Wednesday keeps the NBA action moving with a 7:00 p.m. ET lock time on FanDuel and DraftKings. DraftKings and FanDuel have elected to craft differing featured-slates, with the blue site including the two late games for their docket. That means you should not overlook Austin Reaves on FanDuel, while Nikola Jokic is a targeted click on DraftKings, while being an afterthought on FanDuel. .

NBA DFS Picks Today: Building Blocks

Josh Giddey: Bulls vs. Kings

NBA DFS Projections
DraftKings: 47.25 | FanDuel: 44.51
NBA DFS Ownership Projections
DraftKings: 19.5% | FanDuel: 17.1%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $8,800 | FanDuel: $8,900

Josh Giddey is dealing with a sprain of his ring finger on his (right) shooting hand. Though he is not currently listed on the injury report, it is worth keeping this in mind for tiebreakers. The 23-year-old signed a four-year, $100 million deal with Chicago, and while he is definitely a defensive liability, he should become a DFS mainstay in lineups throughout the regular season.

This is a back-to-back game for Sacramento, as well as the third tilt in the last four days. The Kings began a four-game road trip last night with a 107-101 loss in Oklahoma City, though they will get a bit of a respite until Saturday, when the team resumes action in Milwaukee.

Sacramento makes the Island of Misfit Toys crew look like a cohesive unit, which to be clear is not a compliment. The team lacks a true point guard, 3-point shooting and is a mess on defense with Domantas Sabonis the “rim protector” — insert laugh track here. The undefeated Chicago Bulls had three different high scorers through their trio of tilts, as well as three different assist leaders.

Giddey should be able to work his offensive magic tonight, making him an intriguing tournament target with around a 20% representation on DraftKings and FanDuel. Keep in mind that the two sites differ with their featured slates, as FanDuel includes the two late games while DraftKings cuts things off at a 9:00 p.m. ET cap.

Second-year wing Matas Buzelis had his ups and downs as a rookie, and we are likely to see more of the same from the 21-year-old this season. His numbers are a little light due to fouling out of the second game of the season, logging just 12.4 minutes in Orlando. Last year he had a reasonable 3.0 fouls per 36 minutes, earning only one disqualification, with five fouls in four other games out of 80 appearances. In a completely unscientific, analytical approach, taking the DQ out of his game logs, he averaged a tick over 33 minutes, 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 “stocks” (combined steals and blocks). Expect around a fantasy point per minute as a baseline for the youngster, with something in the 1.1 to 1.2 rate a realistically attainable upside for this matchup.

Rounding out the Bulls, Nikola Vucevic is a secondary target on DraftKings ($8,300, 14.8%), though he can be skipped on FanDuel ($8,100, 8.8%), where the opportunity cost of using the lone center slot on him is a less than savvy strategy.

Russell Westbrook was a semi-surprise starter last night for the Kings, who signed the well-traveled veteran just prior to the start of the season. Dennis Schroder was brought in to be the point guard, though with DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, Domantas Sabonis and Malik Monk all in the mix as secondary facilitators, Schroder can serve more as a combo guard, which is a better real-life role for the veteran of 13 NBA campaigns.

Because of the unexpected start last night, Westbrook has desirable salaries on DraftKings ($4,500, 52.0%) and FanDuel ($4,800, 33.7%), currently making him the punt du jour, under the assumption he continues to stay with the first five.

The rest of the starters for Sacramento can be sprinkled across lineups, with Sabonis (17% to 20%) being the only player trending to be on more than 10% of tournament rosters.

NBA DFS Picks Today: Building Blocks

Pascal Siakam: Pacers at Mavericks

NBA DFS Projections
DraftKings: 45.22 | FanDuel: 44.24
NBA DFS Ownership Projections
DraftKings: 39.8% | FanDuel: 19.8%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $8,400 | FanDuel: $9,200

Between the injury to Tyrese Haliburton and the departure of Myles Turner, Pascal Siakam sees an uptick in his rebounds and assists. The Cameroonian is a capable contributor in all facets of the game, and while he may not continue to average double-digit rebounds, he should be close to his 8.5 career high from 2021 in Toronto when he made the All-NBA Third Team.

Siakam was always a terrific passer, though some of his work ends up being “hockey assists,” meaning he often gets the ball to the guy before the guy scoring. That is perfect for on-court action, though can lead to some variance for the DFS world in this category. Expect something in the 24-8-5 range as a nightly baseline for points, rebounds and assists, making Siakam someone to check in on every game to see how his salary and matchup can provide value.

Indiana is gobsmacked by injuries, losing Obi Toppin (foot) until early December, while T.J. McConnell (hamstring), Bennedict Mathurin (foot) and Andrew Nembhard (shoulder) are each expected to miss the next fortnight. That resulted in the team turning to RayJ Dennis as the lead guard after he signed a two-way deal with the Pacers during the offseason. He went undrafted following five seasons in college, starting 144 of 164 games in his time with Boise State, Toledo and Baylor.

Dennis and Ben Sheppard may flipflop in the starting lineup depending on the matchup for the next couple weeks, though both are likely to flirt with around 30 minutes of run for the shorthanded Pacers. Dennis ($3,800, 59.9%) is more popular than Sheppard ($4,200, 29.5%) on DraftKings in the early projections, and both are expected to be on approximately 10% of FanDuel tournament lineups.

For Dallas, PJ Washington and Anthony Davis are solid secondary selections on DraftKings and FanDuel, with Cooper Flagg standing out on the blue site ($6,500, 17.9%) and D’Angelo Russell getting the DraftKings ($5,300, 19.2%) nod.

NBA DFS Picks Today: Building Blocks

Nikola Jokic: Nuggets vs. Pelicans

NBA DFS Projections
DraftKings: 63.92 | FanDuel: 60.87
NBA DFS Ownership Projections
DraftKings: 45.7% | FanDuel: 15.4%
DFS Salary
DraftKings: $11,500 | FanDuel: $12,100

Nikola Jokic is attempting only 13.7 shots per game after averaging 19.5 and 17.9 each of the last two seasons. Expect that to move closer to 17 attempts per game, along with some improvement in his 12.5% 3-point success rate, trending towards his 35.8% career average.

The Stokastic NBA DFS Projections have Jokic for 34.6 minutes, 28.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, 9.8 assists and 2.5 combined blocks and steals. This has him as a priority play on DraftKings, though on FanDuel (which is including two additional games) he is more of a tournament differentiation piece, taking up the lone center slot.

The replacement option on FanDuel is Austin Reaves, who will be carrying the load once against for the Lakers, with LeBron James and Luka Doncic both out due to injuries. Minnesota is listed as a 6.5-point favorite, even without Anthony Edwards. Reaves is averaging 35.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 1.8 “stocks” through four games, which is tremendous production.

Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels will need to pick up more offensive responsibilities for the Timberwolves, as will Donte DiVincenzo. Marcus Smart (quad) and Jaxson Hayes (knee) are questionable for Los Angeles, so be sure to tune into the Stokastic NBA Deeper Dive and Live Before Lock at 5:00 p.m. ET on YouTube for expert analysis, key insights and winning strategies to dominate your NBA DFS picks today!

Today’s Top Sports Betting Picks

If you’re serious about winning in NBA DFS, you know the edge comes from having the right tools. The same principle applies to sports betting, and that’s where Portfolio EV shines.

Take a bet like Derrick White to fall below 30.5 points + rebounds + assists (PRA) tonight. On the surface, it’s a simple play. But behind the scenes, it’s a +EV bet, meaning it’s mathematically profitable based on the best odds available. Portfolio EV finds these +EV bets and allows you to bet them at high volume with just a couple clicks, maximizing your bankroll’s long-term profitability.

Digging into the details on Portfolio EV, White is currently listed at -124 on RallyBet and SugarHouse. DraftKings has this wager available at -113 odds while lowering the threshold down to 28.5 PRA, which is a significant drop from a 2.1% expected ROI all the way down to a negative 5.2% expected ROI compared to the -130 “true odds” for under 30.5 PRA. Be a savvy shopper!

White is going to be a key cog for Boston this season, though tonight’s matchup is a little tricky. Cleveland is solid with the sixth-best defensive efficiency rating this season, allowing 107.9 points per 100 possessions. This is somewhat softened by the Cavaliers rolling with the 10th-fastest pace at 104.4 possessions per 48 minutes. Boston head coach Joe Mazzulla has his thinned-out roster with the third-lowest pace, averaging just 96.8 possessions per 48 minutes. That will likely trend upwards, but given White project for a tick over 30 PRA, it makes sense to embrace the variance and take the -124 for under 30.5, particularly with most of the other books at under 29.5 and 28.5 PRA for only slightly better odds.
