Week 7 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Quarterbacks

Must Start Matthew Stafford — Los Angeles Rams (vs. Detroit Lions)

There is nothing quite as sweet as a revenge game narrative. What is even sweeter is a double revenge game for Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff. While there is no reason to start Goff, Stafford is in the perfect situation to have his best performance of the year. Last week against the Giants he went 22 of 28 for 251 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. The Lions defense ranks 25th in pass DVOA and were just torched by Joe Burrow and the Bengals last week.

Must Start: Ryan Tannehill — Tennessee Titans (vs. Kansas City Chiefs)

Tannehill has been far from an exciting fantasy start this season. With that said, if there is ever a game where Tannehill could sling it, it would be against the Chiefs. The Chiefs defense ranks 31st in pass DVOA. A.J. Brown finally started to look good for the first time this season, so the passing game in Tennessee may be on the come up.

Must Start: Tua Tagovailoa — Miami Dolphins (vs. Atlanta Falcons)

Making his return after missing multiple games with a rib injury, Tagovailoa put up numbers against the Jaguars, with 33 completions on 47 attempts for 329 yards, two touchdowns and one interception without Will Fuller and DeVante Parker. It is likely he will be without both again this week, but going against the Falcons will be the ultimate equalizer. In five games the Falcons defense has allowed 11 touchdowns to just one interception, and the lone interception came from Zach Wilson. Expect another solid showing from Tagovailoa.

Must Sit: Mac Jones — New England Patriots (vs. New York Jets)

While on paper this is a soft matchup that Mac Jones could tear up, it is likely that this game will be identical to the one against the Jets from earlier in the season. In that game Jones went 22 of 30 for 186 yards, which does not offer much fantasy value.

Must Sit: Justin Fields — Chicago Bears (at Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

The Buccaneers pass defense has been far from excellent this season, but the Bears simply do not pass enough to warrant starting Justin Fields. Last week against the Packers he completed 16 passes on 27 attempts for 174 yards, one touchdown and one interception, though he ran six times for 43 yards. Until the Bears unleash Fields, keep him on the bench.
