NFL Week 5 DFS Picks: Keep Gibbs, Lose The Arizona Side
By Jake Hari
October 7, 2026

Updated Tuesday, October 7, 2026; every projection and ownership number is the Stokastic Sims run published Monday, October 6 at 11:06 p.m. ET; salaries, lines and injury tags as of Tuesday morning. DraftKings has not posted the Week 5 Afternoon Only slate yet, so the third slate here is the Thu-Mon slate, 15 games from Thursday night through Monday night.
Week 5 on DraftKings has one game the whole field wants and one running back the whole field is right about. Detroit at Arizona carries the highest total on the Sunday board at 54.5 with the Lions laying 5.5, and the Sims have Jahmyr Gibbs at 27.7 points, 6.4 clear of the next back on the Main slate. He belongs in the lineup. The mistake is what the field does next: it buys the Arizona side of that game at prices the Sims will not pay, and it leaves the Bengals, the Bears and two 8%-owned quarterbacks at Dallas and Buffalo on the table.
The Quick Answer
- Main (13 games, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.): keep Gibbs at 57% and drop Jacoby Brissett, Trey McBride and Michael Wilson. Put the freed salary on Chase Brown and a Bengals stack at Miami with Joe Burrow at 4%.
- Early Only (10 games, 1 p.m.): Jaylen Warren and Jonathan Taylor are both half the field and both belong. The slate is won at quarterback and in Chicago, where Tyson Bagent is 2% owned and D'Andre Swift is 6%.
- Thu-Mon (15 games): Dak Prescott at 8% is the quarterback on this slate. Matthew Stafford is 21% owned at Monday night's 54.5 total, and the Sims put him in 13% of optimal lineups. Dak projects 0.6 points behind him and the Cowboys lay 8.5 at home.

Main: Keep Gibbs, Lose The Arizona Side
The Main slate's ownership is a pile, and the pile is one game. Gibbs is 56.6% owned, Amon-Ra St. Brown 28.2%, Trey McBride 30.6%, Michael Wilson 21.7%, Jacoby Brissett 19.2%. Add Jared Goff at 13.6% and Detroit at Arizona is carrying 170% of the slate's ownership on its own. The Sims say the Lions half of that is fine and the Cardinals half is where the field is wrong.
| Player | Team | Position | Salary | Sims Projection | Sims Ownership |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jahmyr Gibbs | DET | RB | $9,800 | 27.7 | 56.6% |
| Jaylen Warren | PIT | RB | $6,700 | 21.1 | 45.5% |
| Trey McBride | ARI | TE | $6,700 | 19.0 | 30.6% |
| Amon-Ra St. Brown | DET | WR | $7,900 | 20.5 | 28.2% |
| Mitch Tinsley | CIN | WR | $3,300 | 12.6 | 27.2% |
| Jacoby Brissett | ARI | QB | $5,500 | 18.7 | 19.2% |
| Chase Brown | CIN | RB | $6,900 | 18.8 | 14.7% |
| Jared Goff | DET | QB | $6,600 | 20.9 | 13.6% |
| Joe Burrow | CIN | QB | $6,900 | 17.5 | 4.0% |
| Jordan Addison | MIN | WR | $5,800 | 13.8 | 4.5% |
Gibbs is the chalk that belongs. The Sims put him in 52.5% of optimal lineups against 56.6% projected ownership, which is as close to fair as a 57% player gets. At $9,800 he returns 2.83 points per $1,000, and nobody above $8,000 on the slate is within 0.4 of that rate. You pay him and win the lineup elsewhere.
Elsewhere starts with the Cardinals. Brissett is the slate's most overowned player by the Sims' own measure: 19.2% projected ownership against 11.9% of optimal lineups. At $5,500 he is cheap, and cheap is the whole reason the field is there; Detroit is favored by 5.5, so the field is betting on Arizona throwing from behind. The Sims agree he throws and still do not want him at that price, because 18.7 points at 19% ownership is a worse bet than Goff's 20.9 at 13.6% in the same game, and Goff costs $1,100 more. McBride at 30.6% owned and 26.0% optimal and Wilson at 21.7% and 20.5% are the same story in smaller print.
The salary you free by dropping the Arizona side goes to Cincinnati. Chase Brown is the one back on the slate the Sims want more than the field does: 14.7% owned, 22.1% of optimal lineups, 18.8 points at $6,900 against a Miami defense the Bengals are favored to beat by 7. The gap between those two numbers, 7.4 points of ownership, is the widest on the slate for any player above $6,000. Joe Burrow at 4.0% owned is the other half of the argument. He projects 17.5, which is seventh among quarterbacks, and the five quarterbacks projected ahead of him are owned 13.6%, 19.2%, 2.5%, 6.2% and 5.7%. The field is treating a 7-point favorite's quarterback like a punt.
The stack: Burrow, Chase Brown, Mitch Tinsley. Tinsley at $3,300 is 27.2% owned and the Sims put him in 22.8% of optimal lineups, so he is slightly overowned and still correct, because 12.6 points at that price is 3.82 points per $1,000 and nothing else on the slate reaches 3.5. Dohnte Meyers at $3,500 is the quieter version: 17.4% owned, 20.0% optimal, 12.3 points. Either Bengals receiver works; the point of the stack is Burrow at 4%.
Where the field over-clusters. Jaylen Warren is the second chalk piece at 45.5%, and he is fine: 42.1% of optimal lineups, 3.16 points per $1,000, the best rate of any back above $6,000. Warren and Gibbs together is the Sims' own top shape, and roughly a quarter of the field will have both. The clusters that lose are smaller. Garrett Wilson is 19.7% owned and 12.6% optimal at $6,600 in a 39.5-total game. Mitch Tinsley at 27.2% is a cluster you join on purpose. Brissett is the one you leave.
Leverage below the fold. Jordan Addison at $5,800 is 4.5% owned and in 9.0% of optimal lineups, 13.8 points at Minnesota's 42.5 total against New Orleans with the Vikings laying 1.5. Nico Collins at $7,500 is 12.7% owned and 16.0% optimal; Houston is laying 7.5 at Tennessee in a 37.5-total game, so he is the one receiver in a low-total game the Sims still pay. Tyson Bagent at $4,700 is 1.0% owned and 5.7% optimal, and the Bears are 3-point road favorites at Green Bay with Caleb Williams listed Out on the ESPN roster.
Main: Salary Relief Under $5,000
The under-$5,000 tier on the Main slate is three Bengals and Dolphins receivers and then a drop. Tinsley $3,300 and Meyers $3,500 are covered above. Malik Washington at $4,600 projects 12.3 for Miami at 10.9% owned, and the bring-back case is real because Miami is a 7-point home dog with a 42.5 total. Tre' Harris at $4,100 is 12.4% owned and 13.2% optimal for the Chargers against Denver, 12.1 points. Luther Burden III at $4,900 is 7.4% owned and 9.1% optimal for Chicago, 12.3 points, and he is the receiver you attach to Bagent.
Isaiah Likely is the tight end relief at $4,300: 12.7 points, 14.1% owned, 12.0% optimal. Bo Nix at $5,600 projects 18.0 at 6.2% owned, Denver laying 3.5 at the Chargers, and he is the quarterback pivot if Burrow's salary does not fit.
Main: Where The Field Over-Clusters
Detroit at Arizona: 170% of the slate's ownership across six players. Cincinnati at Miami: Chase Brown 14.7%, Burrow 4.0%, Meyers 17.4%, Tinsley 27.2%, a game with a 7-point favorite that the field is playing only through the cheap receivers. Chicago at Green Bay: Bagent 1.0%, Swift 1.5%, Burden 7.4%, a 45.5-total game with the road team favored that the field has skipped entirely. The last two games are where the lineup gets different.
Main: One $50,000 Build
| Slot | Player | Team | Salary | Sims Ownership |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| QB | Joe Burrow | CIN | $6,900 | 4.0% |
| RB | Jahmyr Gibbs | DET | $9,800 | 56.6% |
| RB | Chase Brown | CIN | $6,900 | 14.7% |
| WR | Jaylen Waddle | DEN | $6,100 | 6.7% |
| WR | Jordan Addison | MIN | $5,800 | 4.5% |
| WR | Mitch Tinsley | CIN | $3,300 | 27.2% |
| TE | Isaiah Likely | NYG | $4,300 | 14.1% |
| FLEX | Tre' Harris | LAC | $4,100 | 12.4% |
| DST | Browns | CLE | $2,800 | 3.8% |
| Total | $50,000 |
Cumulative ownership is 144%, and 57 of those points are Gibbs. The Bengals stack is three players at $17,100. Waddle and Harris are the two sides of Denver at the Chargers, a 42.5 total with the Broncos laying 3.5, 6.7% and 12.4% owned. The Browns at $2,800 are 3.8% owned in a 39.5-total game at the Jets, the lowest total on the Sunday board. No Cardinal, no Steeler, no Colt.

Early: Two Backs And Then Chicago
The Early Only slate is ten 1 p.m. games with no Lions, no Cardinals and no Gibbs. The ownership moves to Pittsburgh-Indianapolis, where Jaylen Warren is 50.7% owned and Jonathan Taylor is 46.9%. The game is a 44.5 total with the Steelers laying 2.5, and the two backs on opposite sides of it are the two highest-projected players on the slate at 21.1 and 19.3. Both belong. Warren is 43.8% of optimal lineups, Taylor is 42.4%, and the Sims' top lineup shape on this slate has both.
| Player | Team | Position | Salary | Sims Projection | Sims Ownership |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jaylen Warren | PIT | RB | $6,700 | 21.1 | 50.7% |
| Jonathan Taylor | IND | RB | $7,800 | 19.3 | 46.9% |
| Nico Collins | HOU | WR | $7,500 | 17.3 | 39.2% |
| Garrett Wilson | NYJ | WR | $6,600 | 16.0 | 35.1% |
| Chase Brown | CIN | RB | $6,900 | 18.8 | 34.6% |
| Aaron Jones Sr. | MIN | RB | $6,500 | 18.7 | 33.0% |
| Chris Olave | NO | WR | $7,700 | 16.3 | 32.8% |
| Brock Bowers | LV | TE | $7,000 | 15.9 | 28.8% |
| Jordan Addison | MIN | WR | $5,800 | 13.8 | 12.6% |
| D'Andre Swift | CHI | RB | $6,200 | 13.7 | 6.2% |
| Tyson Bagent | CHI | QB | $4,700 | 15.9 | 1.7% |
The slate's problem is that the field is right about the backs and wrong about the receivers. Nico Collins at 39.2% owned and 33.5% optimal is the one high-owned player the Sims want less of, in a 37.5-total game. Garrett Wilson at 35.1% and 25.7% optimal is the biggest ownership gap on the slate in the wrong direction, 9.4 points, at a 39.5 total. Olave and Bowers are owned within 1.1 points of their optimal rates, fair. The receivers the Sims want more of are cheaper: Addison 12.6% owned and 16.3% optimal, Stefon Diggs 11.9% and 14.2%, Dohnte Meyers 10.4% and 13.6%.
Where the slate is actually won is quarterback. The highest-owned quarterback on the Early slate is Joe Burrow at 12.6%, and the Sims have him in 9.8% of optimal lineups. Every other quarterback is under 12%. Jayden Daniels projects 18.4 at $6,000, the highest number at the position, and is 7.5% owned against 10.6% optimal, with one catch: he is listed Questionable on the ESPN roster as of Tuesday, and Washington's receivers go with him. Drake Maye at $6,300 is 10.9% owned and 12.5% optimal, 18.0 points, with the Patriots laying 3.5 at home to the Raiders.
The stack: Bagent, Swift, Burden, with Tucker Kraft as the bring-back. Chicago is a 3-point road favorite at Green Bay in a 45.5-total game, the second-highest total on the Early slate, and the field is not there. Bagent is 1.7% owned at $4,700 and projects 15.9, within 2.5 points of Daniels at $1,300 less. Swift is 6.2% owned and 11.1% optimal at $6,200, the widest positive gap for any back on the slate. Burden at $4,900 is 8.9% owned and 11.2% optimal. Kraft at $4,700 is 11.7% owned and 10.4% optimal, and he is the Green Bay piece that pays if the Bears' side of the total is the one that hits. Four players, $20,500, 28.5% combined ownership on a 45.5-total game.
Early: Cheap Bengals And Cheap Tight Ends
The Early slate's under-$5,000 tier repeats the Main slate's Bengals answer at lower ownership: Tinsley $3,300 is 19.4% owned here, Meyers $3,500 is 10.4%. Luther Burden $4,900 at 8.9% is covered in the stack.
Tight end has the slate's two best rates. Isaiah Likely at $4,300 projects 12.7 at 13.6% owned, 2.95 points per $1,000, the best rate at the position. Hunter Henry at $3,700 projects 10.0 at 6.5% for the Patriots, 2.70 per $1,000, and he is the piece that lets a Warren-Taylor-Collins build fit under the cap.
Early: The Backs Are The Cluster
The Early slate clusters at running back and nowhere else. Warren 50.7%, Taylor 46.9%, Chase Brown 34.6%, Aaron Jones 33.0%: four backs at a third of the field or more, and the Sims want all four within 2 points of where the field has them. The cluster is correct. The lineup that beats it has the same backs and a different quarterback and flex.
Early: One $50,000 Build
| Slot | Player | Team | Salary | Sims Ownership |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| QB | Tyson Bagent | CHI | $4,700 | 1.7% |
| RB | Jaylen Warren | PIT | $6,700 | 50.7% |
| RB | Jonathan Taylor | IND | $7,800 | 46.9% |
| WR | Nico Collins | HOU | $7,500 | 39.2% |
| WR | Luther Burden III | CHI | $4,900 | 8.9% |
| WR | Jordan Addison | MIN | $5,800 | 12.6% |
| TE | Hunter Henry | NE | $3,700 | 6.5% |
| FLEX | D'Andre Swift | CHI | $6,200 | 6.2% |
| DST | Jets | NYJ | $2,700 | 7.5% |
| Total | $50,000 |
Cumulative ownership is 180%, and 137 of those points are the three chalk pieces the Sims agree with. The other six players are 43% combined. Collins is the one piece the Sims rate slightly below his ownership; he stays because 17.3 points at $7,500 is still the best receiver projection on the slate and the Texans are laying 7.5. Kraft is not in this build because the salary went to Collins; in a build without him, Kraft replaces Henry and Addison drops to Diggs.
Thu-Mon: Dak At Eight Percent
The Thu-Mon slate adds Thursday night (Buccaneers at Cowboys), Sunday night (Ravens at Falcons) and Monday night (Bills at Rams) to the Sunday games, 15 games in all. Spreading the same money across 15 games cuts every ownership number, and the ones that fall furthest are the ones that matter. Gibbs drops to 32.3% here. Warren drops to 30.1%. And quarterback opens up: Josh Allen is 7.8% owned with the highest projection at the position, 23.3, and Dak Prescott is 8.0% at 21.6.
| Player | Team | Position | Salary | Sims Projection | Sims Ownership |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jahmyr Gibbs | DET | RB | $9,800 | 27.7 | 32.3% |
| Jaylen Warren | PIT | RB | $6,700 | 21.1 | 30.1% |
| Puka Nacua | LAR | WR | $7,800 | 21.7 | 27.2% |
| Kyren Williams | LAR | RB | $6,400 | 18.3 | 23.1% |
| Bijan Robinson | ATL | RB | $8,700 | 23.9 | 21.6% |
| Matthew Stafford | LAR | QB | $6,000 | 22.2 | 20.5% |
| Trey McBride | ARI | TE | $6,700 | 19.0 | 18.9% |
| CeeDee Lamb | DAL | WR | $8,300 | 19.2 | 13.9% |
| Dak Prescott | DAL | QB | $6,700 | 21.6 | 8.0% |
| Josh Allen | BUF | QB | $7,400 | 23.3 | 7.8% |
| George Pickens | DAL | WR | $6,300 | 14.1 | 6.0% |
| Jalon Daniels | TB | QB | $4,700 | 16.8 | 2.5% |
The field's answer on this slate is Monday night. Bills at Rams is a 54.5 total, tied with Detroit-Arizona for the highest on the slate, and the field is playing the Rams side of it: Stafford 20.5% owned, Nacua 27.2%, Kyren Williams 23.1%. The Sims rate all three below their ownership. Stafford is in 13.0% of optimal lineups, 7.5 points under where the field has him, the widest gap at quarterback on any of the three slates. Nacua is 20.1% optimal, Williams 15.8%. The Sims see the same 54.5 total and want the other quarterback: Allen at 7.8% owned and 10.2% optimal, 1.1 points ahead of Stafford for $1,400 more.
The cleaner answer is Thursday. Dallas lays 8.5 at home to Tampa Bay in a 47.5 total, with Baker Mayfield listed Out on the ESPN roster and Jalon Daniels starting for the Buccaneers. Dak projects 21.6, the fourth-highest number at the position, and he is 8.0% owned against 10.2% optimal. The Thursday slot hides him: most of the field builds Thu-Mon lineups on Sunday morning, after the game is locked.
The stack: Dak, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens. Lamb at $8,300 is 13.9% owned and 12.7% optimal, 19.2 points. Pickens at $6,300 is 6.0% owned, 14.1 points, the second Cowboys receiver at a third of the price gap. Three Cowboys at $21,300 and 27.9% combined ownership on an 8.5-point home favorite. The bring-back is Jalon Daniels himself at $4,700 and 2.5% owned, 16.8 points, in a lineup that wants the Buccaneers throwing from behind; that is a second build, not this one.
The chalk that belongs. Gibbs at 32.3% owned is 29.0% optimal; he belongs on this slate as he does on the Main. Bijan Robinson at $8,700 projects 23.9, second among all players, at 21.6% owned and 21.3% optimal; the Falcons lay 3.5 at home to Baltimore on Sunday night. Warren at 30.1% owned and 20.8% optimal is the one back the Sims cool on here.
Thu-Mon: The Jaguars And The Bengals
The under-$5,000 tier on Thu-Mon is the same Bengals pair, Tinsley $3,300 at 21.5% and Meyers $3,500 at 14.3%, plus Tre' Harris $4,100 at 8.9%. Jakobi Meyers at $4,800 projects 10.3 at 2.9% owned for Jacksonville, which lays 7 at home to Philadelphia in a 42.5 total; the Jaguars defense at $3,200 projects 8.0 at 7.8% owned in the same game and is the DST the Sims rate highest on the slate with the Broncos. Trevor Lawrence at $5,900 projects 17.9 at 4.0% owned, a 7-point home favorite nobody is playing.
Thu-Mon: Monday Night Is The Cluster
The Thu-Mon slate clusters in one game and it is not Thursday. Stafford, Nacua and Kyren Williams are 70.8% combined ownership and 48.9% combined optimal. That is 22 points of ownership the Sims will not pay for, in one game, on a slate where the Cowboys stack is 27.9% combined and the Jaguars are a 7-point favorite at 4% quarterback ownership. The field is right about the 54.5 total and wrong about which side of it to buy.
Thu-Mon: One $50,000 Build
| Slot | Player | Team | Salary | Sims Ownership |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| QB | Dak Prescott | DAL | $6,700 | 8.0% |
| RB | Aaron Jones Sr. | MIN | $6,500 | 13.6% |
| RB | Chase Brown | CIN | $6,900 | 9.8% |
| WR | CeeDee Lamb | DAL | $8,300 | 13.9% |
| WR | George Pickens | DAL | $6,300 | 6.0% |
| WR | Tre' Harris | LAC | $4,100 | 8.9% |
| TE | Isaiah Likely | NYG | $4,300 | 11.3% |
| FLEX | Dohnte Meyers | CIN | $3,500 | 14.3% |
| DST | Texans | HOU | $3,400 | 4.1% |
| Total | $50,000 |
Cumulative ownership is 90%, and no player is above 14%. That is the Thu-Mon slate's gift: a lineup with the fourth-highest-projected quarterback, two backs the Sims want more of than the field, and a 7.5-point favorite's defense at 4.1% comes in at less than half the Main build's ownership with no Gibbs and no Monday night. Chase Brown at 9.8% owned and 12.3% optimal and Aaron Jones at 13.6% and 14.8% are the two backs.
What The Sims Say Now That The Data Is Live
Three slates, three different answers, one source. Every number above is the Stokastic NFL Sims run from Monday night, and ownership moves most between now and Sunday at quarterback, where the field settles late. The live projections, ownership and the top-lineup shapes are in the Sims, the game-by-game sim data sits in the NFL DataHub, and the Week 5 game pages price the same games against the Kalshi board. The three open questions: whether Brissett's ownership falls on the Main slate, whether Daniels is active for the Early, and whether anybody notices Dak before Thursday night.
One Game, Three Prices
The Bengals at Miami is the game that shows how slate choice changes a lineup. On the Main slate Chase Brown is 14.7% owned and Burrow is 4.0%, and the pair is the leverage. On the Early slate Brown is 34.6% and Burrow is 12.6%, the highest-owned quarterback on the slate, and the pair is chalk. On Thu-Mon Brown is 9.8% and Burrow is 2.1%, and the pair is nearly free. Same game, same line, same projections, three prices. Pick the slate where the game you like is cheapest, then build around it.
