Anyone who can separate themselves from the rest of the pack by creating scoring chances with their high irons or wedges can win this event. Enter Russell Henley, who is one of the best golfers with a wedge in his hand from 150 yards or less. He dominates the current field at Detroit in this category, which can help mitigate any strokes lost off the tee or putting. In fact, Henley is third on tour in strokes gained on approach, 18th in strokes gained tee to green and strokes gained around the green, and 23rd in total strokes gained. His outright numbers are too low, but attacking top-20s and top-10s can provide a great return. Kisner loves anything designed by Donald Ross, as evident by his success at both the Wyndham and Tour Championship. He’s also one of the better putters on tour — 13th overall in strokes gained putting. He is 26th overall in strokes gained around the green, another indication of how strong his wedge play has been this season. Kisner has made the cut in each of the three years in Detroit and has multiple top-25 finishes.
