Will it be Isiah Pacheco or Jerick McKinnon who has more value for the Kansas City Chiefs or Sunday afternoon? Ahead of the team’s Week 15 game against the Houston Texans, let’s take a look at the Isiah Pacheco–Jerick McKinnon fantasy football and DFS ranking and analysis.
Isiah Pacheco–Jerick McKinnon Fantasy Football Ranking
Per Stokastic’s weekly running back rankings, Isiah Pacheco (No. 22 on the board) ranks above Jerick McKinnon (No. 30). And using Stokastic’s player compare tool, Pacheco projects to have 14.04 points, with Pacheco at 11.52. Stokastic’s expert DFS projections list Pacheco ($5,900) as a better value play than McKinnon ($5,200) as well.
Even before Clyde Edwards-Helaire went down with an injury, Pacheco was already starting to win over the trust of head coach Andy Reid, taking over the starter mantle near the midway point of the season. The rookie running back has 591 yards and three touchdowns on the season, starting in seven of the Chiefs’ 13 games thus far.
“He’s doing a good job there,” said Reid to USA Today. “He’s learning on the move, but he’s had some good snaps. It’s worked out well … Clyde’s getting reps, and he’s getting reps, and I think that’s healthy. We’re able to throw fastballs at the guys, and then [McKinnon] is getting in there and doing his thing more on third down, but he got some first or second-down calls also. But we’ll just keep bringing [Pacheco] along, and I like the progress he’s making.”
With Pacheco getting the bulk of the carries in Kansas City, McKinnon has served as more of the third-down and pass-catching back in the tandem. In the Week 14 win over the Denver Broncos, McKinnon turned out his best performance of the season, catching seven passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns. His previous high in receiving yards was just 56.
Luckily for both Pacheco and McKinnon owners, they’ll be going up against a lowly Texans team that ranks dead last in fantasy points allowed to running backs. And while both Pacheco and McKinnon could have some value in this matchup, Pacheco is the better choice between the two.
