First Look: Week 4 NFL DFS Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel

Week 4 presents the last full slate of games in the NFL before bye weeks begin. Some teams are likely looking forward to their upcoming byes considering the amount of injuries that have hit across the league. As far as the outlook for DFS goes, let’s highlight some players to make note of as you work your way through the options.

NFL DFS Week 4 First Look | DraftKings + FanDuel NFL DFS Picks

Ryan Fitzpatrick, MIA vs. SEA (DraftKings: $5,400, FanDuel: $7,100)

Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins will have some extra rest for this game after defeating the Jaguars on Thursday. While he was only needed to throw 20 times in the win, Fitzpatrick made the most of his opportunities by completing 18 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns. He should be forced to throw a lot more here to keep up with the Seahawks’ offense, which could lead to a big afternoon considering the Seahawks have allowed the most passing yards per game in the league.

Nick Foles, CHI vs. IND (DraftKings: $5,700, FanDuel: $7,100)

Down big to the Falcons on Sunday, the Bears decided to bench Mitchell Trubisky. Foles came in and led them to a comeback win, throwing for 188 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Bears coach Matt Nagy did not say after the game which quarterback would start Week 4, but it would be difficult to go back to the struggling Trubisky based on how well Foles performed. Regardless of who starts, it might be best to avoid both quarterbacks in this NFL DFS matchup given that the Colts have allowed the fewest passing yards per game.

Runnings Backs

Mike Davis, CAR vs. ARI (DraftKings: $5,700, FanDuel: $6,300)

The Panthers earned their first win of the season in Week 3 despite playing without Christian McCaffrey (ankle). Davis stepped up in his absence, rushing 13 times for 46 yards and catching eight of nine targets for 45 yards and a touchdown. Expect him to once again be a dual threat out of the backfield against the Cardinals, making him an appealing option based on his salary on both sites.

Devin Singletary, BUF at LV (DraftKings: $5,900, FanDuel: $6,000)

The Bills were involved in a shootout with the Rams on Sunday and came away victorious thanks to another big afternoon from Josh Allen. Singletary took on an expanded role at running back with Zack Moss (toe) out. No longer forced to split the workload, Singletary shined with 121 total yards. If Moss is sidelined again in Week 4, Singletary would be in a favorable spot against a Raiders team that has allowed the fifth-most rushing yards per game.

Rex Burkhead, NE at KC ($DraftKings: $4,800, FanDuel: $5,600)

James White sat out his second straight game for the Patriots, and his status is uncertain moving forward as he deals with a tragic car accident involving his parents. The Patriots’ backfield is usually murky for DFS purposes, but without White, Burkhead has taken on added responsibilities. The Raiders couldn’t slow him down Sunday, which resulted in him posting 98 total yards and three total touchdowns. If White sits again, Burkhead is a viable tournament option in what could be a high-scoring matchup.

Devonta Freeman, NYG at LAR (DraftKings: $4,800, FanDuel: $5,400)

Make no mistake about it, the Giants are a mess. They were demolished by a 49ers team Sunday that was missing key starters on both sides of the ball, making the defeat even more embarrassing. They added Freeman earlier in the week after Saquon Barkley (knee) was lost for the seaso,n and he didn’t see much action, rushing five times for 10 yards. The Giants should get him more involved in the offense as the season moves along, but with how inept they have looked running the ball, it’s difficult to justify taking a chance on him in DFS.

Carlos Hyde, SEA at MIA (DraftKings: $5,300, FanDuel: $5,700)

A key situation to monitor this week will be the status of Chris Carson, who suffered a sprained knee Sunday against the Cowboys. He’s been a rock for the Seahawks, receiving at least 247 carries in both of the last two seasons. If he’s forced to sit, Hyde should assume the lead role out of the backfield. The Dolphins have allowed the eighth-most rushing yards per game, so any extra carries could really boost Hyde’s upside.

Wide Receivers

Mike Evans, TB vs. LAC (DraftKings: $6,400, FanDuel: $7,400)

Talk about a strange stat line. Evans received four targets against the Broncos, catching two of them for two yards. However, both were touchdown receptions, so he still put forth a productive afternoon. He could be busier in this matchup against the Chargers depending on the status of Chris Godwin, who left Week 3 with a hamstring injury. The last time we saw Godwin on the sidelines, Evans torched the Panthers for seven receptions, 101 yards and a touchdown in Week 2.

Justin Jefferson, MIN at HOU (DraftKings: $5,200, FanDuel: $5,400)

With Stefon Diggs no longer in town, the Vikings need Jefferson to immediately take on a big role within their passing attack. However, his career started off quietly with six targets across the first two games. All that changed in Week 3 against the Titans when he secured seven of his nine targets for 175 yards and a touchdown. The Vikings’ defense has been atrocious, and this is a tough matchup against Deshaun Watson and company. They might need to throw a lot to keep pace, which could leave Jefferson with another juicy NFL DFS stat line.

Cole Beasley, BUF at LV (DraftKings: $4,700, FanDuel: $5,100)

Allen has started off the season with three straight games with at least 300 passing yards. That’s helped Beasley post 228 receiving yards through three games despite being the team’s No. 3 wide receiver behind Diggs and John Brown. He caught six of seven targets for 100 yards against the Rams, and the Bills needed that from him after Brown went down with a calf injury. If Brown is unable to take the field in Week 4, Beasley would slot in behind Diggs as the team’s No. 2 receiver.

Tight Ends

T.J. Hockenson, DET vs. NO (DraftKings: $4,800, FanDuel: $5,400)

The Saints have been torched by tight ends. They allowed a touchdown to O.J. Howard in Week 1, 105 yards and a touchdown to Darren Waller in Week 2 and two touchdowns to Packers’ tight ends in Week 3. Enter Hockenson, who has posted at least 53 receiving yards in each of the Lions’ first three games. Don’t be surprised if he goes off in this contest.

Dalton Schultz, DAL vs. CLE (DraftKings: $4,300, FanDuel: $4,900)

After Blake Jarwin (knee) was lost for the season, Schultz was left with a starting role for the Cowboys. His first start couldn’t have gone any better with him catching nine of 10 targets for 88 yards and a touchdown against the Falcons. The Cowboys were involved in another high-scoring contest against the Seahawks on Sunday, but Schultz produced a most muted stat line with four catches on six targets for 48 yards. With so much talent around him, the six targets that he received in Week 3 seem like a much more reasonable workload to expect from him moving forward rather than his busy afternoon in Week 2.
