Awesemo's Annual Diversity in Sports Media Scholarship

Awesemo.com is pleased to announce the inaugural 2020-2021 $5,000 Awesemo Diversity in Sports Media Scholarship!

Awesemo.com LLC is a sports media company focused on daily fantasy sports, fantasy football, sports betting and sports culture. Our platforms feature both free content in the form of articles, podcasts and how-to guides, as well as premium products, which offer the best analytics available to fantasy sports players and sports bettors alike. We cover all major sports including basketball (NBA, WNBA and college), football (NFL and college), baseball (MLB), hockey (NHL), mixed martial arts (UFC), racing (NASCAR), golf (PGA), soccer (EPL and Champions League), eSports (League of Legends and CSGO), and tennis (ATP).

Students currently enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at an accredited college or university in the U.S. are invited to apply. Applications will be accepted beginning on July 15, 2020 and the application deadline is May 1, 2021. One student will be chosen from the pool of applicants based on the merit of their essay. The award amount is $5,000.

Overview

Awesemo.com is establishing the Annual Diversity in Sports Media Scholarship to support and encourage students from diverse and under-represented backgrounds to pursue further education in sports media. To apply, students will submit responses to the prompts below through our online application portal.

Eligibility

The scholarship is available to students currently enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at an accredited college or university in the United States for the 2020-2021 academic year. There will be no limitations based on students’ chosen major or field of study, but students should be interested in pursuing a career in sports media upon graduation.

Essay Questions

The application period will open on July 15, 2020. To apply, please submit responses to these prompts along with verification of your enrollment in an accredited college or university in the United States. The application period will close on May 1, 2021, and the winner will be announced no later than June 1, 2020. Please limit your response to each question to 400 words.

Terms

The Awesemo Annual Diversity in Sports Media Scholarship award is to be spent on tuition, fees, books, academic supplies, and anything else related to the student’s education at their enrolled university. Scholarship funds may not be used for any non-academic purpose. Recipient must be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university in the United States. Their enrollment status may be subject to verification prior to the scholarship award being made. Enrollment status will be verified after a recipient is selected and before the award is disbursed.

 

Awesemo.com employees and their immediate family members are prohibited from submitting applications or receiving the award.

 

The application period opens on July 15, 2020, and closes on May 1, 2021. Applicants must submit their applications directly on the Awesemo.com website.

 

The award amount is $5,000 USD. The award will be disbursed via single payment directly to the student. If it is found that the student does not meet enrollment or eligibility requirements, the award status will be revoked at the discretion of Awesemo.com. Applicants must reside in the United States and be enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States. The recipient will be selected based on their responses to the essay questions published on the scholarship website. All submitted essays must be original work of the applicant. The applicant with the best essay responses will be selected to receive the award. This criteria is subject to the sole discretion of Awesemo.com employees reviewing submitted essays. Submissions received after the application deadline (May 1, 2021) will not be accepted or reviewed under any circumstances.

 

Once an award recipient is chosen from the pool of applicants, the recipient will be notified via email and telephone. By submitting an application, Awesemo.com is granted permission to contact applicants regarding their application via their submitted email address. By submitting an application, Awesemo.com is also granted permission to post the award recipient’s name and school Awesemo.com website, and their name and school may be publicized across other Awesemo.com properties (including, but not limited to, social media, blogs, and other media outlets). Scholarship recipients may be required to submit a current photo and submit a release granting Awesemo.com permission to use their photo on Awesemo.com’s website and in other marketing communications. The information you provide is subject to Awesemo.com’s privacy policy, located at /privacy-policy. 

 

Applicants may withdraw their application at any time by notifying Awesemo.com via email ([email protected]) at least 24 hours prior to the application deadline of May 1, 2021. Withdrawal request may be validated by Awesemo.com by any means, including through verification of email or other criteria. If the award recipient declines the award, or if the award recipient is found to be not eligible for the award, another applicant will be selected to receive the award from the available pool of applicants. If the award winner does not reply by the date specified in the Awesemo.com email communication, Awesemo.com reserves the right not to award the scholarship to the winner, and to award the scholarship to another applicant or to redistribute the scholarship award dollars to another scholarship. 

 

This applicant’s enrollment status will be verified before the award is disbursed.

 

An applicant who is a minor in his/her/their state of residence must obtain and submit written permission from his/her/their parent/legal guardian to apply.

 

By applying for the scholarship, applicants agree to these Terms and Conditions, which are final and binding in all respects.
