Working the Waiver Wire: Top Week 14 Fantasy Football Pickups | Keke Coutee + Ty Johnson

Week 13 still isn’t officially in the books yet with the Cowboys and Ravens set to play Tuesday. With that being said, if you’re still alive in your fantasy football league, that likely means you’ve made the playoffs. It’s time to start planning for what will hopefully be a championship run. Let’s take a look at some waiver wire options to consider adding for Week 14 who are still available in the majority of Yahoo and ESPN leagues.

Fantasy Football: Week 14 NFL Waiver Wire Pickups | ESPN + Yahoo

Keke Coutee, Houston Texans (73% available):

Coutee was one of the top waiver wire adds for Week 13 after Will Fuller was suspended for the rest of the season. He didn’t disappoint, catching eight of nine targets for 141 against the Colts. His nine targets were the most on the time, one more than new No. 1 wide receiver Brandin Cooks. The Texans have a bad defense, so targets shouldn’t be difficult for Coutee to come by moving forward as the offense plays catchup. Randall Cobb (toe) could return from IR as early as Week 15, but since he won’t be able to play in Week 14 against the Bears, Coutee should remain busy.

Week 14 Waiver Wire Priority: 1 (10%-15% of FAAB budget)

Ty Johnson, New York Jets (99% available):

The Jets almost pulled out a win against the Raiders on Sunday, but a collapse by their defense in the final minute kept them winless on the season. Early in the contest, they lost starting running back Frank Gore to a concussion. In his absence, Johnson shined with 22 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown. Josh Adams also played well with 74 rushing yards, although he only received eight carries. They would both likely be involved in Week 14 if Gore remains out, but with Johnson likely to receive the most carries of the two, he could be worth a look in your Yahoo and ESPN fantasy football leagues if you need running back help.

Week 14 Waiver Wire Priority: 2 (5%-10% of FAAB budget)

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles (97% available):

The Eagles might be ready to move on from Carson Wentz. Their playoff hopes are dwindling, and Wentz hasn’t shown any signs of breaking out of his funk. They finally benched him during Week 13 against the Packers, bringing in Hurts to try and provide a spark for their offense. He couldn’t bring them back for a win, but he did finish with 109 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also had five carries for 29 yards. There’s a chance that he starts moving forward and the Eagles close out the season with some favorable matchups, including the Cardinals and Cowboys. With Hurts’ ability to contribute on the ground, he might not be 10-team-league viable on Yahoo and ESPN but could be worth a look in deeper leagues or in super flex formats.

Week 14 Waiver Wire Priority: 3 (5%-10% of FAAB budget)

Russell Gage, Atlanta Falcons (93% available):

Gage had another strong performance Sunday, finishing with four receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown. He now has 25 targets across the last three games, leaving him with 143 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers are even more encouraging when you factor in two of those matchups came against the Saints. The Falcons have the potential to score plenty of points this week against the Chargers, who have allowed an average of 28.8 points a game. Even as the third-wheel at wide receiver behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, Gage could remain productive for your teams on ESPN and Yahoo.

Week 14 Waiver Wire Priority: 4 (3%-5% of FAAB budget)

Darnell Mooney, Chicago Bears (88% available):

If the Bears miss out on the playoffs, their collapse against the Lions on Sunday might be the reason why. On the bright side, at least they scored 30 points in the defeat. David Montgomery was effective on the ground and Mitchell Trubisky completed 26 of 34 pass attempts for 267 yards and a touchdown. Mooney caught four passes for 43 yards and finished third on the team with six targets. That marked the fifth time in the last six games that he has received at least six targets. With three great matchups coming up against the Texans, Vikings and Jaguars, that type of target share leaves him with the potential to be productive. He might be No. 5 on the priority list, but he could make an impact in Yahoo and ESPN leagues.

Week 14 Waiver Wire Priority: 5 (1%-3% of FAAB budget)

Anthony Miller, Chicago Bears (83% available):

Despite having one fewer target than Mooney on Sunday, Miller actually finished with a better stat line, posting five receptions for 56 yards. He has received at least five targets in each of the last five games, posting at least 56 receiving yards three times. Although he hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 3, it’s encouraging that he has received at least one red zone target in five of the last six contests. Since the Bears are set to face three bad defenses, Miller could find his way into the end zone in the coming weeks.

Week 14 Waiver Wire Priority: 6 (1%-3% of FAAB budget)

Dalton Schultz, Dallas Cowboys (80% available):

The Cowboys still haven’t played their Week 13 matchup yet, but Schultz was trending in the right direction heading into their matchup with the Ravens. He’s received four red zone targets across his last two games and has four straight contests with at least five total targets, overall. A Week 14 matchup against the Bengals certainly works in his favor considering they have allowed tight ends to catch 67 passes for 822 yards and seven touchdowns this season.

Week 14 Waiver Wire Priority: 7 (1%-3% of FAAB budget)

Tyler Eifert, Jacksonville Jaguars (94% available):

Despite some ugly turnovers by Mike Glennon, the Jaguars will reportedly stick with him under center for Week 14. That could be good news for Eifert, who has caught nine of 10 targets for 51 yards and a touchdown with Glennon leading the way the last two games. Eifert will likely continue to record limited receiving yards regardless of who is playing quarterback, but he’s at least a threat to record a touchdown this week against the Titans, who have allowed seven touchdowns to tight ends this season.

Week 14 Waiver Wire Priority: 8 (1%-3% of FAAB budget)
