We’re headed to the Philly suburbs for the sixth Signature Event of the season, and for the first time, the PGA TOUR takes on the Wissahickon Course at Philadelphia Cricket Club. Let’s dive into my PGA DFS picks and core plays for the Truist Championship.
Course Preview
It’s a classic A.W. Tillinghast design, restored in 2013, and while it only stretches to 7,119 yards, it’s no pushover. With 118 bunkers—the most on Tour—plus fast Bentgrass greens and several long par 4s, players will need to excel off the tee and display elite accuracy from the fairways.
With no cut and a stacked field (minus Scottie), I leaned on total driving, SG: T2G, Approach, Off the Tee, and key Scrambling, Striking and Sand Save stats to help build this week’s DFS entries.
Using the Stokastic PGA Sims Tool, I’ve locked in the top plays for this week. Our hole-by-hole simulations project each golfer’s potential and, combined with PGA DFS projections, allow us to run tens of thousands of lineup builds. This helps us zero in on the best plays — the ones showing up most often in the highest-ROI lineups. The Sims Tool is a big part of my weekly DFS process, and I highly recommend it if you’re looking to level up your lineups.
Let’s dive into the Truist Championship picks that I will be building my lineups around this week on DraftKings.
PGA DFS Picks: Truist Championship DFS Picks & Core Plays
PGA DFS Picks: Truist Championship DFS Picks & Core Plays: Ludvig Aberg – $9,800
After running our PGA Sims multiple times, one name that consistently stood out for both exposure and leverage was Ludvig Åberg. It doesn’t take much to convince me to buy in on the 25-year-old phenom, but having Stokastic’s tools highlight him at the top only reinforces the play.
Over his last 36 rounds, Åberg ranks 3rd in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee and 5th in driving distance among this field. Zooming out to season-long metrics, he sits 28th in Total Driving and 35th in Sand Save percentage.
He followed up a 7th-place finish at Augusta with a disappointing T-54 at the RBC Heritage, but with rest and prep on his side, this signature event sets up nicely as a tune-up for the PGA Championship in a couple weeks.
Corey Conners – $8,800
Canadian Corey Conners profiles well for this course layout.
Over his last 36 rounds, he ranks 5th in SG: Off the Tee, 6th in Driving Accuracy, and 14th in SG: Total. On the season, he’s 15th in Greens in Regulation Percentage and already has six Top-20 finishes.
There’s a growing sentiment that Conners is due for a breakthrough win, and this could be the perfect spot—especially at a signature event on a course where there is no familiarity for the top contenders to take advantage of.
The Philadelphia Cricket Club might just be the place where he finally makes his mark. According to Stokastic’s Top Golfers Tool, Conners finishes in the optimal lineup 14% of the time—ranking inside the top 10.
PGA DFS Picks; Truist Championship DFS Picks & Core Plays: Taylor Pendrith – $7,100
Taylor Pendrith could end up being one of the top DFS steals this week.
Over his last 36 rounds, Pendrith ranks 2nd in SG: Off the Tee. On the season, he’s 1st in Ball Striking, 3rd in Total Driving, and 5th in Greens in Regulation Percentage.
Our sims give Pendrith one of the highest leverage scores in the field. He’s already flashed upside with three Top-10 finishes this year – don’t be surprised if he adds another this weekend.
GPP Flier: Akshay Bhatia – $7,100
While not a total sleeper, Akshay Bhatia still comes at a bargain price for a proven talent.
Over his last 36 rounds, Bhatia ranks 13th in SG: Putting, 20th in SG: Approach, and 40th in SG: Tee to Green—good for 25th in SG: Total. One stat that stands out: he’s 24th in Greens in Regulation Percentage from 200+ yards, which fits this course setup well.
He also ranks 44th on Tour in Sand Save Percentage—a valuable trait given the abundance of bunkers.
Stokastic’s Top Golfers Tool gives him a 10% optimal rate with positive leverage. Don’t be surprised if Bhatia makes some noise this weekend.
