1. Sean McDermott Drops In on the Rams

Former Bills head coach Sean McDermott spent Friday at Rams practice, using his time away from the sideline to study how a handful of organizations operate, with Los Angeles the first stop Adam Schefter reported (@AdamSchefter). Nate Atkins confirmed McDermott was on hand as a visitor at the Rams' session (@NateAtkins_). A coach of McDermott's pedigree touring contending operations is the kind of quiet camp subplot that tends to resurface when the coaching carousel spins in January.

2. Panthers Rookie WR Chris Brazzell Is Done for the Year

Carolina officially placed rookie WR Chris Brazzell on injured reserve, ending his season (@AdamSchefter). Dave Canales said the Panthers gathered more information on Brazzell's LCL injury before deciding on the season-ending surgery, calling it a matter of doing right by the rookie from Tennessee (@josephperson). Brazzell was still around the team Friday, getting around practice on a motorized scooter (@josephperson).

3. Drake Maye Throws a Perfect Day at Patriots Camp

Drake Maye went 11-for-11 in full-team drills and 7-of-8 in 7-on-7s on Day 6, and he is now 18-of-19 since the pads came on (@ByMarkDaniels). The headline connection was Maye to A.J. Brown: Brown beat Christian Gonzalez on a double move for the pair's best deep completion of camp (@ezlazar), added a one-handed touchdown grab in red-zone work that got a rise out of the crowd (@MikeReiss), and connected with Maye on all four targets by one count (@DougKyed). Maye said afterward that he and Brown watched film of Brown's past seasons together to learn the routes the receiver likes best (@tkyles39).

4. 49ers Add More Pass-Catching Help as the Pads Come On Swinging

San Francisco signed veteran TE Josiah Deguara and former Bengals WR Trenton Irwin to one-year deals, more reinforcements for a receiving corps that keeps needing them (@AdamSchefter). The first padded practice brought the fire: Dre Greenlaw shoved Christian McCaffrey to the ground after a catch, and McCaffrey shoved back before Greenlaw backed off (@LombardiHimself). A few plays later Fred Warner took exception to a Jake Tonges push-off and the ensuing scuffle became a team-wide dogpile (@LombardiHimself). McCaffrey held no grudge, saying Greenlaw has been his favorite player in the NFL for a long time "because of stuff like that" (@LombardiHimself).

5. Tucker Kraft Is Back on the Field Nine Months After His ACL Tear

Matt LaFleur announced Tucker Kraft was activated off PUP and would practice Friday (@mattschneidman), less than nine months after surgery on the torn ACL in his right knee. Kraft was limited to individual work and walkthroughs, with no team drills yet (@RobDemovsky), but the tight end says his surgeon has rarely seen a rehabilitation like his (@ByRyanWood). Kraft took a lap around Nitschke Field before practice to a big ovation (@WesHod) and summed up his mindset in one line: "I'm like a tricycle, I don't come with breaks" (@RobDemovsky).

Arizona Cardinals

• The guard battle between Bisontis and Adams headlined Friday's practice aftermath, along with a "Johnson v Johnson" dustup (@Cardschatter).

Indianapolis Colts

• Second-round LB CJ Allen was cleared off the PUP list (@RapSheet) and made his camp debut (@JakeArthurNFL).
• Arguably the play of camp: Anthony Richardson Sr. escaped pressure, stepped up and dropped a 50-yard touchdown in a bucket to Sahmir Hagans (@JakeArthurNFL).
• Owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon praised Daniel Jones' leadership, noting he was coming out of the QB room at 6 a.m. even while injured (@RomeovilleKid).

Jacksonville Jaguars

• Travis Hunter says he has added 10 pounds of muscle and feels lighter on his feet; he has been running 21-22.5 mph with a goal of 23, which would put him in Tyreek Hill territory (@Schultz_Report).

• Jalen Nailor got more involved in the offense and caught a touchdown from rookie Fernando Mendoza, who also hit Malik Benson on a nice back-shoulder score (@theleviedwards, @samwarren83).
• Spencer Burford and Jackson Powers-Johnson handled the majority of first-team reps at the two guard spots (@theleviedwards).

Los Angeles Chargers

• The line blocking for Justin Herbert to open 11-on-11: Rashawn Slater, Trey Pipkins, Tyler Biadasz, Cole Strange, Joe Alt, with Pipkins in the mix at left guard for the first time this week (@krisrhim1, @krisrhim1).
• Tuli Tuipulotu again did not practice, going through individuals before working with a trainer off to the side (@krisrhim1).
• Akheem Mesidor was among the first players on the field; Tuipulotu and Khalil Mack have both praised his routine and work ethic (@krisrhim1).

Los Angeles Rams

Miami Dolphins

• The Malik Willis-to-Caleb Douglas connection heated up on Day 3: a perfectly placed back-shoulder ball 25 yards downfield, then a pair of scoring strikes including one to the corner pylon (@WingfieldNFL).

Minnesota Vikings

• Justin Jefferson spoke for the first time in camp and embraced the QB competition: "a competition brings out the true dog in you," adding it's about building chemistry with both quarterbacks (@alec_lewis, @BenGoessling).

New England Patriots

Philadelphia Eagles

• The "Jalen Hurts hasn't thrown a touchdown pass in two practices" narrative is a nothing burger: the Eagles haven't done any red-zone work or much game simulation yet (@JFMcMullen).

Pittsburgh Steelers

• Aaron Rodgers turned around and told a pair of loud hecklers to settle down, a first for Mark Kaboly, who approved (@MarkKaboly).

Steelers Wide Receiver Battle: How to Read the Reps

The single most useful data point in a camp battle is not who makes the highlight catch. It's who lines up where, and with whom. Friday gave us a clean read in Pittsburgh: Germie Bernard took the vast majority of first-team slot reps while Roman Wilson worked outside with the second unit (@ASaunders_PGH). That split matters more than the box-score version of practice, because slot reps with the starters are a direct pipeline to targets, while outside reps with the 2s are an audition. The wrinkle: Mike McCarthy telegraphed Wilson's outside work in advance, which reads as a staff deliberately widening a player's role rather than demoting him. Alex Saunders calls WR3 the best battle of early Steelers camp with both players exceeding expectations (@ASaunders_PGH), and our projections treat it that way: a genuinely open competition where the padded-practice rep split, not one big play, will tell us who wins the snaps that matter for fantasy.
