Aweek like this one at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, where there are only 39 total golfers in the field, ownership becomes even more critical. In this article the player pool is broken into three sections: “The Favorites,” “The Value Plays” and the “Long Shots.” In each section, you can find a few fantasy golf picks and commentary about the other golfers this week.
Let’s start by going over the top 10 projected golfers on the slate. Check out the entire field’s PGA DFS ownership projections before building lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel.

PGA DFS Favorites: $9,000 and Above
- 8 golfers
Eight of the 39 golfers this week come in with price tags over $9,000, and only one of the nine is projected to be owned under 15%: Jon Rahm. Since he did not play that well in his last few outings and is getting the highest price tag, gamers are looking elsewhere at the top of their lineup. Collin Morikawa had a rough ending to his year at the Hero World Challenge, blowing a five-shot lead on Sunday, but his DraftKings price has not been affected all that much, coming in second on the board. As of right now, he will be the second-least owned in the category. The other seven, which include Viktor Hovland, Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele and Sam Burns, are all trending towards the 25% projected mark. Expect to see that number gradually rise the lower the number of entries in a specific contest.
Top Contrarian Fantasy Golf Picks
This week Rahm is the clear against-the-grain pick among all golfers, let alone just out of this price category. But a few things will have to go right if Rahm is the centerpiece of the lineup, starting with a few $6,000 golfers playing well.
PGA DFS Mid-Range ($8,900-$7,500)
- 15 golfers
Daniel Berger is trending to be the highest-owned golfer in the slate. As of Tuesday at 4:00 pm he was still waiting for his clubs, but Berger comes in off of a great scoring performance down in the Bahamas. While this course is certainly more challenging than the Country Club in Albany, his ability to rack up DFS points should not be ignored. If playing with a rental set of clubs is what it takes for him to underperform, he is worth buying.
Berger, Cameron Smith and Sungjae Im are separated by $200 top to bottom and are projected to be the highest owned in the slate. Talor Gooch will have around 25% ownership as well. Tony Finau and Jordan Spieth are not getting as much love but are still likely to be owned over 20% here this week. Then there is a bit of a drop off to golfers like Hideki Matsuyama, Jason Kokrak, Marc Leishman, Patrick Reed and Abraham Ancer. Just four golfers remain, and all of them are projected below 15% this week.
Top Contrarian Fantasy Golf Picks
Brooks Koepka is one of those golfers projected under 15% owned this week and seems to be in a good leverage spot. His win equity his high, and he comes in with some momentum after opening with rounds of 67, 67 and 69 in the Bahamas. That was just a week or so after beating Bryson DeChambeau handily in their rendition of The Match. If momentum remains and he finds a hot putter, Koepka is in a great spot to leverage this week.

PGA DFS Value Plays ($7,400 and Below)
- 18 golfers
With just over 100% total ownership among the 18 golfers, there are plenty of spots to leverage this week — more so than in years past at this event. Just five golfers are projected over 10% owned — Max Homa, Si Woo Kim, Seamus Power, Lucas Herbert, Joel Dahmen and K.H. Lee — with none of them garnering more than 15%. With 14 options to roster golfers under 10% this week, picking the outperformers becomes harder. Here are a few of the better targets according to Awesemo’s PGA DFS Projections.
- Joel Dahmen (Projected for 81.6 DraftKings Points)
- Cam Davis (Projected for 80.6 DraftKings Points)
- Erik van Rooyen (Projected for 80.4 DraftKings Points)
