DraftKings Best Ball How To Strategy Guide
Scoring
DraftKings uses a PPR format with 3-point bonuses for 100-plus rushing and receiving yards. Quarterbacks receive the same 3-point bonus for 300-plus passing yards.Â
Rosters
DraftKings best ball features 20 roster positions. Starting lineups consist of one quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers, one tight end and one flex (RB/WR/TE). This leaves 12 bench spots.Â
Positional Allocation
- 2-3 Quarterbacks
- 4-7 Running Backs
- 6-10 Wide Receivers
- 2-3 Tight Ends
In general, it makes sense to end up on the lower end of positional allocation if drafting a position early. Similarly, it makes sense to end up on the higher end, if drafting position late. For example, if a drafter selects Jalen Hurts in the second round, leaving with two quarterbacks should be prioritized. Likewise, if a drafter selects their first running back after Round 5, drafting six or seven may make the most sense.Â
Drafters should come in with a fluid process. Every draft will be different, meaning hard rules cannot always be applied. You never know what players will fall and it is best to capitalize on value when it presents itself.
Lastly, for positions like quarterback and tight end, it is important to remember byes. If your plan is to draft just two quarterbacks, make sure they do not have the same bye.
DraftKings Best Ball Strategy
With DraftKings employing a PPR and bonus scoring structure, quarterback scoring ends up being a lower percentage of overall scoring in lineups. In general, dual threat quarterbacks provide additional upside, compared to their standard pocket passing counterparts.
The 100+ yard bonus also elevates the elite running backs and receivers. It also makes the elite fantasy options a little less touchdown reliant compared to other platforms. A great historical example of this is Derrick Henry. Throughout his career, Henry hasn’t received much pass game work. His reliance on touchdowns makes him more valuable on other sites, when compared to DraftKings.
