Working the Waiver Wire: Top Week 10 Fantasy Football Pickups | Duke Johnson + Drew Lock

We are going to be without some big names across the fantasy football landscape for Week 10 with the Falcons and the Chiefs being two of the four teams that are on a bye. If you need some reinforcements for your fantasy football team, there are at least some viable options available on the waiver wire. Here are some players to target who are still out there in the majority of Yahoo leagues.

[AUGUSTA]

Fantasy Football: Week 10 NFL Waiver Wire Pickups

Duke Johnson, Houston Texans (84% available)

David Johnson received just two carries before having to leave Sunday’s game against the Jaguars with a concussion. That left Duke Johnson to take over the lead role out of the backfield and he was certainly busy, finishing with 16 carries and four receptions for 73 total yards and a touchdown. If David is unable to play in Week 10, then Duke should once again be busy in a favorable matchup against a Browns team that has allowed an average of 29.6 points per game.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 1 (10%-15% of FAAB budget)

Gus Edwards, Baltimore Ravens (63% available)

It’s a bit surprising that Edwards is still available in this many leagues, but maybe his Week 9 matchup against the stout Colts’ defense is the reason. He wasn’t efficient in that game, rushing 11 times for 23 yards. However, he did find his way into the end zone and now has 27 carries across the last two games with Mark Ingram (ankle) out. If Ingram were to remain out, Edwards could have a productive evening against the Patriots, who have allowed the eighth-most rushing yards per game in the league.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 2 (10%-15% of FAAB budget)

Drew Lock, Denver Broncos (80% available)

The Broncos found themselves playing catchup against the Falcons on Sunday, which left Lock to throw the ball plenty in the second half. He ended up attempting a season-high 48 passes, which he turned into 313 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He was also busy on the ground, rushing seven times for 47 yards and another score. With that fantasy football performance, he now has six total touchdowns across his last two games. If you’re looking for a bye-week replacement for Patrick Mahomes or Matt Ryan, Lock is a viable target facing a Raiders team that has allowed the seventh-most passing yards per game.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 3 (5%-10% of FAAB budget)

Jalen Reagor, Philadelphia Eagles (76% available)

The Eagles are coming off a bye that they needed to try and get healthy. Reagor and Dallas Goedert both returned from injuries in Week 8 and Miles Sanders (knee) could make his return in Week 10 against the Giants. Reagor received six targets in Week 8 against the Cowboys, turning them into three receptions for 16 yards and a touchdown. Not only could Reagor be useful to fantasy managers in Week 10, but his upcoming schedule is very favorable. After the Giants, the Eagles play the Browns and the Seahawks, two teams who both rank inside the bottom-nine in the league in passing yards allowed per game.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 4 (5%-10% of FAAB budget)

Kalen Ballage, Los Angeles Chargers (99% available)

Justin Jackson (knee) went down on the Chargers’ first drive Sunday against the Raiders, which paved the way for a surprising performance from Ballage. He led the team with 15 carries, which he turned into 69 yards and a touchdown. He also caught two of three targets for 15 yards. Joshua Kelley was once again mostly ineffective, rushing nine times for 28 yards. If Jackson were to remain out in Week 10, Ballage could once again receive an expanded work load.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 5 (5%-10% of FAAB budget)

Ryan Nall, Chicago Bears (100% available)

David Johnson wasn’t the only running back who went down Sunday with a concussion. The Bears also lost David Montgomery late in their game against the Titans. That opened up added opportunities for Nall during the Bears comeback attempt. He caught all four of his targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in the game, and although he’d likely have to split work with Cordarrelle Patterson, Nall should see added time on the field if Montgomery is forced to sit out Week 10. The only problem is that the Bears play the Vikings on Monday night, so there’s a chance we won’t know if Montgomery will be available or not until after Sunday’s games are underway.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 6 (5% of FAAB budget)

Curtis Samuel, Carolina Panthers (70% available)

Samuel is coming off of his best game of the season after recording nine catches for 105 yards and a touchdown against the Chiefs. He also posted 13 yards on three carries. The wide receiver has been involved in the running game with Christian McCaffrey out for most of the season, receiving at least three carries in five of his eight games. While McCaffrey did make his return against the Chiefs, his status for Week 10 is now in doubt after he suffered a shoulder injury. If he’s forced to sit out, Samuel could be involved enough in both facets of the offense to provide upside.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 7 (3%-5% of FAAB budget)

Jakobi Meyers, New England Patriots (87% available)

It took a late comeback, but the Patriots managed to keep the Jets winless Monday night. They targeted Meyers heavily during their comeback, resulting in him catching 12 passes for 169 yards. With their depleted wide receiver depth chart, Meyers has 24 targets across the last two games. As encouraging as that is, a Week 10 matchup against the Ravens will make it difficult to start him in fantasy, even if N’Keal Harry (concussion) remains out. However, the Patriots have been looking for someone to step up at wide receiver, so Meyers’ recent performance could make him a viable WR3 option at times throughout the remainder of the fantasy football season.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 8 (1%-3% of FAAB budget)

Trey Burton, Indianapolis Colts (77% available)

The Colts have a quick turnaround this week since they will be playing the Titans on Thursday. That should mean that Jack Doyle will be unable to take the field considering he suffered a concussion Sunday. The Colts do not have a dynamic offense by any stretch of the imagination, but quarterback Philip Rivers does like to throw to his tight ends, which has helped Burton register at least four targets in all five games that he has played in this season. The Titans have allowed the sixth-most passing yards per game, so Burton could be worth adding if you need a fill in for Travis Kelce.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 9 (1%-3% of FAAB budget)

Jordan Howard, Miami Dolphins (66% available)

Howard has been one of the most inefficient running backs in the league, turning his 28 carries this season into only 33 yards. However, he has four touchdowns, including one that came last week against the Cardinals. He also received 10 carries in that game with both Myles Gaskin (knee) and Matt Breida (hamstring) out. Gaskin is on IR, so if Breida remains out, Howard would at least have touchdown upside against the Chargers.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 10 (1%-3% of FAAB budget)
