Week 14 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Tight Ends: Austin Hooper & Foster Moreau

Looking towards Week 14 of the NFL fantasy football season, we will look into the matchups to discern the positive or negative impact a given matchup will have on tight ends. Below are the Week 14 start ’em sit ’em tight ends based on their matchups.

Week 14 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Tight Ends

Must Start: Foster Moreau — Raiders at Chiefs

Last week against Washington many fantasy managers looked towards Moreau to replace Darren Waller. In that game, he was a big disappointment having just one reception on three targets for 35 yards in a 17 to 15 loss. This week they face the Chiefs which projects to be one of the highest-scoring games of the week. If the Raiders fall behind which could easily happen we will see the Raiders have a pass-heavy attack down the stretch of the game leading to more opportunities for Moreau.

Must Start: Dawson Knox — Bills at Buccaneers

Knox was quite the disappointment last week against the Patriots. Only have two receptions on six targets for 14 yards, but we should be trying to brush those stats under the rug as the winds made the passing attack very difficult. Just like with Moreau the matchup for Knox has the potential to be a very high-scoring game. It should be no surprise to see Knox bouncing back against the Buccaneers so play him with confidence this week.

Must Start: Austin Hooper — Browns vs. Ravens

This week David Njoku as well as Harrison Bryant are out against the Ravens. Normally we see the team cycle in multiple tight ends, which makes Hooper a tough player to start weekly, but now with Njoku and Bryant out we can really see Hooper flash. In his last game, he saw three targets resulting in zero receptions against the Ravens. Though in that game we did see Njoku score so without him the upside is quite high for Hooper.

Must Sit: James O’Shaughnessy — Jaguars at Titans

With Dan Arnold out, we have seen O’Shaughnessy be targeted at a decent rate with five and six targets in his last two games. Last week against the Rams he had two receptions on six targets for 13 yards. The issue with O’Shaughnessy is that the team just does not score passing touchdowns. In the last five games, Trevor Lawrence only has one passing touchdown. With one of the most important things for tight ends being touchdowns, when there appears to be a low percent chance of that happening you need to fade the tight end.

Must Sit: Evan Engram — Giants at Chargers

Even with multiple injuries to the wide receivers around Engram, we need to stay clear away from him. Last week against the Dolphins he had four receptions on five targets for 61 yards. The issue has not been targeted for Engram this season but rather his yards per target with just 6.4 on the season. Unless that magically increases this week, Engram will fall outside of the top eighteen at tight end.
