1. Stefon Diggs Signs With the Commanders, and Washington's Target Tree Just Changed

The receiver Washington had been circling all week is now a Commander. Jordan Schultz broke the news that the team is signing four-time Pro Bowl wideout Stefon Diggs (@Schultz_Report), Nicki Jhabvala and JP Finlay quickly confirmed it (@NickiJhabvala, @JPFinlayNBCS), and Adam Schefter reported the terms: a one-year deal worth up to $12 million (@AdamSchefter). The day's biggest engagement number belonged to a stadium. The Chiefs announced that, starting this season, their home will once again be known simply as Arrowhead (@AdamSchefter). The "GEHA Field" naming-rights branding is gone, per Pete Sweeney (@pgsween). It changes nothing about a single projection, but it tells you how loudly the football world reacts when one of its cathedrals gets its name back. No camp story drew a bigger reaction Wednesday.

3. Puka Nacua Hires the Agency That Just Reset the WR Market

Rams standout Puka Nacua, entering the final year of his four-year rookie contract, has hired Win Sports Group to represent him in contract negotiations (@AdamSchefter). That is the agency on Zay Flowers' $140 million Baltimore extension a day earlier (August 5 edition), which is exactly why the hire is a story and not a transaction footnote: agencies get hired to convert leverage, and no receiver in football has more of it right now than Nacua. A Nacua negotiation shadowing the season is the kind of storyline that can drift into practice availability, so we are watching how Los Angeles handles it from here.

4. Tank Dell Practices for the First Time Since December 2024

The best comeback story of the summer took a real step Wednesday. Texans receiver Tank Dell returned to the practice field for the first team padded work he has done since December 2024 (@AdamSchefter). Per DJ Bien-Aime's ESPN report, Dell participated in a limited capacity after missing all of last season following the knee injury he suffered in Week 16 of 2024. Limited reps in early August leave a long road to fantasy relevance, but a healthy Dell was one of the most explosive slot options in football, and C.J. Stroud's target tree gets a lot more interesting if he makes it all the way back.

5. It's Official: Jalon Walker Is Out for the Season

The fear from Tuesday's practice became formal Wednesday: the Falcons confirmed Jalon Walker will miss the 2026 season with the torn ACL he suffered Tuesday (@AdamSchefter). Jeremy Fowler reported the tests that confirmed the tear (@JFowlerESPN), and the team made it official shortly after (@RapSheet). Daniel Flick's audit of what remains in Atlanta's edge room is sobering: Samson Ebukam two years removed from a torn Achilles, unproven Bralen Trice, and an open question about which version of Azeez Ojulari shows up (@ByDanielFlick). Arizona Cardinals

• Carson Beck got his final practice in Wednesday before starting tonight's Hall of Fame Game (@BoBrack).
• Tyler Drake's preview of the backfield usage in Canton: with Jeremiyah Love not playing and Tyler Allgeier likely in the same boat, expect a heavy dose of Bam Knight and Corey Kiner (@Tdrake4sports). Atlanta Falcons

• Bijan Robinson's extension is signed, sealed and celebrated. The team posted his message to the city after he put pen to paper (@AtlantaFalcons), Michael Penix Jr. joked that the quarterback room's advice is that if you get into trouble, just "Bij" it (@UnderdogNFL), and Robinson said former coach Arthur Smith texted him a warning not to start buying everything (@ByDanielFlick).

Buffalo Bills

Circle August 20 on the football calendar instead: that is the joint practice against the Browns, and Cleveland's quarterback rotation plans for it are already news (see Cleveland below).

Carolina Panthers

• The Panthers open the preseason tonight against the Cardinals in the Hall of Fame Game, and the team posted its how-to-watch guide (@Panthers).
• Mike Kaye and Alex Zietlow's podcast preview covers what they are watching in week two of camp and the first preseason action (@mike_e_kaye).

Chicago Bears

• Caleb Williams had his cleanest period of camp: 9-of-10 with five touchdowns in red-zone 7-on-7, the only incompletion essentially a throwaway, capped by Kaden Davis' diving one-handed grab in the back corner (@AdamHoge). Adam Jahns adds that Colston Loveland caught two of the touchdowns (@adamjahns). Red-zone efficiency is where Williams' fantasy ceiling lives, so we will take the data point.
• Darnell Wright's extension, the biggest ever for a right tackle (August 5 edition), got its locker-room victory lap: Ben Johnson acknowledged it after practice and joked that Wright owed his position coach a loan (@AdamHoge), while Wright opened his own remarks by giving thanks to Jesus (@CourtneyRCronin).
• OC Press Taylor gave the clearest articulation yet of Ben Johnson's offensive philosophy: explosives over efficiency — the offense is built to attack a defense (@AdamHoge). That is a pro-ceiling scheme signal for every Bears skill player.
• LB T.J. Edwards was activated off the Active/Non-Football Injury list (@ChicagoBears), while Joe Thuney and Grady Jarrett got what looked like a veteran rest day (@BradBiggs).

Cincinnati Bengals

• The most quietly important usage note of the day: Chase Brown has been deployed all over the formation early in camp, similar to the way Ja'Marr Chase has been used in recent years, per Paul Dehner Jr. (@UnderdogNFL). Formation versatility is the difference between a volume back and a volume-plus-routes back, and the second kind wins fantasy leagues.

Cleveland Browns

• Todd Monken revealed why Tuesday's practice ended when it did: he stopped it after Shedeur Sanders led a successful two-minute drive because he wanted the offense to end on a high note, which means Deshaun Watson never got a two-minute drill of his own (@ScottPetrak).
• The structure of the competition is now explicit. Monken said Watson and Sanders will keep alternating first-team reps every practice until he names a starter, and whoever leads the No. 1 offense in the August 20 joint practice against the Bills will simply follow the natural rotation (@DanielOyefusi). Denver Broncos

• Bo Nix laid out the plan for Jaylen Waddle: middle of the field, outside, vertical, behind the line: wherever the defense gives it, Denver will attack with him, per Nick Kosmider (@UnderdogNFL). A quarterback describing a receiver as an everywhere player is the usage profile we want to hear in August.

Detroit Lions

• Front-office news in Detroit: the Lions named Richard Haddad, currently the Detroit Pistons organization's chief operating officer after a 14-year tenure there, as Team President and CEO; he joins in early September (@AdamSchefter). The team's announcement has the details.

Green Bay Packers

• The moment of the day in Green Bay: first-year special teams coordinator Cam Achord was asked how Trey Smack likes his kicks held, came off the podium, and physically demonstrated for almost two minutes (@mattschneidman).
• OC Adam Stenavich says Matthew Golden's route detail is much better in year two: playing fast, strong hands, playing with confidence, per Matt Schneidman (@UnderdogNFL). Second-year receiver leaps are the most reliably underpriced asset class in fantasy drafts.
• Micah Parsons is only about seven months post-surgery from an injury that was more than an isolated ACL tear, but he hardly ruled out a Week 6 return against his former team (@mattschneidman).

Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders Kicker Battle: How to Read the Reps

A kicker competition rarely earns the spotlight, but this one directly decides a fantasy-relevant job, and Wednesday brought the best-reported look inside any camp battle in the league. Per Sam Warren's camp notebook at The Athletic, veteran Matt Gay and rookie Kansei Matsuzawa, the "Tokyo Toe," are in a tight race, and special teams coordinator Joe Decamillis is not framing it as a veteran keeping a seat warm: he categorized it as a legitimate competition (@samwarren83).

What makes the battle readable is how openly the two are pushing each other. Warren's piece has Gay praising the rookie as way farther ahead than Gay was at that stage and hitting the ball great, and Matsuzawa calling Gay a great mentor. That mutual-respect framing runs through the whole roster: Klint Kubiak's camp mantra is compete with each other, not against each other, a phrase Fernando Mendoza popularized when describing how the quarterback room supports Kirk Cousins as the starter while grooming the No. 1 pick behind him.

The two scenarios: If Matt Gay's track record holds serve through the preseason games, he opens the season as a usable fantasy kicker in a rising offense; if Matsuzawa outkicks him in live stadiums, the cheaper rookie wins the tie and deeper-league drafters get a free square nobody is watching.

How to read it from here: when a coordinator publicly validates a rookie specialist against an established veteran in early August, the reps that matter are the live ones: preseason kicks, in stadiums, starting this week. A veteran on a real contract usually holds serve in a coin-flip camp; a rookie who wins preseason legs outright can flip the math, because the cheaper specialist wins ties. Our projections treat the Raiders' kicker job as genuinely open until the preseason boots say otherwise, and fantasy drafters in deeper formats should draft the situation, not the name.
