PGA One and Done: Expert PGA Picks This Week for the Wyndham Championship

The final stop of the PGA Tour regular season is here, with the Wyndham Championship set to begin. This is a huge week for many players as the FedEx Cup standings take shape, with status, standings and tour cards up for grabs. The venue doesn’t bring out the top-tier players, which opens it up for some of the mid-range golfers to possibly get in the mix and end their season with a win. For One and Done, it’s a final week to move up the standings for pools that do not include the playoff events. Let’s dive in and see who makes sense in this spot and get into some of the best Wyndham Championship 2022 One and Done picks.

PGA One and Done Picks: Wyndham Championship 2022

Rocket Mortgage Classic 2022 One and Done Recap

Cam Young

Young was the pick last week and at one point seemed primed to break through for that elusive first win on tour. There is no doubting this guy’s talent, and his off-tee game puts him in contention every week. He was unable to threaten Tony Finau but settled into a tie for second and a $635,000 payday. That’s a nice boost at an event like this, and considering most people didn’t have Finau available, those who went with Young picked up some ground.

Cam Davis

Last week was the full Cam Davis experience, with massive mistakes and tons of birdies to make up for them. He provided an unnecessary cut sweat but found the weekend and finished 14th after a quality showing Saturday. The $153,000 prize isn’t a season saver, but it’s hard to complain about a top-15 showing from a guy like Davis.

Max Homa

As was the case with Davis, Homa found the weekend but couldn’t truly contend. He finished in the middle of the pack for a $68,000 payout, which is not going to make much noise in One and Done pools. It has been another solid year for Homa, and there is zero doubt he will be a selection in One and Done for many years to come given the caliber of play he showed in 2022.

Will Zalatoris

This is similar to Young, as Zalatoris is looking to establish himself on tour with that first win. It’s going to happen at some point, and a tournament like the Wyndham presents a great opportunity for him to do just that. His ball striking will be there, it’s just a matter of whether or not he can make enough putts in what surely will be a birdie fest. He is not a great play in the outright market, but that’s due to the price more than not liking the course fit. Having Zalatoris available this late in the season is a bonus, and he makes sense as a selection regardless of standings.

Webb Simpson

Simpson should be called Mr. Wyndham, as his course history around this track is legendary. He seemingly gets himself a top-10 result every year here and actually has a daughter named Wyndham, to add to the narrative. Simpson hasn’t been as sharp this year, but when he gets around this track, there is no stopping him more often than not. He knows the greens and how to play this track better than anyone and should be a popular One and Done pick here. Those who are way behind in One and Done standings should not use him, as too many people would probably box them out.

Harold Varner III

Varner is great at 40-1 in the betting market, but why not in One and Done as well? He comes in with the irons fully dialed in, gaining in seven straight events that had strokes gained data. He made three of four cuts in the majors and should thrive on these Bermuda greens. Varner has been close several times on tour and has a pair of top-10 finishes already in his Wyndham career. He should be available since he wasn’t a popular One and Done pick in many events this season, and he’s live to grab a top-end finish in this spot.

2022 Wyndham Championship One and Done Pick: Will Zalatoris

Zalatoris is one of the best players available and is on the hunt for his first win. He has already proven he can contend in fields much stronger than this, and now he has an opportunity to end his regular season on a high note. The key will be making putts and keeping pace, but with it being so late in the season, it is fortunate to have one of the betting favorites available in One and Done.
