Studs

Kofi Cockburn ($9,100) — With multiple value pieces, this slate offers stars and scrubs builds. Highlighting the elite tier is Illinois Kofi Cockburn. Illinois enters this game against Michigan as a 9.5-point favorite in a game with a 145-point total. This gives Illinois the second-highest implied team total on the slate at 77.25 points. Michigan defense the interior well enough with Hunter Dickinson, but Cockburn presents a tough challenge. At 31 minutes, Cockburn projects for 13 rebounds and 15.7 points, making him one of the highest raw projected players on this slate. He has a 22.2% usage rate, 25.4% shot rate and 32.5% rebound rate over Illinois’ last three games. Even at $9,100 Cockburn is still a supreme value.

Orlando Robinson ($8,900) — For those looking at contrarian pivots in the expensive range, Orlando Robinson has a similar 22.6% usage rate to Cockburn. However, Fresno State finds themselves in a pick-’em game against UNLV with a low 127-point total. Robinson has a 25.1% shot rate, 24% rebound rate, and 21.5% assist rate on the season. UNLV plays decent interior defense with Royce Hamm, but the matchup does not downgrade Robinson. With only the game environment holding him back, Robinson makes sense in larger tournaments.

Jaden Ivey ($7,700) — The best game environment on the slate, Purdue is a 20-point favorite over Nebraska in a game with a 155-point total. Nebraska plays at one of the fastest paces in the country, with one of the worst defenses. While the blowout is a risk, Jaden Ivey‘s 19% usage rate is worth targeting here. Ivey consistently plays in the high 20s or low 30s in terms of minutes with an 18.9% shot rate, 12.4% rebound rate and 16.2% assist rate. Zach Edey and Trevion Williams always have GPP appeal, but neither plays consistent minutes. Ivey brings a solid floor in that regard, making him the preferred option in low-risk contests. Either way, this is a game environment to attack on the Purdue side.

Sincere Carry ($7,300) — Priced down across the board, usage monster Sincere Carry finds himself priced at $7,300 in a competitive game against Akron. Kent State is a 1.5-point favorite over the Zips in a game with a 133.5-point total. However, Carry has some of the best usage on the entire slate. He has played every possible minute in each of the last four games. Carry also accounts for a 24% shot rate, 13.5% rebound rate and 40.9% assist rate for Kent State over the course of the season. Akron ranks 145th in defensive efficiency overall, but that number spikes to 231 when isolated to 3-point defense. Carry takes the most 3’s on the team, setting him up for a strong performance here.

Mid-Range

Hyunjung Lee ($6,500) — Another pick-’em game, Davidson will take on Richmond in a game with a 143-point total. In this price range, Hyunjung Lee and Luka Brajkovic both make sense. However, Lee’s 19.8% usage rate bests Brajkovic’s 16.4% usage rate for a cheaper price. On the year, Lee accounts for a 20.3% shot rate, 19.4% rebound rate, and 13.4% assist rate in the Davidson. Richmond has taken a step back this year with the 205th ranked defense in terms of efficiency. It should be noted that Michigan State transfer Foster Loyer also projects well for a cheaper price. However, Loyer typically plays 28-29 minutes, while Lee offers a ceiling in the mid-30s.

Jalen Adaway ($6,400) — One of the worst game environments on the slate, St. Bonaventure takes on VCU as a 2-point favorite in a game with a 130.5-point total. St. Bonaventure plays an incredible narrow rotation, but that is reflected in price. Jalen Adaway has at least 33 minutes in three straight games, with upside to play literally every minute in a close game. On the year, he has an 18.1% shot rate and an 18.7% rebound rate, which look attractive for his price. For those looking at middling options, Adaway provides consistency for his price with every other St. Bonaventure option priced at $7,000 or above.

Adrian Baldwin ($5,700) — Finally getting close to full health, VCU sits as a slight underdog to St. Bonaventure. VCU won their last contest by 27 points, making the rotation somewhat tricky to decipher. However, Adrian Baldwin should play a major role for this squad with his team-leading 18.6% usage rate. Prior to the blowout win, Baldwin played 37 and 31 minutes for VCU, getting his shot rate up to 15.3% and his assist rate up to 30.9%. Again, this is a poor game environment, but St. Bonaventure’s defensive efficiency has slipped to 182nd this year. Baldwin could make sense in some contrarian builds.

Xavier Castaneda ($5,300) — On the other side of the Kent State game, Akron provides multiple value pieces in a solid matchup. Xavier Castaneda looks like the top of the group with his 17.2% usage rate. Castaneda has an elite minute projection, reaching 35 minutes in two of Akron’s last three games. In that span, he accounted for 24.1% of the shots, 14.7% of the rebounds, and 23.3% of the assists. Kent State’s primary defense weakness occurs in the interior, which Castaneda does not necessarily take advantage of. However, his involvement across statistical categories makes him a solid play at a fairly cheap price.

Value Plays

Ali Ali ($3,700) — Mentioned above, this Akron vs Kent State game provides multiple value pieces. On the Akron side, Ali Ali has played 30, 36, and 37 minutes in three straight games for the Zips. He has a 17.2% shot rate and 21.2% assist rate on the season at a miniscule price. The rebound rate leaves a little to be desired, but Ali should be able to pick up a few against Kent State’s 252nd ranked rebounding.

Enrique Freeman ($3,400) — Another potential value piece for Akron, big man Enrique Freeman is also priced below $4,000. Freeman directly takes advantage of Kent State’s 254th ranked interior defense. He only has a 14% shot rate on the year, but his 29.4% rebound rate gives him enormous upside in this spot. Freeman typically plays in the upper 20s in minutes, but fouls are a risk. Freeman fouled out in 21 minutes in Akron’s most recent game. However, if Freeman can avoid foul trouble, he should be one of the best value plays on this slate.

Leo Colimerio ($3,000) — Heading back to Fresno State, Leo Colimerio provides another potential value option. A low-usage starter for this team, Colimerio’s value comes from consistent minutes. The second-year player has reached 30 minutes in three straight games. He has only reached that mark in two other games this year, so there is still risk. However, Colimerio still provides solid value here at the stone minimum against UNLV.

Greg Tribble ($3,000) — The last value piece to talk about for Akron, Greg Tribble appears to have taken on a larger role for the Zips. Tribble has now played 31 and 32 minutes in back-to-back games. His 13.4% usage rate leaves a little to be desired, but he continues to get more involved. His shot rate, rebound rate, and assist rate have all climbed over the last three games. Ultimately, Tribble still projects below his teammates Ali and Freeman, but for those looking at a min-priced pivot, Tribble could make some sense.
