There are a lot of obvious high-priced guys tonight that we know we want to target, and this being the 4th game in both series, we know how the matchups with shake out. You can make a case for a lot of skaters tonight, but we’ll narrow our spotlights down to these 3 guys on a very short slate. Awesemo will give his take first, then I (Tommienation1) will follow up.
David Pastrnak ($6,700 DK/$7,500 FD)
“Pastrnak’s even-strength ice time, power-play time, and team implied total make him one of the safest plays on the night.”
The Bruins winger has fired 24 shot attempts, created 14 individual Scoring Chances and 6 High-Danger Chances (all 1st or tied for 1st on the Bruins) these playoffs. With Nazem Kadri still suspended, the Leafs will trot out Tomas Plekanec against Pastrnak (“A” points grade) and the top Bruins line, which they just ran through for 18 shot attempts and 10 Scoring Chances in 15 minutes at even-strength in Game-3. Pastrnak has as good of a chance to score tonight as anyone not named Alex Ovechkin.
John Carlson ($5,800 DK/$6,500 FD)
“Carlson’s team has the lowest implied total of the night, but he plays a lot of minutes on the power-play with the stacked top unit.”
Carlson (“A” points grade) minutes have been elevated because of the overtime games the Capitals and Blue Jackets have played, but over 20 minutes is a safe bet again tonight. He has attempted 9 shots per game, which is more than any other defenseman in the playoffs, making him a great play on his own. Then you throw in his assist upside playing with Ovechkin and the top power-play unit, and you’ve got one of the best plays on the night in any format.
Boone Jenner ($4,100 DK/$4,300 FD)
“Jenner’s line has been creating a lot shots with not many results this series. Against the Capitals’ depth lines, he’s got a good chance to get on the scoresheet tonight.”
He has only totaled one assist this series, but Jenner’s 19 shot attempts and 4 High-Danger Chances are 2nd and 1st among CBJ skaters in the first 3 games. Outside of the top Blue Jackets’ line, there is a lot of skater value, and Jenner (“B” value) is definitely a guy that I’ll consider as a one-off when he’s playing as aggressively as he is right now.
