Thursday has a solid seven-game featured slate locking at 7:05 p.m. ET on DraftKings, FanDuel and Yahoo. As we dig around for the MLB DFS picks for today, leaning on Stokastic’s MLB DFS Simsoptimizer and MLB DFS projections is the best way to find value. Whether you’re building the best MLB DFS stacks today, locking in top pitchers or rounding out your roster with high-upside value plays, using smart, +ROI tools is vital.
According to the Stokastic MLB DFS Top Stacks Tool, the Atlanta Braves stand out once again as they wrap up their series with the Athletics in West Sacramento, while the Boston Red Sox are facing a substandard starter, with the Tampa Bay Rays and Seattle Mariners providing alternative stacks. Pitching is tricky, and gamers crafting five or more lineups tonight should consider a leverage stack against Spencer Strider. Logan Allen should provide some bang for your buck against the hopeless Chicago White Sox, while Bryan Woo, Taj Bradley and Michael Soroka are tenuous tournament targets.
Main Slate Primary Pitching Target: LHP Logan Allen (CLE at CHW)
Guardians at White Sox – 4.1 implied runs First Pitch: 7:40 p.m. ET $7,700 at DraftKings $8,600 at FanDuel $33 at Yahoo
The Stokastic MLB DFS Top Pitchers tool has LHP Logan Allen as one of the better fantasy point-per-dollar options for Thursday’s featured slate. Chicago did get Luis Robert Jr. (hamstring) back from the injured list, though as a southpaw, it is unlikely that Allen will see fellow lefties Andrew Benintendi or Michael Tauchman tonight.
Robert has been productive against left-handed pitching this season, getting some support from veteran outfielders Michael A. Taylor and Austin Slater. Miguel Vargas has shown power when he can get the bat on the ball in opposite-handed matchups, but this trio provides plenty of strikeout upside. Taylor has a 44.7% strikeout rate in 76 plate appearances, while Slater is woeful as well with a 29.4% rate in his 51 opportunities.
Having built-in strikeouts opportunities is key for Logan since was very mediocre with an 18.0% strikeout rate across his last 799 batters faced. Allen looked solid as a rookie, though he regressed last year and had challenges with home runs (2.03 per nine innings). This season he has addressed that, cutting the power production in half; however, it has been at the cost of his strikeout rate, which sits just below seven per nine innings.
Main Slate Secondary Pitching Target: RHP Spencer Strider (ATL at ATH)
Braves at Athletics – 4.6 implied runs First Pitch: 9:05 p.m. ET $9,500 at DraftKings $9,800 at FanDuel $52 at Yahoo
It is going to be interesting to see how gamers handle RHP Spencer Strider tonight, with game-time temperatures in the upper 90s for the first hour of this 6:05 p.m. game in West Sacramento. Current projections have the Atlanta ace on around two-thirds of all tournament rosters on DraftKings and Yahoo, with around a 40% representation for FanDuel.
The soon-to-be 23-year-old logged a season-high 100 pitches in his last outing, and he produced a quality start in four of his last six. Excluding his wicked 13-strikeout masterpiece against Colorado, he recorded a tick over one strikeout per inning in this stretch.
Youngsters Nick Kurtz (32.7%, 159 plate appearances), Max Muncy (31.3%, 147 PAs), Zack Gelof (34.5%) and Denzel Clarke (40.2%, 102 PAs) all have elevated strikeout rates, giving Strider what he needs to make his own magic at the plate.
Looking at OddsShopper, we can see that the over 7.5 strikeouts for Strider is currently -129 on Novig.
Other options tonight include first-time All Star RHP Bryan Woo in New York facing the Yankees, who are on a three-game winning streak, having ended a six-game slide. Woo has been getting by on efficiency, ranking third among qualified starters with just 14.24 pitches per inning.
This and his run prevention enabled him to earn 13 quality starts in his 17 appearances. The Bronx Bombers are at full health, aside from utilityman Oswaldo Cabrera, making them a daunting lineup to take on, even with a frontline starter like Woo.
After Woo, RHPs Taj Bradley and Michael Soroka have the next highest likelihood of being the top scoring pitcher. Pause for a moment and let that sink in … Bradley is at a career-low 20.1% strikeout rate, well under his 23.9% rate from last year. He has seen an uptick in his ground ball rate to 48.1%, though lefty power has been his kryptonite. That makes it tough, considering he will have to face Jarren Duran (.241 ISO, 780 PAs) and Wilyer Abreu (.237 ISO, 620 PAs), along with youngsters Marcelo Mayer (.221 ISO, 84 PAs) and Roman Anthony (.182 ISO, 68 PAs).
Soroka does have a better strikeout rate compared to last year, increasing from 24.1% to 26.0%. He has done a nice job of limiting power from same-handed batsmen, but like Bradley, he has a long row to hoe against Brendon Donovan, Alec Burleson, Nolan Gorman and Lars Nootbaar. While this quartet doesn’t have the same level of power, they are all well above average, and aside from Gorman (29.8%), each has a sub-20% strikeout rate against right-handed hurlers this season.
MLB DFS Optimizer Picks Today: Top Stacks
Main Slate Primary Target: Tampa Bay Rays
Rays at Red Sox – 4.6 implied runs First Pitch: 7:10 p.m. ET Opposing Starter: RHP Walker Buehler DK Top Stack %: 8.7% FD Top Stack %: 8.1%
The Stokastic MLB DFS Top Stacks Tool sees plenty of offenses in good situations tonight, leading to many potential strategies for success. In West Sacramento, the mercury is going to be nearing triple digits, and while LHP JP Sears did not allow a home run in his last two starts, he is still eighth in the league, which has Atlanta rating out as the top stack across the main DFS sites.
The Tampa offense was boosted by playing a lot of games at Steinbrenner Field early in the season in an effort to avoid the constant presence of summer showers in June and July. Brandon Lowe is day-to-day with what seems to be an oblique issue, but the top of the order is still strong in Yandy Diaz, Jonathan Aranda, Junior Caminero and Josh Lowe.
Aside from a decent showing in the postseason for the Dodgers, the last two years for RHP Walker Buehler have been rough. He suffered a combined .201 ISO against the last 738 batters he faced and posted a weak 18.7% strikeout rate. The current form has been awful as well with a 9.29 ERA, 7.47 FIP and 5.57 xFIP across his last seven starts, spanning 31 innings. The 25 strikeouts in this timeframe are manageable, but the 19 walks and nine home runs are no bueno.
Stokastic’s MLB DFS Single Lineup Simulator is a game-changing tool that transforms lineup construction through powerful, data-driven simulations — essential for serious DFS players. See how the Simulator analyzes this single lineup for today’s MLB DFS slate:
Main Slate Contrarian Target: Seattle Mariners
Mariners at Yankees – 4.6 implied runs First Pitch: 7:05 p.m. ET Opposing Starter: RHP Marcus Stroman DK Top Stack %: 7.8% FD Top Stack %: 7.7%
This has been a tough season for RHP Marcus Stroman as the 34-year-old missed three months with knee inflammation, stemming from an ACL injury that occurred back in 2015. Before and after his time on the injured list, he was ineffective with a whopping 10 walks in his 19.1 innings of action and only 12 strikeouts.
Stroman’s superpower used to be that he was an excellent ground ball pitcher (60%) who limited power and had just enough strikeout upside to work out of jams. Father Time is undefeated and has caught up, with Stroman down to a 49% ground ball rate and up to a career-high 1.19 home runs per nine innings over his last 35 appearances. His 16.7% strikeout rate last year has dropped to 13.5% in his limited outings this season, and he has been having trouble with lefty power.
Cal Raleigh is having an epic season so far, setting all sorts of Seattle power records for the pre–All-Star Game period. Luke Raley and Dominic Canzone provide cheap power candidates who thrive against opposite-handed hurlers, and switch-hitter Jorge Polanco is having a resurgent year from the left side of the plate.
Today’s Top Sports Betting Picks
If you’re serious about making sharp MLB DFS picks, you already know that long-term success starts with using the right tools. The same approach applies to sports betting — and that’s where Portfolio EV shines.
Take a bet like Brady House under 0.5 total hits. On the surface, it’s a simple play. But behind the scenes, it’s a +EV bet — meaning it’s mathematically profitable based on the best odds available. And with Portfolio EV, you’re not relying on one-off picks. You’re stacking dozens — even hundreds — of +EV wagers at scale using the Mass Entry tool, turning small edges into long-term profit.
Wondering what is Portfolio EV? Well, it’s the best sports betting tool on the market!
Just like one DFS lineup won’t win you a GPP, one smart bet doesn’t build a bankroll. But a consistent process does. This isn’t about chasing hot streaks. It’s about making smart, data-backed decisions every day and letting the math do the heavy lifting.
House is the fourth-best prospect in the Washington system, though his ranking is reliant on his defense and above-average power potential. He was the 11th overall selection in the 2021 MLB Draft directly from high school. Across 86 plate appearances in The Show, House has a .247/.279/.296 triple-slash line, four doubles, four walks and 20 strikeouts. He had hits in 14 of his 20 (70%) games, though he has struggled against crafty veterans who get him to chase pitches. The hope for this wager is that RHP Miles Mikolas does enough to keep House off-balance. This wager is a stay-away at anything below +175.
