Week 5 Fantasy Football Buy-Low Trade Candidates: T.J. Hockenson & Damien Harris

Checking fantasy football projections can provide a sense of how a player should perform in a given matchup. Let’s look into some of the best fantasy football trade values for Week 5 that could be league winners with the right buy-low offer.

Week 5 Fantasy Football Buy-Low Trade Values & Targets

Christian McCaffrey – RB – Carolina Panthers

Following McCaffrey’s injury, he was not been placed on the injured reserve. He practiced twice this week but is doubtful to play on Sunday. Prior to getting injured in Week 3 against the Texans, McCaffrey had seven carries for 31 yards. Even with him getting hurt early in the game, he is still the RB16 in half-PPR. Everyone already knows how good McCaffrey is, but with the uncertainty surrounding when he will return, some fantasy managers may be nervous to hold him. Especially if their team is struggling, if that is the case, swoop in and pick up McCaffrey now.

Michael Thomas – WR – New Orleans Saints

While we are still uncertain about the exact timing of Thomas’s return to the gridiron it would appear that we are getting closer to it. While Jameis Winston has not been throwing as much as we might have expected for the Saints this season when Thomas returns he will be given the ball. The price will never be cheaper for Thomas, and it is entirely possible that this trade helps you make a strong push for the playoffs. Regardless of the quarterback, Thomas has gotten it done, whether it’s Drew Brees or Taysom Hill, so it is highly likely that Winston can make Thomas a top-12 wide receiver.

T.J. Hockenson – TE – Detroit Lions

Hockenson has slowed down after an electric start to the season. This fall down in production has hurt but Hockenson is still the TE5 in half-PPR. Last week against the Bears, he saw eight targets for 4 receptions and 42 yards. The Lions wide receiver core is still up in there and it is likely that most weeks Hockenson is the leader in targets. He is a weekly top-5 option so try and get him now while his value is low.

Damien Harris – RB – New England Patriots

A lot like Hockenson, Harris started the season out hot and has slowed down as of recently. Last week he went against a buzz saw run defense in the Buccaneers, rushing four times for -4 yards. Despite a tough game, Harris’ value increased immensely after James White’s injury. J.J. Taylor also had a rough fumble last week that could have him land in the metaphorical doghouse. Harris is in for a hefty workload on the season, he also already has more targets this year than last season. While it is unlikely that Harris finishes inside of the top 12, he is a reliable RB2 week in and week out.

Kyle Pitts – TE – Atlanta Falcons

Pitts has been far from exceptional in his rookie season sitting as TE21 in half-PPR. Last week against the Washington Football Team, he had four receptions on nine targets for 50 yards, which was his highest target total this season. This week the buy-low window will slam shut as he has a smash matchup against the Jets. This Falcons team is down Russell Gage and Calvin Ridley giving him an even higher chance to be the best tight end in fantasy this week.
