leaves $1,300 and no room for Mevis ($4,600). The tournament build drops Stafford and Trautman for Mevis and the Broncos defense ($3,400, 9.60% leverage): $45,700. It bets on Denver's defense holding Rams drives to field goals, so the Rams kicker and Broncos defense score together, with Adams carrying the yardage and Nix as the bring-back. The $4,300 left covers Jaylen Waddle ($9,600, 13.9 projected) over Williams.
