Expert ZOZO Championship Data & Stats | PGA DFS Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel Lineups

Having a variety of viewpoints and data points can be both a curse and a blessing. This column will sift through all the data and top-picks from the four statistical angles that make up PGA DFS. The swing season continues this week with the second straight no-cut event. Of the 78 golfers teeing it up for the ZOZO Championship, around a dozen primarily play on the Japanese PGA Tour. That tour has played seven out of the last eight weeks, with many of those that played well over that stretch getting an invite to this week. It will be the biggest start of the year for all of them, with the prize purse well above their typically weekly pool.

PGA DFS Data Deep Dive for The ZOZO Championship

After a year in Vegas, the tournament heads back to Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club, where Tiger Woods won in 2019.

Recent Form

Seven of the nine golfers with at least three top-10s in the last 12 weeks play their golf on the Japanese tour; Adam Schenk and Erik van Rooyen are the two PGA Tour players to accomplish this. Scott Vincent leads a host of talented golfers from the Japanese Tour, with five top-10s over the past eight starts and all starts ending in a top-15 finish. Takumi Kanaya is similar, with six starts all finishing inside the top 25 and four top-10s. Chan Kim also has three top-10s in the past 12 weeks, and he came in 23rd at the PGA Championship while scoring a ton of PGA DFS points along the way.

K.H. Lee, Cameron Tringale and Roger Sloan are the three golfers from the PGA Tour with five top-25s in the last 12 weeks. Jhonattan Vegas and C.T. Pan hold the best top-25 percentage, with Vegas going 4-for-6 and Pan going 3-for-5. Lastly, Collin Morikawa and Rickie Fowler will be big talking points this week, as they are coming off their best finish in well over two months.

Negative Recent Form

This week 10 golfers have at least four starts over the past 12 weeks and have yet to come in the top 25. Some big names include Tommy Fleetwood, Garrick Higgo, Ryan Palmer, Matt Jones, Wyndham Clark, Kyle Stanley, Doc Redman and Bill Haas.
