NBA DFS Picks Today: Building Blocks

Immanuel Quickley: Raptors at Nets

NBA DFS Projections
DraftKings: 32.54 | FanDuel: 31.29
NBA DFS Ownership Projections
DraftKings: 34.6% | FanDuel: 25.4%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,400 | FanDuel: $6,600

Toronto is in Brooklyn tonight, with the Raptors installed as 10-point road favorites. The Nets are playing at a bottom-3 pace, though the team has the worst defense in the league, allowing 126.6 points per 100 possessions, which is 5 more than Washington and 6 more than New Orleans.

Over the last three games, Quickley averaged 32 minutes, 14 field goal attempts, 18.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.3 steals. These are not exactly eye-popping stats, though considering the stable floor and attainable 40-fantasy point upside, the 26-year-old is a strong play in all formats.

Last year Quickley played in just 33 games, with RJ Barret appearing in 58 and Scottie Barnes making 65 starts. This core is starting to gel, and the Raptors won five of their last six games, falling to the 76ers 130-120 on Saturday. Barnes is one of the most popular plays on FanDuel ($8,600, 38.4%), and he is just inside the top 20 on DraftKings ($8,400, 21.9%)

Brandon Ingram was injured when he was traded from New Orleans to Toronto last year, so he is another new variable with the first five. He has been steady at 21.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 stocks (combined steals and blocks). There is a good chance that Ingram, Barrett (20.7 points) and Barnes (19.9 points) could all average north of 20 points per game this season, giving opposing teams plenty to worry about.

Michael Porter Jr. is appealing from the Brooklyn side, particularly on DraftKings ($7,400, 37.1%). He is still in the mix for FanDuel ($7,300, 21.8%) tournaments as he is going to push for 20 field goal attempts most games with Cam Thomas (hamstring) missing the next month.

NBA DFS Picks Today: Building Blocks

Tyrese Maxey: 76ers vs. Celtics

NBA DFS Projections
DraftKings: 47.5 | FanDuel: 46.27
NBA DFS Ownership Projections
DraftKings: 3.2% | FanDuel: 14.9%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $10,300 | FanDuel: $10,000

Joel Embiid (knee) and Jared McCain (knee/thumb) are listed as probable, though McCain is being worked back slowly and unlikely to play more than 15 minutes.

This should not have much of an adverse impact on Tyrese Maxey, who played 39 and 42.6 minutes in the last two games with Embiid.

Maxey is leading the league at a whopping 41.1 minutes per game, well above the 37.6 he averaged in each of the last two seasons. He also is atop the leaderboard with 23.2 field goal attempts per game, ranking second at 33.2 points and sixth with 8.2 assists. He has a lofty salary tonight, though there should be enough value options available to facilitate lineups with the budding superstar.

Looking at the Stokastic Boom/Bust Tool, Maxey is currently underrepresented in tournaments by around 3% on both DraftKings and FanDuel. This is positive leverage against the field, and considering it is likely that Maxey will not reach double-digit popularity on DraftKings and probably will settle in around the low-20% range on FanDuel, it is not daunting to be over the field by a few percentage points to take advantage of his upside potential.

Embiid is also in play tonight on DraftKings ($7,600, 23.8%), where gamers can roster two center-only options. He is less appealing on FanDuel ($8,200, 5.4%) as there is only one center slot is available. Neither site includes the 11:00 p.m. ET game between the Sacramento Kings and Denver Nuggets for their largest tournaments.

The Cameroonian has a median fantasy point projection that is about 6 points higher than Isaiah Hartenstein, 7 points more than Nic Claxton and 8 more than Jusuf Nurkic. He also has a better fantasy point-per-dollar ratio than any other center on DraftKings, just edging out Neemias Queta, who will be one of the players tasked with slowing down the still-effective big man. Minutes, of course, will be monitored for Embiid, though he played 25 in each of the last three games and he had 43 or more DraftKings points in three of the last four.

Jaylen Brown and Derrick White are secondary targets on the main DFS sites, with Anfernee Simons a DraftKings discount dandy at $4,500.

NBA DFS Picks Today: Building Blocks

Ajay Mitchell: Thunder vs. Warriors

NBA DFS Projections
DraftKings: 30.14 | FanDuel: 30.01
NBA DFS Ownership Projections
DraftKings: 13.4% | FanDuel: 29.1%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $6,300 | FanDuel: $6,000

For gamers who were mostly focused on football for the last few days, Ajay Mitchell moved into the starting lineup for Oklahoma City, replacing injured Luguentz Dort. Aaron Wiggins (adductor) is also out, and Jalen Williams (wrist) is getting close to a return, though the team does not intend to rush him back.

Mitchell is averaging 31.3 minutes, 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.6 stocks per game with the first five. He should continue to see similar run tonight, so do not nerf him from your player portfolio when his name pops up.

DraftKings assigned appropriate salaries for most everyone else from both sides of this game, with no other players reaching double-digit popularity. On FanDuel Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Cason Wallace and Jonathan Kuminga are all in the low-teens.

Both the DraftKings and FanDuel slates will be discussed in depth tonight, so sure to tune into Stokastic NBA Deeper Dive and Live Before Lock at 5:30 p.m. ET on YouTube for expert analysis, key insights and winning strategies to dominate your NBA DFS picks today!

Today’s Top Sports Betting Picks

If you’re serious about winning in NBA DFS, you know the edge comes from having the right tools. The same principle applies to sports betting, and that’s where Portfolio EV shines.

Take a bet like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to have fewer than 2.5 assists tonight. On the surface, it’s a simple play. But behind the scenes, it’s a +EV bet, meaning it’s mathematically profitable based on the best odds available. Portfolio EV finds these +EV bets and allows you to bet them at high volume with just a couple clicks, maximizing your bankroll’s long-term profitability.

Digging into the details on Portfolio EV, Caldwell-Pope is currently listed at -150 for under 2.5 assists, which works out to a steady 4.6% expected ROI when compared to the -169 “true odds.” Most other books have this wager in the -180 range, with a couple all the way down at -200, which maths out to a NEGATIVE 2% to 6% expected ROI..

This highlights the top-down approach employed by Portfolio EV to identify which sportsbooks stepped out of line with their peers, as well as the overall market for a wager. Caldwell-Pope projects for 2.3 assists tonight, and he had three or more just once in the last four games. This game is in New York, and while the Knicks are middling on defense, the team is playing at the fifth-lowest pace in the league this season, with just 99.3 possessions per 48 minutes. Memphis in turn is a little above league average with a 102.8 pace. Though he is starting, the soon-to-be 33-year-old averaged just 23.7 minutes per appearance over the last seven games.
