Yesterday's Five Biggest Stories
1. Bijan Robinson Becomes the Highest-Paid RB in NFL History
The hold-in is over in Atlanta: Bijan Robinson and the Falcons agreed to a three-year extension worth up to $75 million, making him the highest-paid running back in NFL history with a record $51 million locked in (@AdamSchefter). Schefter's rundown of Atlanta's offseason extensions puts the base at three years, $66.75 million (@AdamSchefter), which works out to $22.25 million per year and tops Saquon Barkley's $20.6 million atop the RB market (@AdamSchefter); Ian Rapoport pegged the max annual value at $25 million, with the deal done by Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports (@RapSheet), and Marc Raimondi added that $37 million comes at signing (@marcraimondi). Robinson had been a hold-in since camp opened but now returns to the field as the centerpiece of Atlanta's offense (@AdamSchefter), exactly what we want to see with fantasy drafts approaching. The ripple is immediate: Schefter says the stage is now set for the Lions and Jahmyr Gibbs, drafted four picks after Robinson in 2023, with Jonathan Taylor entering the final year of his own contract (@AdamSchefter).
2. Preseason Football Arrives: Kenny Pickett Starts the Hall of Fame Game
Panthers QB Kenny Pickett will start Thursday night's Hall of Fame Game against the Cardinals (@AdamSchefter). Dave Canales said no clear-cut starters will play, including Monroe Freeling (@josephperson). Mike Kaye's read: Pickett starting is good for the depth players battling for roster spots, with King expected to get the bulk of the game, though Kaye still calls him an enigma (@mike_e_kaye).
3. Mike Evans Sits With a Quad Strain — 49ers Preach Caution
49ers WR Mike Evans did not practice Monday due to a quad strain (@AdamSchefter). The exhale came quickly: Ian Rapoport called it a very minor strain (@RapSheet), and David Lombardi noted Evans would not have sat down for a long radio interview that morning if the quad were a real problem. San Francisco is simply exercising big caution with its receivers, with De'Zhaun Stribling's hamstring tightness handled the same way (@LombardiHimself). Even without his top three wideouts, Brock Purdy kept the offense crisp, with Demarcus Robinson emerging as his favorite target (@LombardiHimself).
4. The Real Travis Kelce Stands Up
After a fake, AI-generated video of an out-of-shape Travis Kelce circulated all weekend, Jesse Newell posted footage of what Kelce actually looks like at Chiefs camp, and the real thing is in football shape (@jessenewell). Consider it a 2026 reminder to trust beat writers over viral clips. The timing matters in Kansas City, where Xavier Worthy is nursing a sprained shoulder and the first-team receiver reps are being reshuffled in his absence (@ByNateTaylor).
5. Coby Bryant Out 8-10 Weeks, and the Bears Secondary Is Suddenly Thin
Bears safety Coby Bryant is expected to be sidelined 8-10 weeks with a hyperextended knee, bone bruise and small fracture suffered at Monday's practice, though no surgery is expected (@AdamSchefter). Josina Anderson reported the $40 million March signing went down clutching his left knee, slammed his helmet in frustration and was carted off (@JosinaAnderson). Courtney Cronin laid out the ripple effect: Cam Lewis had been covering nickel with Kyler Gordon already out and now shifts to safety (@CourtneyRCronin), top backup Elijah Hicks is on PUP, and the back line of Chicago's defense is extremely thin (@CourtneyRCronin).

Team-by-Team Camp Notes
Arizona Cardinals
- The Cardinals claimed two players off waivers (@RapSheet).
- Arizona opens the preseason Thursday night against the Panthers in the Hall of Fame Game (@AdamSchefter), and Donnie Druin rounded up everything learned so far in the backup quarterback battle (@DonnieDruin).
Atlanta Falcons
- Bijan Robinson is the highest-paid RB in NFL history, and his hold-in is over (@AdamSchefter). Full story above. Atlanta has now extended Robinson, Drake London, Kyle Pitts and Matthew Bergeron this offseason (@AdamSchefter).
- Tua Tagovailoa returned to 11-on-11 team sessions Monday, though for just two series and three pass attempts (@marcraimondi).
- Michael Penix Jr. hit Antwane Wells with a beautiful deep touchdown bomb against Clark Phillips — good coverage, better throw (@FalcoholicKevin). Josh Kendall says throws like that keep Penix formidable in the QB competition (@JoshTheAthletic).
Baltimore Ravens
- First padded practice under new HC Jesse Minter (@jeffzrebiec), and the defense showed up: Lamar Jackson went 0-for-5 in 11-on-11 with two defensive pass interference penalties drawn, though Jonas Shaffer noted Jackson was hunting high-reward throws, so no alarm (@jonas_shaffer). Jeff Zrebiec's summary: a few nice runs popped, but the passing game was not sharp (@jeffzrebiec).
- In WR/CB 1-on-1s, Zay Flowers beat Marlon Humphrey on a double move for a touchdown, and Ja'Kobi Lane got by Chidobe Awuzie for another score, while Elijah Sarratt had a deep ball bounce off his hands (@brianwacker1).
- Veteran DL Calais Campbell and John Jenkins both made their camp debuts (@jonas_shaffer), while Nnamdi Madubuike eased back from neck surgery with individual drills only (@jamisonhensley), and Ian Rapoport's early read on those drills was so far, so good (@RapSheet).
Buffalo Bills
- Dalton Kincaid shared a rookie-year story: playing the Dolphins in Buffalo, Bradley Chubb lined up across from him and asked whether he liked it in Buffalo. Kincaid's answer: "I love it" (@SalSports).
- Kincaid was checked by trainers Monday after taking a shot below the belt and said he's fine (@SalSports).
Carolina Panthers
- Kenny Pickett starts Thursday's Hall of Fame Game against Arizona (@AdamSchefter). Full story above. Aside from players in position battles, no starters will play (@Sheena_Marie3).
- Joe Person flagged a John Metchie double move in one-on-one work (@josephperson).
Chicago Bears
- Coby Bryant is out 8-10 weeks (@AdamSchefter). Full story above. If Chicago shops for a veteran safety, the best free agents available include Xavier Woods, Jabrill Peppers, Taylor Rapp and Jordan Poyer (@jacobinfante24).
- Braxton Jones got the most first-team reps at left tackle in the first full-pads practice and did well in 1-on-1 drills (@adamjahns); Larry Mayer says the left tackle competition will only intensify now that pads are on (@LarryMayer). Stability there is quietly a pass-protection story for the whole Chicago passing game.
- Luther Burden's release off the line is drawing rave reviews (@Schultz_Report); file that under bullish for his target share.
Cincinnati Bengals
Quiet day in Bengals camp — nothing notable to report.
Cleveland Browns
- Rookie WR KC Concepcion left practice with a shoulder injury after a hard fall, but sources say nothing serious turned up and the team expects him to be fine (@Schultz_Report). Before exiting, he got behind the secondary for an on-time deep touchdown from Shedeur Sanders (@Schultz_Report).
- Sanders ended Day 5 with a walk-off two-minute-drill touchdown dime to Gage Larvadain, and the offense went crazy (@camijustice).
- Zac Jackson's evaluation of the WR room: Concepcion and Boston are already miles better than every other Cleveland receiver (@AkronJackson), the kind of camp separation that pulls a rookie's draft price up a round.
- Tylan Wallace is firmly on the 53, catching a back-shoulder fade from Sanders in the two-minute drill (@DanielOyefusi).
Dallas Cowboys
- In the Cowboys' first padded practice, Christian Parker's starting defense won the day at all three levels (@VoiceOfTheStar), capped by Cobie Durant picking off Dak Prescott on a throw meant for CeeDee Lamb (@VoiceOfTheStar).
- Caleb Downs drew a one-word review ("WHOA") from Patrik Walker (@VoiceOfTheStar) and flashed a great run fill (@tommy_yarrish).
- Shavon Revel had his best day of camp with three pass breakups, including one against George Pickens (@VoiceOfTheStar); Clarence Hill notes the corner competition is heating up with Durant among the secondary standouts (@clarencehilljr).
- Jaishawn Barham and DeMarvion Overshown ran as the first-team linebackers (@jonmachota).
Denver Broncos
Quiet day in Broncos camp — nothing notable to report.
Detroit Lions
- Fresh this morning in Detroit: with Bijan Robinson's extension finalized, Adam Schefter says the stage is now set for the Lions and Jahmyr Gibbs, the No. 12 pick from that same 2023 draft (@AdamSchefter). A Gibbs deal in that neighborhood would only firm up his top-five draft price.
Green Bay Packers
- Matt LaFleur said one of his biggest camp disappointments has been pass rushers getting too close to the quarterback, an emphasis he delivered in Monday's team meeting (@mattschneidman).
- Jordan Love threw a laser off a play fake, hitting Watson perfectly in stride through a hole in the zone about 15 yards downfield (@AaronNagler).
- K Trey Smack went 3-for-5 again and sits 6-for-10 in camp (@RobDemovsky).
Houston Texans
- Guardian Caps announced Texans safety Jalen Pitre as their first-ever Guardian Cap Signature Athlete (@AdamSchefter).
- Rookie OL Keylan Rutledge keeps mixing it up with defensive linemen, getting into a mini tussle with Danielle Hunter after a successful Woody Marks run — DJ Bien-Aime credits him for adding juice to the unit (@Djbienaime).
- C.J. Stroud and the Texans worked indoors for the first half of Monday's practice (@AaronWilson_NFL).
Indianapolis Colts
- Stephen Holder remains convinced the Colts are living on the edge at receiver: with Alec Pierce (ankle) still out, the depth chart is essentially Josh Downs and then some order of Ashton Dulin, Laquon Treadwell and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. His verdict: Indianapolis has to make a move (@HolderStephen). Until one comes, Josh Downs is the only Colts wideout with a stable fantasy floor.
- Jonathan Taylor enters the final year of his contract just as the RB market reset above him (@AdamSchefter).
Jacksonville Jaguars
- The Jaguars have been adamant they want to keep Brian Thomas Jr., and Jordan Schultz's video case shows why (@Schultz_Report).
Kansas City Chiefs
- Travis Kelce looks like Travis Kelce, viral AI fakes notwithstanding (@jessenewell). Full story above.
- Peter Woods was the defensive champion of one-on-ones with a dominating performance, while Creed Humphrey, Trey Smith and Josh Simmons showed early form (@mattderrick). Sam McDowell called Woods and Simmons the two standouts of the drill (@SamMcDowell11).
- With Xavier Worthy sidelined, the first-team wide receivers to start team drills were Jalen Royals, Tyquan Thornton and Andrew Armstrong (@mattderrick), a pecking-order note worth logging if the absence stretches. Andy Reid expects Worthy (sprained shoulder) and rookie Cyrus Allen back later this week (@ByNateTaylor).
Las Vegas Raiders
- Pads came on in Las Vegas (@samwarren83), and Levi Edwards' names that popped: Maxx Crosby fresh off rehab, Malik Benson potentially rising up the depth chart quickly, Ashton Jeanty bringing the boom, Michael Mayer (Kirk Cousins loves his tight ends, Edwards notes), and Quay Walker as a chess piece (@theleviedwards).
Los Angeles Chargers
Quiet day in Chargers camp — nothing notable to report.
Los Angeles Rams
- The WR-CB battles in Rams camp keep delivering: Matthew Stafford launched a deep ball to Puka Nacua over the middle, and the covering defender arrived instantly to punch the ball out for the incompletion (@StuJRams).
Miami Dolphins
- Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor on the kicking competition between Riley Patterson and Zane Gonzalez: he feels fortunate to have two NFL kickers (@DavidFurones_).
Minnesota Vikings
- The defense dominated Minnesota's first padded practice (@alec_lewis). J.J. McCarthy got the first-team offense for the closing two-minute drill and it went about as poorly as possible: two pass breakups, a false start and a Byron Murphy Jr. interception (@WillRagatz). Kyler Murray worked the same period with the twos and didn't complete a pass (@alec_lewis).
- Kevin Seifert's rep count: Murray again took more first-team reps overall, and neither quarterback was particularly sharp (@SeifertESPN). Full battle breakdown below.
- It wasn't all bad for McCarthy, who earlier dropped a dot to Justin Jefferson for a toe-tap sideline catch off play action (@WillRagatz), while Murray opened 6-for-6 before a hospital ball caused an in-air collision between Jordan Addison and Isaiah Rodgers; both are fine (@WillRagatz).
- Tai Felton made a great catch, though Will Ragatz says the ball-spin celebration needs work (@WillRagatz).
New England Patriots
- A.J. Brown dislocated his thumb in Monday's practice but didn't miss any time (@AdamSchefter). Mike Reiss saw Brown jam it in a 1-on-1 rep against Christian Gonzalez, get looked at by doctors and keep practicing (@MikeReiss). Earlier he'd beaten Gonzalez for a catch in 7-on-7s and talked some trash (@ByMarkDaniels).
- Drake Maye praised the receiver room, crediting Brown for setting the tone alongside Romeo Doubs (@MikeReiss); Doubs, somewhat overshadowed, says he loves where he's at (@MikeReiss).
- WR Kyle Williams, who came up hobbling Saturday, sat out Monday's indoor practice. The top seven WRs, all roster-worthy, remain a notable early storyline (@MikeReiss).
- Mark Daniels scored Will Campbell a winner on both his 1-on-1 reps and says he's been great all camp (@ByMarkDaniels), and New England is signing former Giants DT Casey Rogers (@Schultz_Report).
New Orleans Saints
- Tyler Shough had his best day of camp so far, with some chemistry brewing (@nick_underhill).
- Barion Brown caught a bomb from Spencer Rattler, and Nick Underhill's verdict is that Brown looks like a player (@nick_underhill). Deep-league and best ball drafters can file the name away now.
New York Giants
- Dan Duggan called it one of the sloppiest camp practices he can remember, in fairness conducted partly in torrential rain with excessive pre-snap penalties on both sides (@DDuggan21). One ball slipped out of Jaxson Dart's hand mid-throw for an easy Jevon Holland interception (@JordanRaanan).
- Dart still connected on another 50-yard completion to Malachi Fields (@art_stapleton).
- First-round pick Arvell Reese might have been the best player on the field: a sack beating Andrew Thomas plus a handful of meet-in-the-hole run stuffs (@rydunleavy). Connor Hughes says Reese is really starting to come on (@Connor_J_Hughes).
- Malik Nabers was on the practice field, going through WR drills and taking install reps, though no 11-on-11 yet (@DDuggan21).
New York Jets
Quiet day in Jets camp — nothing notable to report.
Philadelphia Eagles
- Zach Berman called it perhaps the best pass he's seen from Jalen Hurts this summer: a tight-window deep ball down the middle to Elijah Moore in stride (@ZBerm). Eliot Shorr-Parks had the first-team offense's best series of camp: deep shot to Wicks, sideline to DeVonta Smith, middle of the field to Moore (@EliotShorrParks).
- Hurts stacked red-zone highlights too: a touchdown to Smith, then a play where he rolled right and threw left across his body to beat Riq Woolen for a two-point conversion (@BrandonGowton).
- The defense answered once: Quinyon Mitchell took a pick-six off Hurts in 7-on-7, possibly off a miscommunication with the receiver (@BrandonGowton).
- Nolan Smith publicly apologized for the offseason speeding arrest (135 mph in a 70-mph zone), saying he apologized to the organization and it can't happen again (@Jeff_McLane).
Pittsburgh Steelers
- Alex Kozora called rookie OL Max Iheanachor's first run through 1-on-1s one of the better rookie showings he can remember (@Alex_Kozora); Iheanachor held his own against T.J. Watt, Jack Sawyer and Alex Highsmith in the pass-rush drill (@Alex_Kozora).
- Another day, another Drew Allar dime: this one a 60-yarder to Cole Burgess behind the defense in 7-on-7 (@bepryor).
- Gerry Dulac called it the most tame, uneventful first day in pads he's seen at camp, and Jaylen Warren agreed it's not what the Steelers are used to (@gerrydulac).
- Darnell Washington took reps as a fullback in a two-point stance during early install run work (@Alex_Kozora).
San Francisco 49ers
- Mike Evans (quad strain) sat out, with the team preaching caution (@AdamSchefter). Full story above. RB Kaelon Black (adductor) also didn't practice (@nwagoner), and De'Zhaun Stribling is day-to-day with hamstring tightness (@MaioccoNBCS).
- David Lombardi's Block 2 wrap: even without his top three wideouts, Brock Purdy managed crisp success, with Demarcus Robinson as his favorite target (@LombardiHimself).
- Fresh off an NBA title, Knicks coach Mike Brown visited 49ers camp, where his son Cameron is a defensive assistant (@LombardiHimself).
Seattle Seahawks
- Hard Knocks with the Seahawks premieres tonight at 9 p.m. ET on HBO Max, including a segment with Mike Macdonald and safety Nick Emmanwori (@AdamSchefter).
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Quiet day in Buccaneers camp — nothing notable to report.
Tennessee Titans
Quiet day in Titans camp — nothing notable to report.
Washington Commanders
- Veteran CB Fabian Moreau is returning to Washington, the team that drafted him in 2017. It's a double reunion: he played for DC Daronte Jones with the Vikings last year (@MikeGarafolo).
- Mike Sainristil broke up consecutive red-zone plays in a last-second drill, showing good eyes and positioning (@john_keim).

Vikings Quarterback Battle: How to Read the Reps
The Minnesota rep sheet looks contradictory on the surface: Kyler Murray again took more first-team reps, yet J.J. McCarthy got the ones for the closing two-minute drill — and went 0-for-3 with a Byron Murphy Jr. interception while Murray went 0-for-2 with the twos (@SeifertESPN, @alec_lewis). Here's how we read that: overall rep share tells you who the staff currently trusts to run the offense, while situational assignments like a closing two-minute drill are evaluation reps: the staff manufacturing pressure to see what the younger quarterback does with it. Monday's answer was ugly (@WillRagatz), but one padded practice is a data point, not a verdict; McCarthy also dropped a toe-tap dime on Justin Jefferson earlier in the day (@WillRagatz).
The two scenarios: If Murray holds the first-team edge into the preseason games, expect a scramble-heavy offense where Justin Jefferson's downfield target share holds but the intermediate volume shrinks; if McCarthy overtakes him, the timing-route diet that feeds Jordan Addison comes back into the projection.
Our projections weight the trend in first-team rep share over any single drill result. If Murray is still holding the rep edge when preseason games arrive, the Jefferson and Addison projections start tilting toward his flavor of offense, and McCarthy's dynasty window pushes back another year.
Injury Watch
