PGA DFS Picks: Top Values for the RBC Heritage (2024)

The Masters is officially in the books and as always it was a week full of storylines and drama. In turn, we move our PGA DFS picks series to, you guessed it, making our RBC Heritage DFS picks, showcasing top values and more.

Although World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler did his best to tone down the drama pulling away late at The Masters, it still made for an incredible tournament and sets the stage for plenty of questions as we start the clock moving toward the US Open. In the meantime, we set our eyes on RBC Heritage, which is no throwaway tournament when you look at the field.

This elevated event brings a ton of the world’s best to Harbour Town on the quick turnaround after Augusta. From a PGA DFS perspective we get a non-cut which means a lot of different options when building lineups.

PGA DFS Picks: Top Values for the RBC Heritage (2024)

PGA DFS: RBC Heritage DFS Picks and Tournament Preview

Harbour Town needs no introduction, as it’s a staple of the PGA Tour. If you were to chart out courses from bombers paradise to technical layouts this would be on the extreme side of technical layout, as it’s one of the more challenging venues all season. The course measures out around 7,200 yards, but this Pete Dye layout absolutely will test the best players in the world.

You need to be precise with your irons. No matter how aggressive you are off the tee there isn’t really a way to overpower this layout. Keeping it on these thin fairways and out of the woods is priority one, although this will test every club in the bag. Overall, this is one of the more unique courses players face and it brings in a lot of different types of golfers who can succeed.

In terms of the field, it somewhat resembles a major minus the LIV players that we saw last week. Scottie Scheffler and his second green jacket lead us off, followed by Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy, and Ludvig Aberg at the top of the pricing range. This field is only 69 players, so we don’t have a ton of pivots and options at various price points. Let’s dive into some of the value plays that grade out well and allow you to spend salary elsewhere in your lineups.

PGA DFS Picks: Top Values

Sungjae Im

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $7,300
FanDuel:
$8,800

I want to state right up front that this is not for the faint of heart as Sungjae Im carries immense risk given his recent form. I actually got to him in some lineups last week at Augusta and he was unable to hold it together on Friday; missing the cut on the number. It’s just another disappointing data point for the South Korean who has so much talent and promise. The season is far from over, and quality golf is in his possession, which could be unlocked at this layout.

If we are looking for positives, Im likes this layout with a seventh last week to go with a 21st and 13th over his last three trips to Harbour Town. More important than the results is the fact that what this course demands fits his overall game and keeping it on these tight fairways will be key.

Clearly, Im isn’t at the height of his powers, but even during this downslide the off-tee numbers have remained mostly stable and that is a huge asset here. Seeing Im at $7,300 isn’t shocking given his poor run up heading in, but it still caught my attention as it’s a ton of talent for a player at this price range. I’m going to roll the dice that the top end form still exists and bank that we don’t see low-$7,000 price tags on Im for a long while.

Emiliano Grillo

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,900
FanDuel:
$8,100

Last week wasn’t the time for Grillo, as he wasn’t even close to making the cut at The Masters. The Argentinian couldn’t get any footing on those difficult conditions, and it was a week to forget. However, it’s two bad rounds of golf and now Grillo gets to a course he is much more suited for given his abilities with the irons. He was runner up at Heritage in 2021 and backed that up with another top-10 result last year.

Price wise this is a small field, so we have limited options when we dip below $7,000 on DraftKings. Grillo certainly fits a lot of different builds. He doesn’t rely on distance and has already proven he can handle the tree lined nature that Harbour Town demands. If he can shake off what was a disappointing trip to Augusta, he makes for a great pay-down option and one that fits a lot of different lineup constructions.

Adam Svensson

DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,400
FanDuel:
$7,500

If we really need some salary relief, we might have to look towards the bottom of the $6,000 range where there aren’t a ton of options. Without the $5,000 price points it makes finding value here even more important and one guy stood out to me in Adam Svensson. The Canadian unfortunately wasn’t at The Masters last week, but getting a chance to recharge and hopefully tighten up the game would pay major dividends here. It hasn’t been a perfect 2024 for Svensson, but there are still a lot of positive signs and some that lead me to click him into lineups this week.

Looking at recent form, we see middling results of 49th, 57th, and 51st over the last three events, but the ball striking numbers tell a different story. Svensson has gained two-plus strokes on the approach in all three and over four strokes in the last two events. The big issue is the putter which has been completely ice cold and bleeding strokes in all three of these events.

What we have here is the classic what will regress first the ball striking or the putting? Given the price point you aren’t going to find players with the ball striking numbers of Svensson in this price range, and I am willing to overlook the poor putting for a chance to access them this week.
