Daily Fantasy Football: Week 15 DraftKings + FanDuel NFL DFS Picks

Drew Brees Expected To Return In Week 15

This should end the Taysom Hill experiment at quarterback. I thought he played relatively well and showed more ability throwing the football than I expected. With Brees back, Michael Thomas gets elevated to one of my favorite plays on the slate. Thomas saw a ton of targets with Hill at quarterback, and I don’t expect this to change. He was consistently one of the best fantasy wide receivers a year ago, and I expect he will finish the season with similar production from 2019. Thomas struggled earlier in the season with Brees, but this was mostly because Thomas dealt with ankle injuries. He went over 100 receiving yards in eight of his final 10 games last season and averaged over 10 targets per game.

Jalen Hurts Remains Cheap After Flashing Upside

I am not coming off a good daily fantasy football week. One of the only things I hit on in Week 14 was recognizing the upside in Hurts. I don’t have a strong opinion on whether he will end up as a great quarterback in real life. What I do know is that his rushing ability will make him a force in daily fantasy football. Not only is Hurts a good running quarterback, he’s more than willing. He carried the ball 18 times last week and finished with 106 rushing yards. With this kind of volume on the ground, Hurts is an upside play and works naked in lineups. I am shocked his projected ownership isn’t higher.

Derrick Henry Is The Chalk Of The Week

This comes as no surprise. After rushing for 215 yards and a pair of touchdowns last week, Henry draws another great matchup against the Lions. Detroit has one of the worst run defenses in the league, and the game script is incredibly favorable. The Titans are favored by 11 points and figure to run the ball for most of the second half. We need to play Henry in cash games.

In tournaments, there are ways to get around playing Henry. Dalvin Cook looks like a great pivot option. He’s cheaper, has half the ownership and is currently projected for slightly more fantasy points than Henry. This screams strong pivot scenario. Henry is a great play, but I don’t think he is twice as likely as Cook to end up in GPP-winning lineups this week. Recency bias makes this feel different, but Cook is actually averaging more fantasy points than Henry this season on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Falcons Banged Up At Wide Receiver Heading Into A Good Matchup

The Buccaneers are one of the best teams in the league defending against the run but have struggled against passing attacks in recent weeks. This sets up situations where we usually want to target wideouts against the Buccaneers. Julio Jones appears unlikely to play after missing last week’s game, and Calvin Ridley is questionable. If Ridley plays without Jones, then he becomes my favorite high-end wide receiver on the slate because of the funnel nature of the Bucs defense. If Ridley is also out, then the floodgates open up for value. Russell Gage would become a player needed in cash lineups, and Hayden Hurst would stand out as one of the better cheap tight end plays of the week. Matt Ryan has at least 30 pass attempts in every game this season, and the targets have to go somewhere.
