Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR DFS Tournament & GPP Picks | DraftKings & FanDuel

The field has been set for this Sunday’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 race at Sonoma after an evening practice and qualifying session to get the drivers ready for their second road course race of the 2022 season in the Next-Gen car. With elite road racers Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott leading the field to green on Sunday, let’s dive into the best NASCAR DFS plays for tournaments.

NASCAR DFS GPP Picks Today: Sonoma

NASCAR heads out west this weekend for their second road course race of the season at one of the more technical road courses in California. This season, NASCAR decided to forgo the carousel and will be running the chute this weekend after feedback from fans and drivers. The most comparable track to Sonoma currently is Circuit of the Americas, so pulling data from the race there will be something to consider for Sunday. With the lack of laps at road courses, they tend to be more so focused on finishing position and place differential upside when constructing lineups. Drivers also take many unique strategies throughout the race, setting themselves up to compete for a win, while others are selling out for stage points.

Top Driver Picks & Projections

Ross Chastain $9,800 DraftKings/$12,000 FanDuel (7th)

There are a lot of great plays up top this weekend, but Chastain should hopefully fly under the radar with all the big-name plays up top garnering hefty ownership. He is the most recent road course winner at COTA and has been dominant at all track types this season. His strong showing in practice placed further confidence in him for Sunday’s race, so he is one of the top race-winning contenders.

A.J. Allmendinger $8,800 DraftKings/$11,500 FanDuel (16th)

At first, it looked like Allmendinger would end up being one of the highest-owned drivers on the slate at his price point earlier in the week. However, with him qualifying well compared to others in his price range, it should stay somewhat down from where it should be. He’s not in top-tier equipment, but that is null at road courses and he showed at COTA he can bring home a win in the No. 16 car. He projects as one of the top plays this week.

Chase Briscoe $8,700 DraftKings/$8,800 FanDuel (15th)

Briscoe is a similar play to Allmendinger but at even lower ownership, especially after he failed as massive chalk last week. Briscoe is a very polished road racer and has race-winning potential, and his price point on both sites is fair enough to warrant consideration in tournaments. His only downside is that he can be aggressive, so he certainly won’t feel like a safe play.

Kurt Busch $8,100 DraftKings/$8,000 FanDuel (11th)

The Busch brothers are in a prime spot here at Sonoma, as both have excellent track records here and both showed a lot of speed in practice. It also helps to be a veteran with experience at tracks like these, and that will certainly play in his favor over the course of the race. This starting spot will keep him under the radar like he is most weeks, and he is an excellent spot to be played in tournaments.

Daniel Suarez $7,700 DraftKings/$7,500 FanDuel (8th)

Suarez was on radars heading into the weekend for how he looked early at COTA and he followed through with a very strong session Saturday. He was optimal last trip at Sonoma and has shown elite speed at various points throughout the season. Trackhouse projects to have contending cars on Sunday, so be overweight in tournaments.
